  • In this video, we present our range of paper filters for coffee brewing and discuss how you can best match your paper filter to your April brewer.
    The paper filter you use, and how it sits in your brewer can be an important variable in coffee brewing. In this video, we explain our approach to matching the paper filters to the respective brewers whilst sharing our tips on rinsing for the most even distribution.
    Each April brewer has slightly different properties, often due to the manufacturing process. Due to this, our original size of paper filters did not perfectly fit each of our brewers, leading us to release a new updated size with a larger base diameter and an increase in height.

    I would like to try the April filters in my B75 dripper. I'm currently using kalita 185 filters. Will the large filters fit the B75 or should I order the smaller ones?

    • @coffeewithapril
      @coffeewithapril  7 місяців тому

      Difficult to say, it depends on the bottom diameter of the brewer you want to use the paper filters in.

      @@coffeewithaprilI think the base of the B75 is around 50mm which seems to be between the sizes. The Kailta 185 fit better than the 155, which has a narrower base

    Hi Patrik, wanted to know if the larger filter will fit the blue bottle dripper? I apologize for asking about the blue bottle dripper on your channel, but am saving for the glass April dripper in the future. Thank you and appreciate your videos. I've recently changed my pouring structure based on some of your prior video's and it has really helped me with better extraction from my coffee.

      We haven't tried but it most likely would. Thank you for watching. If you email our customer service via the website we can set you up with all the measurements.

    So how does these compare to the normal Hario wave filters?

    • @coffeewithapril
      @coffeewithapril  7 місяців тому

      Hario doesn't have wave filters but Kalita does. The difference would be the following:
      1. Shape
      2. Material
      3. Thickness of the material
      4 Micron of the material

    I’ve been getting very consistent and predictable results with the smaller (v2) of the filters :)

    Could you please elaborate if the paper material is different compared to a few months ago? Also what is the specific wood pulp? It would be good to have such info on the website.

    • @coffeewithapril
      @coffeewithapril  7 місяців тому +1

      The paper filter of the two sizes remains the same. It's the very first generation, released back in 2020 that had a different pulp. Everything since 2022 has had what we are using now.

      Thanks! Kinda related question - do you think it is worth upgrading to the newest ceramic version if I have the OG Kickstarter dripper? On the pics it looks like more finished product now and the shape is a little bit diff (especially of the base). But maybe it's just placebo and me trying to justify a new buy haha@@coffeewithapril

    Hi Patrick, I just got some new paper filter . It seems like they are a bit squished putting into the box(i guess its because they are taller). Have you noticed that when packing?

    • @coffeewithapril
      @coffeewithapril  7 місяців тому

      Thank you for sharing Milton. Which brewer do you have? The larger filters are made for the plastic brewer specifically, so if you have another brewer you should still be using the original (smaller) version.

      All paper filters have some sort of bypass and in many ways that can be beneficial.

    • @lukesp5721

      @@coffeewithapril 💯% agree! I was just being facetious 😊. I feel most coffee do amazing with a "Normal bypass brewer" like yours or the V60 for examples. But VERY occasionally a "zero bypass" or just a higher coffee to water ratio can be beneficial and other times "intentional bypass" adding water afterwards can boost some clarity and flavour notes. But in general the average homebrewer even professional can get excellent brews with a "normal bypass brewer" . I feel this zero bypass talk is more a pseudoscience play from industry players wanting you to buy their brewers or filters.

    For me, I always use room temp water when rinsing. Hot water seems to contribute aroma from the filter itself into the brew, at least in my experience.
