I bought one after laying down my 2 wheel bike. I suffered severe panic attacks trying to ride 2 wheels. Bought the ryker and am able to enjoy rides again. Best decision ever.
I understand, i had a mishap on my two wheeler years ago , and it put me off , but now at 63 im considering buyi g a ryker and going again here in Australia
I had to give up on two wheelers due to the amputation of my right leg above the knee, the loss of feeling, muscle power and muscle memory and my balance wasn't anywhere as good as it once was. The Ryker offers me everything I could want on two wheels, but with the safety of an extra wheel. Many will say it's a million miles away from being like a two wheeler, but if you look at it with the point of view that you are doing what you used to do, but in a different way, it still puts a smile on your face.
I took the 3-wheel course at MSF recently and rode a Ryker 600 for my first time. You would have never thought it was my first time b/c i looked like i had been riding them my whole life. I got my 2-wheel endorsement October 2022 and bought a Navi (110cc) automatic motorcycle in February 2023. Originally learned on a Grom. I liked it, but i suck at shifting hence me going for the Navi which is pretty similar to a Grom but carbureted, combined breaking system (drum breaks) and a couple other differences. You made a good point in your intro about why one might want to ride a Ryker and not a two wheel. While i thought I would like motorcycling, i don’t feel safe on mine and the navi is about the easiest bike to ride. I’ve practiced on a side street before, and it is fun to just grip it and rip it as i say, or twist and go, but as you mentioned, it’s alot to take in when you’re on 2 wheels. The lean, countersteer, etc… that’s not a big deal for me. In my situation, I just don’t feel safe taking a bike as small as the navi on the road. I also just want to be able to enjoy the ride and i can’t do that w/ the 2-wheel b/c of all the things you have to be aware of. Now you’ll have to still be aware on the can-am for sure, but i like the fact that I’m bigger, I’m more seen, and i don’t have to lean, countersteer, shift, etc… everything is completely opposite on the 3-wheel and i like it! When i first started riding a can-am, i found that my left hand wanted to shift or squeeze the clutch - and there’s nothing to squeeze on these lol. I also wanted to countersteer but i adjusted to leaning into the turn on these as you suggested. Since the course used Ryker 600, that is what i am accustomed too , but i was recommended to get a rally and I’m just wondering if I should go that route as a first timer to trikes. I live in the country and have country roads (paved), hills and some twisties. I won’t be going off road nor on the highway, and i don’t see myself needing to adjust the suspension. We do have potholes and some rough roads here though. I love the upgraded seat and the diff modes. Just wondering if i should stick with what i know - the Ryker 600 base or go for a ryker rally. One thing i can tell you is with my navi, i don’t like that it lacks power. I mean should you one day need it, then you’re gonna wish you had it. That’s another reason why i am considering the rally.
I have a lot of fun on mine. Once you stop comparing and trying to ride it like a motorcycle, everything falls into place. For me it rides like your driving an atv on the street and if you wanna ride it fast you gotta move around on the seat!! Be safe and have fun!!
Agreed! Purchased my Ryker and drove it 90 miles to home, 90 percent of that ride was highway. Half way home , I was thinking what have I done. In stock form, I find the Ryker feels very twitchy on the highway. The steering stabilizer works well at softening this. I also purchased a sway bar kit from Baja Ron Custom Performance. The sway bar kit really shines on bumpy rough roads. This thing is a blast to ride.
I own two large bikes, a small one and a scooter. I also have a Can-Am Spyder F3-S. I like my F3-S just as much as the bikes. Really fun to ride. It's a real workout on the corners, as well. Nick
Get Mrs. Slow Rider a steering damper for the Ryker. Helps with steering sensitivity, rough roads, cross winds. It removes the wiggly jiggly feeling in the steering It made a huge difference for me and is well worth the cost.
Nice review. I bought a 2021 Ryker Rally just before Thanksgiving with @500 miles and am really enjoying it. I've had motorcycles for decades, usually two in the garage, one touring, one 'different' for local rides and errands. I sold a Royal Enfield 650 Interceptor last summer to make room for something different and saw this at a local dealership at a great price. I'm 70 years old, this could be my go to rider in a few more years, and it looks to be a good choice. I've put the Shad side bag and top box on it for storage and some other upgrades, it makes for a very fun capable ride.
Thanks! I added the Can Am "adventure" windshield and that made a nice difference when riding higher speeds for any length of time. Once I get out of this winter funk I'll do a video showing the add-ons I've gone with so far.
I'll look forward to the new video. I went a little crazy on Black Friday sales, the adventure windshield, luggage, floorboards, LED headlight bulbs, comfort seat, brake pedal and a drawer full of tshirts. LOL. The windshield and seat made a big difference in comfort. I live in southern Oregon, mild winters, we ride year round here. thanks again @@slowridertv
I agree with your first impressions, very thorough. You might want to look into the plug-and-play Pedal Commander for smooth & rapid throttle response. Slingmods has that and tons of farkles/accessories. I have ridden the 600cc Ryker (twin cylinder) & the 900cc triples as well as the nice Rally you have. Love the Rally & I think it has 1 more inch of ground clearance than the regular 900s. I splurged & went for a new Spyder RT Ltd, large difference in price, but I planned to tour (40 yrs riding 2 wheelers, still have them). As you say, some negative comments from 2-wheelers, probably mostly jealousy, lol. My wife rides motorcycles - now just need her to get a Ryker rally so I can steal it for some fun rides! All the best in safe & fun riding. Cheers, Ronny. PS - the brakes on the Ryker are absolutely phenomenal!!
That Spyder RT looks VERY appealing. All those creature comforts :-) Last weekend Mrs. Slow Rider and I completed the MSF 3 wheel basic rider course. During all the stop and go exercises I think I figured out the throttle issue. There is a slight delay (lag) after the throttle is opened. My theory is that the delay is the CVT spinning up and engaging. But whatever the reason, during the lag it makes you think you need to apply more throttle. So you apply more throttle and suddenly everything engages. I was able to build my muscle memory to apply a slight amount of throttle, anticipate the lag, then start rolling on more throttle at the same time the driveshaft starts moving. Nice smooth take-offs now! So for anyone experiencing that jerky throttle: practice, practice, and more practice.
Owned a 2001 R6, then a Honda Rebel, and now a Honda Navi. Looking to get one of these for faster roads because the Navi is just around town for errands and just fun cruising on lower speed roads. Awesome video and now very very interested!
The more you ride it the more comfortable you get. Rides like a quad in straight aways and a snowmobile in the turns. Two wheels are fun but you can enjoy the ride/scenery moreso with the three wheeler.
Well I can’t ride a bike cause of my decease but I can ride the Ryker. Why hate me when I found a way to get back out there. Believe me I wish I could Ride a bike again.
They look fun as hell I’ve got an mt09 now had afew 600 cc bikes getting this next f what peeps think they look fun as f after this Christmas getting 1 off these defo the 900 one tho got more go ect

