Riding to work over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge - Slow Rider vlog #1
You’re coming to work with me this morning on the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT. Riding from Maryland’s Eastern Shore, over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, to Annapolis.
I’m talking about:
Stock tires that are lasting too long,
A crazy incident at Ocean City Bike week 2024,
Why you didn’t see any videos from me this summer,
And a rather exciting motorbike trip coming up!

Why did I get the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT?
Переглядів 6 тис.4 місяці тому
Let me tell you why I got the Suzuki GSX-S1000GT. The sport touring category isn't exactly crowded these days. The GSX-S100GT is one of the most affordable new sport tourers available. It is more sport than tourer, with a 999 cc high revving inline 4 cylinder engine. This 500 pound bike is equally capable of mildly cruising around town, or eye-watering acceleration and speeds when opened up.
Does the RYKER STEERING STABILIZER make a difference?
Переглядів 2,6 тис.4 місяці тому
Watch this before spending your hard-earned money on an expensive steering stabilizer for the Ryker! One of the most common complaints about the Can-Am Ryker is the instability of the steering on uneven roads. There are some snake oil or placebo cures out there, so in this video I find out the truth to the question: Is the steering stabilizer worth it? I also get temporarily distracted from the...

Can-Am Ryker Rally - My first impressions
Переглядів 35 тис.Рік тому
My thoughts after the first hour of riding of a 2023 Can-Am Ryder Rally, Mrs. Slow Rider’s new toy. What is it like to ride a trike for the first time, after riding bikes… Why do trikes get so much hate from some bikers… Will Mrs. Slow Rider ever let me ride her Ryker again after this?

Unfortunately, the Honda Navi featured on this channel was stolen. Even with a GPS tracking device, this little motorcycle is proving hard to retrieve due to a couple of circumstances that you will see in the video. Watch as the motorbike is stolen and its location is tracked.

