I didn't know how much I missed the 1.8t content until it returned!!
Happy to know you're liking it! 👌
Respect for doing a complete job in change the half moon seal and metal gasket in addition to the spark plug well and cover gaskets. I'd wager most people/garage who've "changed their rocker cover gaskets" don't bother with these 2 extra bits.
Wonder how long this legend of a car will keep attracting adolescents
And mk2 and mk3 and mk5
Still does along with the mk3 and mk5
@@gpubenchmarks7905 mk2 for lyfe
I littrally just got my 01 gls a few weeks ago, and id say this car is going to be attracting for years
@@erohwnaibsel same! i have the 01 golf gl and its such an amazing car and so fun to drive
I still love my 2001 MK4 Jetta with the 1.8T, only have a little over 57000 miles on it. When that turbo kicks in still pushes me back in my seat.
Ryans here..... Been waiting for the upload, loving it Brad.
Im glad the mk4 content is back! Helps me out alot
Loads more to come 😅
Intercooler pipes I made my own up but u can get a map sensor blanking plate for cheap. Love the videos man this AGU build take me bk to my old days thanks for showing ppl you can go old school
Ive had many mk4s and was always spending money trying to modernise them in the end I just baught a mk4 r32 and was happy with it
Really enjoy Your vids! Proud owner of mk4 myself. Cool, needed content, man - keep up the good work!!
Even though the budget is low. this is exciting for me personally because following your series with your old MK4, i have owned an AGU MK4 this whole time so some stuff didnt apply, so this is interesting. almost no one on the net use cable throttle and narrowband 1.8T. Kind Regards from New Zealand
Really do appreciate that you look after 1.8 turbo :). Cheers mate.
Mate, i bought a MK2 Golf today so i'm looking forward to seeing more of what you do to yours my dude.
Use unitronic wideband conversion harness. It’s plug n play. I have it on my car. All you do is remove terminal pin 52 and 71 from the connectors. It sounds difficult but I had NO experience in electrical and with the terminal removal kit from ecs it made it easier. I promise you’ll love you did it. I’m on a K04 tune with 550cc injectors
What a down to earth pair of lads!!! Love little channels like this!
Keep it up bro!
Thank you mate! 👌
I have a soft spot for Mk4s, had a pd130 years ago after writing off an EP3. Drastically different but was a great car. Slammed it on Audi TT 18s and had it for about 3 years. Ive got a 7.5 GT Wagon now. Subscribed!
Lovely choices 👌 thanks mate 👍
Got my AGU tuned by Chris from Tuning Technics and it's rapid, super happy with what he did.
Vids are getting way better keep it up 👍
Class video again mate!
Got a standard front splitter you can have here in Croydon to lol
Awsome video lads keep them coming 👍
Finally some quality mk4 content🙏
💕
I'm loving the consistent uploads lad 👍
Thanks mate 👌
I feel you with the tuning. I'm looking for some to tune my AEB, which has a throttle cable, and no one wants to touch it. The sad thing is the old scool guys could do the job no problem. But its as if the vag community has forgotten how to do it. But obviously the knowledge is available somewhere.
Just a suggestion, you could make it look like a first car, since you're focusing on power. Will be cool asf to smoke people
That would be wicked, could probably get some funny reactions out of that 🤣
@@BWTV Yeah definitely! I've just had an insane thought, L plates? That would be hilarious 😂
Blessed 🙌 thank you so much from Ohio!
good to have a mk4 back on the channel :D
make it more like sleeper car and put 1.4 badge at the back
No
makes me want to put 2.0 on my VR6 beetle
Nice to see the mk4 content again
Ha! I snapped the tool my first time too. Always something.
I've had in-car tunes where the turner had an wideband sensor and he would stick in the tailpipe and use those readings while tuning.
Oh that's clever
Just about to buy another one myself there great fun these 1.8ts and don’t break the bank to have a bit of fun with
Loving this build man 👊🏽 Please try and do something about the looks too, would be cool to see you diy paint the front bumper and buy a DA to learn detailing with!