Glad to hear it helped with your fears, it’s not fun going down on a motorcycle
That look like a LOT of fun, I can absolutely see why someone would feel better on one of those than on 2 wheels.

Being out in the elements is at least half of the appeal for me.

Nice video, no specs, just what it’s like to ride one. Very well done. Thank you.
Before anything! The #1 buy is a Steering stabilizer. I get on highways and feel very safe. Bumps are lessened big time.

I'm a big guy but I stiffened my suspension up, it was up at position 1 now its at 4, that stopped a lot of the twitchy ride for me.
Great advice. ...😊😊

To be honest I do want that for my first vehicle
Nothing wrong with that!
Thanks for your review/ thoughts on the Rally.
Let’s end the Trike Hate.🤣🫡
Ryker is all fun to ride.
@@arnoldomartinez1245 yes i test drove one they are fun.
Sounds like a plan...😊😊😊
Good short video, great content lots of info, will watch for further info
Good review. Very informative. Thank you for posting.
Great video, perhaps the best I have seen on these things. Thank you

Anyone who has riden an atv should feel at home on a Ryker, it’s a very similar experience. Especially the feeling on corners.
With my bad knees. A trike is the way I have to go now.

Excellent review!
You don't have to worry about dropping it, dumping it or shifting. Just kick back and enjoy the breeze in your hair!😁
Does the Ryker have a clutch? Or is it CVT? Thanks! ( I hadn’t watched all the way through before I asked my question lol)
CVT
Well I can’t ride a bike cause of my decease but I can ride the Ryker. Why hate me when I found a way to get back out there. Believe me I wish I could Ride a bike again.
It's not a bike. It's not a trike. It is a summer street legal snowmobile 🎉😂😅😊
How cool would it be if you could quickly swap out the wheels for snowmobile bits
It actually does not look anything like a snowmobile. Not even a little bit. No similarity at all other that that can am makes snowmobiles too.
@@edswope28 The first generation Spyders do have that "came from a snowmobile designer mind" look
Question? Is a Harley with three wheels considered not a bike a bike anymore?
They look fun as hell I’ve got an mt09 now had afew 600 cc bikes getting this next f what peeps think they look fun as f after this Christmas getting 1 off these defo the 900 one tho got more go ect
I would say that in the uk they are expensive compared to the US!
seems kool :))
It's not a motorcycle it is a three-wheeled roadster that is the classification of the Can-Am's whether it's the spider or a Ryker
Great video and comments , Stab dampener fantastic and will remove the shaking in your handles.... Alain & Yellow
Thanks for the feedback. I am putting the steering damper on the growing list of things to get.
Maybe you just like trikes and don't need to justify it to anyone for any reason and if bikers don't like it they can pound sound.
I like regular trikes but two wheels in the front looks stupid
no
Looks like CanAm don't know what a TFT display are they still use the old shitty LCD screens!
It's a shame they only include a nicer TFT display on the (way more expensive) Spyder.
They are cheap pos. Get a spider f3 instead. I owned a 22 Ryker 900 they are junk
Had one since 2020 still have it no issues explaine why it's junk lol ?
3 minutes in road LOOKS AWFUL the way the bike is shaking!!
Yes, these back roads are really terrible.
