I love how Tae focuses on his love of music and artists. He promotes so many musicians that he enjoys. He truly loves music 🎶
if V wants.. V gets it.. V is a typical type of person that he doesnt mind the streams, sales or awards, he stays in his artistry and love for music. It is bold of him released his album as a non pop songs but a jazzy RNV (r&b).. V doesnt go with what is “in” right now, he is true to his craft and to himself

V is a musician’s musician. He loves music and he always supports under rated artists. He could easily collab with the biggest artists, but no, he prefers to give lesser known artists a platform. Like in the Tiny Desk, where he gave up his time to the band and now Umi. This is an amazing song and his song recommendations are eclectic but the best music you’ll hear. I have his recommendations as a playlist and it’s feeds my soul.
By the way, V told us that he doesn’t listen to the company and so no surprise that he did this collab without the companies involvement. It says a lot about the artist AND the company, because the company (BH) lets their artist create the music, unlike most other music companies who make their artists produce songs according to what the company wants, forcing them to just make hits rather than good music.
V is about artistry and not about chart positions and that’s why (for me ) he’s special. Tae did an amazing duet with IU and now this duet with Umi. He needs to do more duets with other female singers, IU was right, V’s vocals are a perfect match with other singers.
In Le Jazz De V with the jazz singer Minna Seo i thought the two voices harmonized perfectly. For me V is a complete artist. Ah, i almost forgot, he's very very beautiful 😅 and plays saxophone ❤

This is why for me artists like V are timeless. I cannot name one big chart topper that kept my interest for longer than one song besides Taylor Swift due to her song writing talent. But V will always pique and keep my interest. He’s a true artist. I’m drawn to the authenticity in his work and his soulful voice.

A musician said once that for a song to be timeless or classic, it can’t have effects, high notes over singing ad libs etc because they tend to be trends of the day and get dated very easily. I also feel that that an artist is flexing if they do the high note and not necessarily about the song and lyrics. Subtle run’s and high notes are fine if placed to enhance the song and not the artist and Tae really did that in his solo’s, thats why Tae’s songs will stand the test of time. I’m with you about the current music. I don’t listen to pop anymore. Music today is really forgettable, good when you hear it but in a couple months you can even remember it. I love RM’s Mono and V’s layover. I’m still listening to Mono on a regular basis and Layover is also going to on my regular playlist. Both a timeless and no skip albums for me. I have similar taste in music to Tae artist with an eclectic playlist. His recommendations are also my go to playlist along side Mono and Layover. Tae has a sublime taste in music and I’m here for it.

You’re so right, V stays true to his music and does not seem to worry much about consequences. Indeed not too many famous artists would risk their fame by collaborating with underrated but highly talented musicians.
Additional info from UMI: she said she sent the recording to V and asked him to do layers and she said he did that beautifully and added all those extra magical touches to it which touched many of the listeners! Love your reaction to our Sir Captain Taehyung!

as a long time listener of umi and a tae biased, this collab is everythinggg. she’s so sweet, and her energy is a perfect match with tae. how they view their artistry; their creative vision etc, to them connecting together through organic soulful music is what matters over just making sure they chart well, and it’s so freeing. his first ever collab being with an indie, openly queer artist without any company help is such a tae thing to do, bold and fearless, but layover was also a big indication for how he wants to pursue solo activities, so i’m not surprised.

You can delude yourself into thinking that he is mistreated and com hates him, but this is just you solo stans and mantis being delusional. You don't even listen to what he says. This collab is so Kim Taehyung (V). He chose this composition of hers after being contacted by UMI, and they worked on writing together. They put it together without any company involvement or promotion. V enlisted in ROK Army for his mandatory military service a couple weeks prior to the song's release, so he asked UMI to take care of finalizing and releasing Wherever U R. She is so cool. She and her team worked hard to get the song released exactly on V's birthday (12/30). This is a gorgeous song. I hope it gets some radio play, because it deserves to be heard and enjoyed.

Umi definitely has a lovely soothing voice, perfect for R&B. She also gives me a mix between Brandy and Maya vibes whom I listened to all the time back in the 90's. Of course all of them are drop dead gorgeous on top of being talent singers.