Thanks mate 👍 I'll definitely do something about the front bumper
I can vouch for tuning technics had my agu done by him and it flew afterwards 👌
Sweet that's good to know 🤙
Half hour video 🥵🥵😘
😂 I'm treating y'all 😋
I can't wait to see this hybrid ❤️
It's gonna be good hopefully 🤞🤞
Very interested in this series, Cheers brad! had a couple of mk4 Golfs myself.
Thanks for watching 👌
@@BWTV Did you wash the sump out dude>?
I just bought a 2003 golf mk4 automatic 💯 first car
"this engine is belt driven". Correct me if I'm wrong but there's the timing chain, that spins the camshafts from the crank. And then there's an auxiliary belt which is also driven from the crank but charges the alternator. ( Answer to your question at 22:47 ).
Phil is now at mallory he can map 3.8 management like you said
I have a agu in my mk4 golf with a few mods I paid £300 (this is like my 7th mk4 now but I'm keeping this one) for it a year ago I've gone through 4 gear boxes and 1 engine 2 months ago 😂 I'm running 218bhp with the standard ko3 turbo will be replacing turbo soon for more power lol.
The belt drives the first cam water pump and crank the chain drives the second cam and on certain engine codes the vvti
Wow great video, I see you tried to get Duffy in the video with like numerous attempts, but she was having none of it on your first day!
Got all the bits for a wideband conversion cheap if u need
sold mine in january had to buy another by march missed it too much
For Petrol MK4 owners i HIGHLY recommend to clean the oil pan every oil change because dirt builds up and can lead to oil pump issues and camshaft problems.
custom remap stage 2 is the best on AGU it made my one rapid
Ko4 turbo with 2.0 coils, and bigger injectors, front mount intercooler, stage 3 tune, you’ll be able to push 400hp outta the stock block
Brad is like a master tech when it comes to 20vt now lol
😂😂 not far off!
my dad bought a mk 4 in 2017 with 200k kilometers, and i was 15 at the time, now im 20 and i drive it and in the first in my family to put some money and spend some time with it..
I love ur channel🥰
Plz upload more
I wish I had time to :(
hey buddy, swap your cam chain tensioner to VVT change knock and o2 sensors and itll run awp ecu easily. there is also a aeb / agu plug and play standalone ecu on ebay!
got more details?
@@Frankie24Accord it is really well documented on VW vortex and the audi pages. If you have a AGN 1.8t from an early new beetle its even less work you just have to add vvt. If you have an AEB or other narrow band non vvt engine you have to swap the engine harness, knock sensors, o2 sensor(s), cam chain tensioner, valve cover and the ecu itself. Could also stay narrow band but go to a standalone ecu, www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124470231293
sup bro , love your videos very funny and informative , okay i have a golf 4 1.8t also , maybe you know whats the issue here from past experience , when i lock the steering full left or right and move , i hear a clunking noise at the front wheel , take note , new control arms , new stabilizer links, new stabilizer bar bushes , new bearings , new tie rods and ends , new inner and outter cvs , new ball joints , new wheel hubs , new brake pads and disc's , new coil overs all that is for both sides . i tried to listen but cant seem to isolate what the problem is , maybe you can give me some advice ..
Phil Cooper from Mallory performance is your guy. Ive got a S reg golf like yours, with the AGU engine. He tuned my golf last year and hes a wizard, his tuning knowledge is second to none. Especially with the 1.8t platform. Check out his channel. Where one of his videos hes live tuning my golf. Ive got videos of my golf on my channel aswel. Good luck.
I bought a MK4 GTI yesterday. I'm so excited so thx a lot for the vid
you will love it
@@D1zzyV I will. I am in love with the car since I was 10
@@wochsauf6208 Got pictures of it on the gram? Will drop a follow. Cool to see new golf journeys!

Thanks for the support 😁
28:05 whenever Car Throttle talk about bikes
😂😂😂
Question for the podcast --> What got you into cars? was it games or something different?
Check out "Expert tuning" in Chaldon Surrey
Loving the MK4 content Brad, we need to link up at some point and you can have a feel of my 300bhp MK4. Great cars😄
I just put a new valve cover gasket on my aum 1.8t and i just used oil as sealant.
Hopefully it's okay 🤞
@@BWTV no leaks so far lmao
Hay mate iv just got a 2001 vw golf mk4, keep getting a engine light come on, P0172 code, fuel trim bank 1 system too rich,.. iv replaced the o2 sensors, maf sensor, coolant sensor, new spark plugs, and it’s still throwing the code? Please help any ideas?
