Ok, some people here are talking about how they're sounding live and yesterday I watched on my tv and was sounding great, now watching on my phone and it's not sounding the better. But I defend they're delivering an amazing performance, these musicians are good. AN rocks 🔥 ps.: I hope Mick bless us with a studio album in near future
The name of the band is taken from the movie Excalibur by John Boorman, 1981. You can hear a little sample in the demo Total Fucking Necro in the introduction.
I was there and it was awesome, bad comments are just for the people who was not in the pit, seeing this band live sounds like everything to me as i grew up with AN you can also hear my scream at the end 58:04 😂
I've been complaining lately about the decreasing brutality and roughness on their album outputs. But I have to admit that their live presence is much more intimidating!
The drummer currently is David Gray, also the drummer for Akercocke, Voices, The Antichrist Imperium. The pings you hear in the track Forward! are a sample (it's also on the album).
The phrase was taken from Merlin's Charm of Making in the 1981 film Excalibur. In the movie, the phrase is pronounced [ˈɛənæl ˈnæθræk] ("ANN- all [as in "shall"] NATH-rak").
Wow, the drummer is terribly messy, that is not tight at high speed. Having such a clicky trigger sound doesn't help the case, it makes the timing issues even more obvious
It's David from Akercocke, he is a great drummer & i think a lot of this is to do with the mix we hear & potentially issues with the foldback / IEM mixes. Everyone sounds out of time in bits, not just the drums. Win some and lose some i guess, but i'll take seeing Dave Hunt happy and angry at the same time over a performance being perfect :)
Then again, at least we know he's playing live, and not just following pre-programmed drums (like half the deathcore bands out there playing "live" with laptops).
Indeed the worst drum performance I have ever seen. The blasts were sloppy as fuck. Well, he's 51, but if you can't handle the speed anymore, make room for some one else. Luv Akercocke by the way, but this was worse than Bidens debate performance.

Lol Drummers are allowed to not play perfect on material they didn't write or perform live before. Even the best bands that do 'perfect' sets, they never think it's perfect. But it's how it's always been
I think, (mainly because of the first few minutes where it's noisy / sloppy), that he didn't hear his kicks properly in relation to the rest, as he is using an electric kickpad (as a trigger) and not an acoustic bass drum with a trigger attached, this might impact the feel as well (for better or worse). House / kit or festival changeover times being killing might also work against you as a drummer (i've had many a show where something was not in the right spot and i had to work around that for the whole show).
Most of live lineup of AN has always been live musicians, and i think that the members of Voices / Akercocke live near Dave Hunt it makes sense logistically.
@@Daniel-lh8dp woah, didn't uhmm Mick write all of the music track the guitars, bass, and program the drums, record and mix their albums? That is a big loss. I know he had interests well outside of metal. So maybe that was him spreading his wings and moving onwards?

Feeding the death machine live is amazing. I hope they'll keep putting it to their setlists.
Sounded much better live.
That was awesome.
David Gray and Sam Loynes, from Akercocke / Antichrist Imperium, on drums and guitars, respectively.
British legends.
Sam Loynes Akercocke (Keyboards, last album too) and The Antichrist Imperium too :3

Would love for this band to have a permanent and dedicated drummer who can really nail the off beat kick drum and blast beat parts accurately.
Suenan con madre !!! Sonido duro y crudo !!!
I love the songs in studio. Live performance is noisy and the drumkit remembers me a typewriting machine.
Strongly agree, their drums sound is like no bass, their music is modern brutal sound but this live tend to be lo-fi which is not matched
Brutal with a cap B. Killer opening riffs.
