Thanks for the sitdown and chat looking forward to upcoming videos. I took your advice last year and started hititng tractor supply and walmart after season for feed and minerals. I got lucky and found Lucky Buck online at rural king for 50% off. Hope everyone had a good 2023 season! Can't wait unitil this season.
Thanks for the sit down Tom. Hope you and your family are well. And I hope the new kitten is doing well! Look forward to the springs up coming events! See you soon brother!
Glad to do it, have a little fun just riffing a bit, kind of like out on the deck in the afternoons at the cabin. Another NC trip planned for around Halloween.
love the chats, thanks for sharing thoughts, forgot to mention, our favorite actor is Franklin , the cop trying to catch Larry in DMCL, Vic Morrow ! keep up the good work !
Tom! Love the firepit chats! Fly fishing is something I definitely want to try! It looks like such an "old school" activity in the best way possible. I'm not sure I have time (or money) for another hobby, but maybe someday! It's great to hear you are planning another guided hunt! I used to think that style was snobby. We did a guided fishing trip, and it changed my opinions. A guided Turkey hunt is something I'd love to book down in Montana someday. Turkey hunting in this province is extremely limited ti a tiny zone and can take 20 years to be drawn. Always love catching up on these. Its like BSing with an old friend around the fire. Best to you and Mrs. Rook.
Shawn and Mike got started fairly cheap with the flyrods, are they quality rods, no, but it does give you an idea if you would like it without breaking the bank. The NC hunt is pretty nice, they don't go into the field with you (except to recover a harvest) , but do 90% of everything you normally do yourself. A bit more time just relaxing. I know you would like turkey hunting, more of a challenge to keep still and not spook them off. Take care and stay warm, our snow is about gone, 63F today.
Nice little fireside chat. I know it’s a little bit of a poke but I would highly recommend going to see the elk in Benezette. A tractor with a box blade and some helping hands will do wonders, cheers 🥃
Thanks for the chat. Our 2023 season was poor. One members sons and their friends really hunted hard (but not smart) creating immense pressure. Every weekend had 9-12 people hunting.
Thanks, sometimes that happens, the more you hunt, the less you see, but sometimes you get lucky also because you spent so much time out there. Take care!
Glad you’re back, it’s been to long since your last video, believe it or not people would enjoy watching more videos of almost anything you’re up to. 👍
We do rent tractors, tillers and brush hogs at Wellsboro Equipment. We could also deliver and pick it up if that makes it easier for you. I could probably even have one of our guys come run it for you.
Hello Doug, that sounds great, I will contact you when we are getting close. You can also send me an email to Rook.lxxxv@gmail.com if you want to get more details. I did check your website out, a nice range of equipment to rent for reasonable prices.
I hear you on holding out on the buck deer pics...a nice buck we've watched for a couple years was killed on the next property over that's the way it goes sometimes....
Good to see you back in a new Firepit chat . It's been a while I think since you have had a nice white background for these chats. Andrew looks so content what a nice cat he is. Those nice bucks have a way of disappearing when the season rolls in. But hopefully he lets his guard down in 24. Looking forward to seeing the new rifle and all the upcoming Camp video's this year. Take care and enjoy the down time it will go by fast .
Thanks Ian, the snow will be gone a few days, so I thought it was a good time to get out there. We get some more later in the season I may have to get out there again. You are right about the deer, they do have a way of avoiding us, but even the cameras went cold. I hope to find the sheds this Spring, but thats a long shot. Didn't get the scope put on yet, so that's first up. Hope to do a few things up there this year to help the wildlife and help us have a great time while we are there. Take care, stay warm, and RITPs!
Rook- happy new year and thanks for the chat and recap. Getting additional food sources will be huge for hunting prospects, and totally agree with your plans for the field before it becomes unmanageable. Look forward to your spring trip and footage of field work…maybe some drone shots. Stay safe. Hope Syntax is well. - Cheers
Thanks for another fireside update Tom! Hope you had a great Holiday Season. That buck is a real trophy and I hope he’s around next year for you & the crew. Enjoy the quiet time over the winter. Take care & stay safe!
you have more snow there than i have here in minnesota. that is a nice buck hopefully one of you get him. anyone besides steve ha. have a good new year.
Thanks! I can get a little fired up if my buttons get pushed too much, but I think people are looking for an escape, or entertainment, not someone ranting and raving. Hope you enjoyed the video and the cocktail.
Enjoyed the chat and video, this is another one of those videos I look forward to. Nice to hear a recap of 2023. Sounds like you got some great deals, hard to believe we are now starting to think about the upcoming season. Regards Mark
Like I think I said previously, time seems to speed up as you get older. The season, which ever one, trout, turkey, deer, will be here before we know it! Get those minerals out when you can. Take care and have a nice bowl in the basement for me!
Found you in the photo gallery for Daughtridge Farms 😂😂. Wouldn’t let me upload the photo here. I am thinking about maybe checking them out. I only live about 2 hours away in Wilmington NC
Hi Fred, I think that was from a couple years back when we took three 8pts one afternoon. Was a pretty special evening. It's a fun hunt, not the biggest of the bigs, but a good time and you will see deer.
Tom, Thanks for the update.Hope all the crew are well.Nice buck hope he gets bigger for this year's deer season.Been up at our camp also Working on the downstairs and second bathroom. Will look forward to your spring video Good luck with all your projects in 2024.3 Brothers Camp Robert Jack Jeff Kester Pike County PA. Take care Tom
Hello Tom. Good to see you again. My cousin was hunting at the deer camp in North Carolina where you go and he bagged a really nice buck. He said he will be hunting with you this year. Really looking forward to that video. Thanks for the video. Stay safe and enjoy the off season.
Hello, I think I was on a group text with him and Andrew a few weeks back. He will enjoy the small cabin where we stay. I did see his buck, that was a good one! Thanks again and take care!
I'm anxious to see what you decide on for a solar power station, looking for one myself. How much would it take to never have to use your generator at all? I'm enjoying a nice IPA and feel like I'm just hanging around the fire with you. Thanks for sharing.
Last deer season I came up Friday as always, and we did not turn the generator on until the following Saturday. It was only me for about 5 of those days, but the power consumption would have been just a bit more if everyone was there. We had the Ecoflow 2000wh and a Rockpals (no longer in business) 1800wh unit up there. The solar panel is a 210 watt panel. We turned the generator on since we didn't want to worry about saving energy, and that genny is a quiet one, compared to the neighbors that you can hear a long way away. Really depends on your use, a 2500 watt hour should do it, and two 210 watt panels. That way when the sun is not fully out you're getting good input into the solar generators. Hope that helps, questions let me know.
Thanks for videos hope you doing well bless you take care yourself 🇺🇸💪🙏 stay safe we doing well here in west Virginia glad to be watching your videos for years do you still watch war movies your video are really 😎 cool like watching them
Yes, all good here thanks! Still checking out the war movies, I look for them when I hit the Thrift stores. There are a few on my list I'm looking for. Thanks and take care! BTW, I did watch 'The Battle of Britain" when I was up for Deer Camp
They are the good ones. I did get contacted from an off brand, it is a big one 3600wh. I want to test it for a while and see how it does. Still waiting on a reply back from the company.
Mock scrapes tom. Pre season late summer start putting some mock scrapes on shooting lanes around the property. Ive been public land hunting for 20 years here in texas and i kill all my deer on scrapes/mock scrapes. I swear by them as well as my public hunting buddies. Its evident your deer are just as tough as mine, it dont take much to kick up some dirt under a branch and take a piss on it. And before the season starts i like to add estrous to them. Ive been very successful doing this it really seems to draw bucks out in the daylight and keep them in the area
No, we originally thought we could, but when they got there they said they could not (too much pressure from the big tank). Still using the 20lb tank for that one.
Brother ! I absolutely love watching your hunting videos and fireside chat! Keep up the hard work and maybe next year we will get a longer deer camp video 😊😊 Jason from Southwest Virginia brother

