I picked one up at a model club I belong to. The chassis and engine were partially built (very nicely) and the rest was unassembled. Being a Monogram kit, the quality is first rate. I`ll leave it in the black it was molded in because the factory paint job is as good, if not better than the rattle cans I would use because it looks like it was pre gloss coated and waxed. I`ll probably put in carpet and upholsture the seat with white leather. I`m also considering making the head and tail lights work. This was a find, well worth the fifteen bucks I paid for it. I can`t wait to start it, but that 1-350 scale Minicraft 'Titanic' is still on the workbench!

Great rescue of that old kit ! I have one from the original issue i found at a yard sale ! Unbuilt and all there .Boy what a find, one of those one in a million treasures. So now I'm building it instead of stashing it. A lot of warping, but a wooden fixture and a hair dryer took care of that. Glad to see you building this classic kit ! keep building Doug, enjoyed the video. It made me want to build my treasure ! Cheers Doug !

This is a rare kit indeed! I never knew Monogram ever made 1/8 scale car model and I've never seen this featured or mentioned in any hobby magazine. Well, you did a great job on this gorgeous hot rod!! Cheers!!

Wow, 1/8 scale, the largest car I've built was the 1/16, and large scale is prime for added detail. I love yard sales and online auctions for rescue models, but your find tops it. 10 years ago some rescues were hardly realistic, aftermarket and tech make the rescue fun yet still callenging. Great review, it was an awsome build, one to be proud of. Thanks.

Had this kit twice in different releases and sold them when times got hard...... Maybe someday I'll get one again. Great kit and there's a lot of super detailing that can be done with it. Merry Christmas and have a happy New Year! Doug!

I actually was fortunate to find three of these kits, and would you believe one of them was one I built way back in the early-mid 70's, body parts were still painted in the same paint I did them in and they weren't in real bad condition, other two cars were all in pieces yellow plastic! some parts (not many) fortunately that I will have to recast, no real big deal! will build one as a Highboy with a scratch built blower and with the steelies out of the BIG TEE kits that I also have! quite a few kits lined up in front of these though! real fun to be back in the Hobby! might even get real keen and make a Coupe 5W roof from scratch out of one of the others yet!

Wonderful rescue. Looks to me like this rescue and build into a first class model took some advanced skills. I can't tell the difference between the original taillight red tinted and the homemade replacement. You can't tell the frame was ever damaged. Glad you could find a new grill shell. Shows you how far the model hobby has come. I always liked Monogram models. I can't remember being disappointed by them when I was building in the 1960s. So I am surprised they left out the fan and fuel pump for an otherwise nicely detailed eng in ne, right down to spark plugs. Happy new year from the snowy west.

Awesome job, I built the white box version in the 70s, I seem to remember the fuel line connected to the fire wall. One of the gauge decals was a fuel pressure. I got one of the later versions in my stash, it has a proper flathead V8

You could scratch build an electric fuel pump mounted by the gas tank and fashion a fuel pump block off plate on the engine. On my real car I needed a fuel return line and a pressure regulator, this was for a Holley 4bbl on a built 440.

Nice build! This is an odd reissue of the Big Deuce in that it didn't include the update parts that were added in the '90s when Revell hired ROD&CUSTOM magazine Editor Pat Ganahl to modernize the Big T and the Deuce. I did the Model Column in R&C from '95-98, never got around to doing a finished Deuce.
Nice job on a 70s era, colorful streeter, and accurate to 1:1 except for the combined hood/radiator shell. I'll let that slide... THIS time. Nice work!
