Were getting to the fun stuff now, in today's video me and Nathan set to remove the Turbo from the car. This is a little tricky, and required a lot of patience but very possible!

for those downpipe bolts youll need a set of wobble sockets which allow angle to get to them...they make jobs so much easier

I removed the manifold first made the job easier Than coming out from the bottom love the videos I've been doing all sorts on my mk4 👌
Hybrid turbo is a brilliant mod mines 300bhp and pulls so good. Great video mate.

@@ajrveedub - Thanks for watching bro, yes its no joke modding these 1.8T's but super worth it once they done.
If you can get a butane mix torch, they can make tight bolts much less likely to snap, it's a lot slower than Oct acetylene that garages use and it won't get as hot but the heat can help a lot to free things up

Hello, i have the same mk4 1.8t AGU and i just finished switching my turbo too. I upgraded to the k04 hybrid and remade the rest of the line
I'll be doing the turbo on mine soon.
I'll be doing my turbo from the top as my set 2 turbo swaps.
just brought a golf mk4 1.8t and its the best decision of my life

I had to do my k04 a couple of times, in the end it was quicker to take the cylinder head off completely haha
I've done this thing and its a pain in the a*s :)) I put a k04 001 on my agu, hope it works well after remap because if it blews up i need to do this again to put a k280 or something similar

Check manifold for cracks before re fitting it there known to crack
Ive got a 150 ARL diesel golf mk4 and my turbos just gone bang i bought it with 151 thousand miles and its got 189k on it now not bad for 1300 quid. Might fix it
I’ve done my downpipe a dosen times no, i just shortend a 17 wrench and take the top 2 out with that and the rest with a ratched. Taled me about 5-10 min to take off the downpipe.

Brad did your previous golf have the aum or agu engine? What one would you say is better for tuning/modifying? Cheers
It was AUM I would say AUM is better because of the wideband ECU
Wait till u put a turbo back exhaust down pipe on it thats good fun on axel stands the milteck I have is 3 inch its a bastard with the subframe heat shields etc. Can't remember im sure I got my turbo out the top way took the gear box mount off n pulled the engine 4ward n it came out. I also at the time couldn't get a VR6 MAF from anywhere new or old 1 came up on ebay for €12 from Germany and still works today

taking the driveshafts off would of been the most straightforward way of doing it
OMFG... Got a mk4 tdi with a turbo that needs to come out.
Looks like it should just come right out from the top, but everyone says you have to pull the driveshaft and pull it out from below. What a nightmare.

It’s funny how we all have the same frustrations and things that go wrong working on cars, I suppose if everything worked fine and jobs were all straight forward it wouldn’t be worth doing, and it’d be less satisfying. I had a brand new lease car last two years everything worked no jobs needed doing & I hated it, it was boring.

Should have just dropped whole engine and box out , carried out all your mods and repairs then put it back in , would have been quicker in the long run 👍🏻

imagine taking the exhaust manifold out 2 times for welding a leak, and the welds cracked both times

The internals are built different (unsure exactly whats changed) but it makes it more powerful 👍

You should get yourself some wd40 fast release, made specifically for getting bolts undone, blow torch helps a lot too 😂😂🔥🔥🔥