Thank you for the kind words. I scored a few more good deals last week also. Stealth game cams for $40. Take care and see you again soon.
Thanks for the sit down Tom. Hope you and your family are well. And I hope the new kitten is doing well! Look forward to the springs up coming events! See you soon brother!

Thanks!, Vic, I did really like him as an actor, and it seemed like a nice guy also.
Hello Tom ! Thanks for the fireside chat !
Any time!
Thank you for the recap. As always it's a pleasure.

Great chat Rook, see you in the spring. There’s nothing like opening your cabin in spring. I love opening mine in western Maine. Stay safe.
Thanks, if something comes up I'll post another. I'm sure you're waiting to open up you cabin. Take care!

Some times it's just a luck thing too, you know us hunters very superstitious!
Rook, great video. Love the Tim Horton's. Subscribers should query his story. Keep the videos coming.
Thanks, will check out the Tim story. More to come in a bit. Take care!

Tried a few in DE, still working out the techniques of it. Going to try again this year. Thanks!
Is your small stove at camp hooked to the outside propane
No, we originally thought we could, but when they got there they said they could not (too much pressure from the big tank). Still using the 20lb tank for that one.
If U ever want to come to Tasmania and hut trophy fallow deer free range .. just sing out ..
Thank you sir! If I was a tad younger I might take you up on that offer.
If you have some spare time you need to visit the Sportsman Shoe in Harrisburg Pa. You would't be disappointed. Biggest in the country.
Feb. 3 to 11
Thanks, I meant to mention that in the video. I haven't been to one since Sr passed away. Not sure I would enjoy it without going with him. Take care!
Flintlock season ended last Monday. 1/15

Sorry to hear that. I've enjoyed a few of theirs. "Get to the hoppa' was one of them, I think "Fly Eagles fly" was another.
