Watching legend play these old total war battles has made me realize just how much having a single entity wrecking ball has changed the way strategy works in total war
To be fair, its not a thing in multiplayer anymore. And being points based both in roster and in scoring multiplayer is as close to tabletop as you're gonna get (Unless you played tabletop against nobody?) I do like single player still allowing for power fantasy gameplay though. They should create a unit caps setting you can apply to single player though so you arent at a disadvantage against the AI.
@@booradley6832 no. I fundamentally dislike it, because it also Highlights another issue, mainly formations, morale and mass. Things the tabletop also better simulated with static models mind. And gw also isn't known for it's mechanical prowess in game design, which makes the state of total in general just more sad.

@@ZennZennsterthey are, but its not as much fun as using your units quality, like it was in medieval, or rome 1&2 where you can get a phalanx formation or knights charge an massacre enemy army with use of two units. Infantry mechanics in warhammer are are more like shogun 2 to me, doesnt matter how good but how many. Ofc there are lords, magic etc its fun, but you cannot put weight of battle in your elite infantry units anymore.
Same! Started a HRE campaign like the first one I ever played. I wonder if Legend can make a bump in the steam player count of the old games. How humiliating for CA if the release of Pharaoh and bungling of warhammer lead to people noticeably playing and watching the old stuff.

@buzter8135 the amount of things going wrong is pretty impressive. Seems like as soon as the rebel settlements are all taken up, anything can happen. Regardless of history or campaign objectives.
I really appreciate the cinematics of the sieges in this game, it makes so much more sense and the movement of the armies is considerably more relevant. The town layouts are vast and give opportunities for actual tactics. I didn't realize just how trash twwh3 sieges were until now😊
I love Medieval for the little things too, how armor upgrades are actually visible in game and look amazing! It's a beautiful game for sure, you can tell it was made with love.

Been playing Total War since Empire and just recently got Med 2 and realizing just how in depth it is, praying for a med 3 and watching total war play makes me want to start my first campaign in this

I've been really enjoying the historical disaster battles/campaigns that you have been releasing recently. I also really like the idea, given the state of the campaign, of releasing the initial video with the opportunity for the community to decide if it is interesting enough to warrant an additional live stream or videos.
The forlorn hope is a term used to describe the first units into battle and the ones most likely to be completely wiped out. They were usually people who volunteered for a suicide mission.

If I could pick one faction in the whole MD2TW (dlcs included) as my favorite it would be the Teutonic order. It would be so awesome if they were somehow added to the vanila game after a certain event, like Mongols or Timurids. In any case, this is awesome content so keep rocking Legend!
I recently started playing Shogun 2 (Rise of the Samurai) again and I'm addicted to it again and that is the worst part of Shogun 2. The kill/death animations are so cool where they writhe around in pain and you see people duelling and doing cool animations. Everything about that game is amazing apart from the Naval battles in Rise of the Samurai and Base campaign and Fall of the Samurai has amazing naval battles.
I understand that feeling. I was adored as a child changing medieval 1 on rome and look how unit started to become structure build from singular soldiers. Imho peak of it is in Rome 2 thats still my facourite part. Sadly i feel that total war regressed from this point, warhammer, beside that its fun, feel like comanding meat pulp with hp bar and going forward.
@@marcin7054 Rome 2 on release was unplayable I ignored it for a year but then it was great. I still think my favourite is Shogun 2 FoTS or Medieval 2. Atilla is okay but its got a few promising mods that might be great when finished like 1212AD and Dawnless days LoTR mod.

Seeing you conquer the HRE as the Teutonic Order would be an epic livestream. However, the situation you've got the campaign into, it's not a disaster, anymore. Imperial armies are not stupid enough to take on fully functioning Citadels.

Mostly fell in love with shogun 2 and the warhammer series. but this new retro content is great. getting me interested into the older games and the mods. keep it up. can definitely tell your have a better time. and happy your out of the creator program and doing your own thing. that is what I enjoy watching.
Hey Legend (German teacher from Germany here :P), took me about 12 Years and your Video to find out, there is a typo in the unit name "Knechten" :) The word itself doesnt make any sense with the pluralsuffix "-n". Without it ("Knechte") it just means a special form of servants of the nobility in plural. :) Thx. a lot. I know it sounds nerdy, but it made my day :)
As I was watching your video I think I had a jarring realization. I think the voice for the general for the Teutonic order in battle is NOVA from Battalion Wars. The exact same accent and sound it appears to me. If anyone here knows Battalion Wars from the gamecube I think you're a cool cat
The name of the unit "Knechten" is a false pronounciation by the game. The true pronounciation of the unit would be "Knechte" which means "servants" in german. "knechten" is the corresponding verb which means "to subjugate" . "Knecht" is also the orign of the word "Knight" (because a Knight was the servant or "Knecht" of his lord or king). The germanic languages later diversified which is why in germany the name for "Knight" became "Ritter" which is more akin to the meaning of "horseman".
And fun fact, since "knightly culture" came into central Europe mostly throuh Germans, the term "rytier, rytíř and rycerz" are Slovak, Czech and Polish terms used for "knight", which is obviously loan word from Ritter. Languages are very interesting to me.

Actually funnily enough very little light melee cavalry units actually get the fast moving keyword, one I know that does is the scottish Border horse unit. Also in kingdoms they actually gave two handed sword infantry effective against armour and made them worth using.
i honestly changed so much as a player after i started watching this disaster campaigns years ago, i am way more aggressive, and although it sometimes bites me in the ass, coz i am simply not that good in battles it, is still a more fun way to play

The 180k in debt guy is gonna go in history as a benchmark for future saving a disaster campaign/battle videos.
Pretty sure there's another campaign from a few years back that has about half a million in debt and took 2-3 episodes to save

Nah mate, actually you should pray that CA doesn’t do a Medieval 3 at this point. It’s gonna be a disaster even Legend himself can’t save.
The modding scene is what makes Medieval II great. Divide and Conquer (LOTR mod) is a personal favourite I've spent a thousand hours on.
Loving the current content. Feels so good seeing and playing the good old games, even tho it some times bit fiddly with the unit controls