Kawasaki Vulcan S, 5000 Mile Review
Man that thing sounds good under load! Love the way my Tiger 900 sounds too.
Love riding on the bridge great views
I've ridden the Chesapeake Bay Bridge several times. BEAUTIFUL ride. If you ever have a chance, the Mackinac Bridge is an experience. Safe Riding.
Nice vid. Where do you mount your Gopro.?I tried using one and put it on top of my helmet and the sound was like I was in a hurricane. Also do you have an external mic setup?
Thanks! I use Chinmounts.com, been very happy with them, and I really like the point of view. The only way to get acceptable audio is to use a mic inside the helmet. I have a lavalier mic that plugs into a GoPro media mod, and I run the cable inside the helmet.
I've driven over that bridge once or twice. Well I guess if I drove over it once I had to come back that way, so I've been on it at least twice. :) Ecstatically bridges are beautiful. However, I do have a bit of a phobia when it comes to going over tall/long bridges. I'll stay in the middle lane have both hands on the steering wheel and if there is a vehicle in front of me I will get close, not too close, but close to it and ride it until near the end of the bridge. I don't look over at the rail sides at the water either - I only look right in front of me. I know. I know. I made this all about me. LOL :)
That ship causing the bridge collapse in Baltimore has me on edge now whenever I see a ship near the bay bridge.
I don't get it my Harley tires have over 12k on them and I'm not even close to needing new tires.
I suspect Harley installs good quality tires from the factory. And tires for sportier bikes use a softer compound for more grip, but less tread life.
Different riding styles and different bikes. I'm lucky to get 10k out of the tires on my Ultra limited.
I just changed the back tire on my 23 Lowrider s Saturday. Free tires for life from my dealer. Only 7400 miles on the bike. PS I probably would have turned around when I saw that water in the beginning. I did just that in Sea Isle NJ on Sunday. Didn't want to chance going through 3 feet of water.
If anyone needs to see details of the Ocean City bike week incident I mentioned www.oceancitytoday.com/news/local-walsh-family-hoping-for-miracle-after-hit-and-run-collision-in-ocean-city/article_61cd3796-75ec-11ef-ba84-cf327fcc6245.html
Mrs Slow rider says never let your slowrider wife see your speed. She will care. Don't make me put training wheels on that while your gone.
love your content brother. I just have a question is the seat comfortable for long rides?
Thanks. Really appreciate that! But no, the stock seat is not very comfortable for long rides. I did a 5 hour ride recently and after 3 hours it was almost unbearable.
Where i live, they do a couple of bands where the car tires would be, but they leave them proud fron the rest of the road, if your just going straight there isn't much of a problem but when you're turning they are really annoying and make you feel like you're are going to fall. I really hate them.
This bike is amazing, the engine is simply stunning, pulls in any gear.
Definitely!
Definitely welded in China
it looks good but that rear fender is awful, big chunk of metal/plastic for no reason
What if you changed the bike battery out or take it out for winter. Well you have to do the code allover again
Pretty sure it remembers the code. Good question!
Very good review. Thanks. I’m 73. Getting close to downsizing from my Indian Springfield. The 650 S appears to have reasonable power for its displacement and is much much lighter by about 300 lbs. when that day comes I’ll give it a look. I do love my Springfield though. I’ve ridden those roads in Caroline County so Hello from Frederick County on the Western Shore:) Take care and ride safe.
Hello MD neighbor. Thank you for the comment. The Springfield is a beauty for sure. I think you would find a Vulcan S to be a more spritely ride, and it does have the power to be exciting when you get the revs up. Also easier and cheaper to maintain compared to most larger bikes. Stay safe.
Thanks for your review/ thoughts on the Rally.
It's the helmet Bro. I've never experienced buffetting on my 05 Heritage softail classic. Had a Heritage before that and never experienced it. I put on a helmet and jeez did my head get a workout 😂😂😂😂😂😂 Haven't worn a helmet since.
I have a 883 sportster with fob siren etc, i want to get rid of it all, just turn ignition on and off, been told dynatech sells modules i can just connect what you all think?
Finally, some good analysis.
It’s beautiful. I have a Kawasaki eliminator. I’m thinking about getting a softail as well. All same reasons for me I didn’t wanna start out with a heavier bike.
Recently picked up a 2024 S1000GT+ in black just like yours. Added Helibars and a Sargent seat and can ride for hours. The bike came with a T-Rex Racing center stand which is a huge upgrade. I highly recommend that for all S1000GT owners.
one of the things I like about mine is when sitting on the bike the view in front of you ie the cockpit area is very clean and uncluttered . The TFT screen is nice and big and clear. This is what I like about Suzukis, they have a very simple and clear design approach even when servicing and taking off bodywork, everything (for a motorcycle) is accessible unlike some other brands.
It's not going to work
Next you need an app to start it 😅
Fuck my CVO
Stupid security system that only prevents you from taking the bike.
I am pretty short at 5ft 8 with a 31 leg and i ride an 07 heritage softail, i found bring the bars back so my shoulders were not hunched really stopped the bike from getting upset on overbanding (tar snakes). Also tyres and pressures will affect the feel too.
Simple and great video. You made it so much easy. 👍
Are you wearing earplugs while riding?
Yes. It is very loud without earplugs.
What are those gloves made of, foam?
Polyster. They are very cheap gloves that I got hot weather.
Excellent, thanks for the content.☝
I have nevet had a motorcycle or ridden on one but had to watch this just becsuse the machine is so beautiful to look at we dont see these much around london
Which windshield do you have?? I just bought a Ryker rally and am looking to get one
That is the Can-Am Adventure Adjustable Windshield. It's one of the most expensive Ryker windshield,, but I like it.
I’m very tempted to try and find one. Having such a reliable engine with smooth yet aggressive power and a more upright style is ideal to me. I’ll be curious to see how it fits being 6’4”. I’m Uber comfy on my vstrom 1000 but would love something along these lines as well.
reduce buffeting & cook your engine all in one fell swoop!
Steering stabilizer is great!!!
Tks answered my question when the dealership couldn’t
I have the Suzuki S 1000 2018, I just loved it. I have really considered these , great bike with the same motor as mine. Nice video and review Mate take care and greetings from South Australia. 😎
Anyone who has riden an atv should feel at home on a Ryker, it’s a very similar experience. Especially the feeling on corners.
How is the wind protection (helmet noise especially) with the windshield extension? Have you thought about getting the touring windscreen?
The touring windshield was temping but I hear a lot of people are not happy with it. The extension helps slightly. I feel it's well worth the $12 I paid for it, but it is still noisy enough that I feel the need to wear earplugs.
Awesome 👍
Thankyou very helpful
Well I can’t ride a bike cause of my decease but I can ride the Ryker. Why hate me when I found a way to get back out there. Believe me I wish I could Ride a bike again.
what a moron
I have the same in Triton blue. Had it first over a year now and wouldn’t trade it for anything else! It’s great to take camping! Thanks for the video!
Is the steering stabilizer a good idea on a Spyder f3?
One can see you riding reflected on the back of the passing lamp - we get two views at once- clever camera work!
Those lights are like little convex mirrors. Purely accidental though. I rarely do anything clever on purpose 😆
Totally agree we need better for our tax dollars
Hit those fresh chips can be a little dicey
I like regular trikes but two wheels in the front looks stupid