Hi After the car warms up and been running for a little bit have you ever gotten like a whistle winding sound goes away when you are pushing the throttle but comes back when idling?
Music making me think i had a steam notification on my PC ahahaha
28:00 Sounds like an M3/M4 to me
Im struggling to find injector cups for my 1.8t APX anyone know where i could find some
Wide or narrow band .. how would one know what they have?
what are the major problem with mk4 because am about to buy one in the next few days
How can I tell if my 2002 1.8 a narrow band?
Could have just got one with a map sensor don’t need to plug anything in to it
Which do you prefer, Polo 1.8t or a Golf 1.8t?
Not that I don't have complete faith in the 190k mile Golf..... but how much is a wrecker 1.8T 20V?
It just hit me I can do the exact same stuff to my Octavia since it shares the exact same bits with the mk4.
Hybrid turbo Skoda go nyoom?
😂 skoda go brrr
can I come build your golf with you lols you boys are slow on the tools man
wish i could find an mk4 for that cheap, mine was 3 grand lmao
If you are going to go faster, upgrade your headlights - dip beams at least - to Osram Nightbreaker or better. Best £25 you'll spend. You'd benefit from using flushing oil in your oil before changing to internally clean your engine. Ever heard of XADO products? Check their engine additives out for restoring engine power and compression.
Whats the name of the tool? "one of these" does not come up in google
Your buddy reminds me of Ewen Bremner lol
The engine is belt driven. The belt links one cam shaft to the crank. The chain links the driven cam shaft to the second cam shaft. The chains job is to keep the cam shafts in time. (Not really the best design).
Odd but makes sense 👌
@@BWTV ye it is odd, not a good Idea. Didn't last long, they changed the chain in the later models to gears but kept having issues with the gears wearing. I'm not sure if They ever found a solution 😂
More Duffy
Just can’t bring myself to get rid of my MK4. It’s only a 2.0L and it’s definitely not problem free but somehow just have bonded with it after 2.5years
They're so easy to get attached to
@@BWTV I know the feeling. My mum had one for 17 years. She bought in new a 1.4 match. She traded it in in 2019 for a Land Rover. It was the only car I can remember her owning (she got it when I was 3) and I grew up with it.Mainly in the back seat lol.
I just loved it so much I had to get my own. I’d love an R32 or a nice 1.8T I’d probably keep forever if I had the cash..
you can’t beat them
I remember her signing for it e.c.t at the dealer and sat on the driveway in it when it had 8 miles on the clock
Brad “we’ve got a ko3s turbo with supporting mods” me “ well uprated clutch before any mods first and foremost” Brad “ an intercooler” me “🤷🏽♂️😂😂😂🤷🏽♂️” correction although an intercooler does technically support an uprated turbo my personal opinion as a life long petrol head is always upgrade the clutch before other mods. Although I’m a huge fan of the Channel Brad the cars you showcase are exactly what I’m into so huge respect for that!
Oops good point, although the clutch has actually just been done so we'll see how long it lasts 🤣 thanks for the comment 😁👍
Stock clutch can handle the stock turbo just fine. Id need to see some paperwork to believe that crusty ass stock turbo is anything more than that.
so whats the chain for?
my mk4 has same agu as yours . do i need to do the pickup pipe like u did or is it ok to just put fresh oil in. also the head gasket should i do mine. doing plugs oil / filter fuel filter. would like to do the coil packs but cant seem to find many for the agu
It's worth doing the pick up pipe just incase, as the dipstick plastic pipe crumbles and can clog it 👍
@@BWTV my dipstick did brake so i got a new one . also when doing the fuel filter today i broke the clip connectors that go to the filter and broke the pump connector. i need a new line a clips . got pump sorted
Please have me on the podcast. I beg 😂😂
Duffs a good lad isnt he...🥰
Duffy is a she! 🥰
@@BWTV ohhh im sorry
Chain drive the oil pump as it's internal
Ah that makes sense 🤙
@@BWTV Very odd but equally cleaver design.. Long process to change it all though!
Honestly give it a go when you do your cambelt etc 🤙🏻
honestly pal you would benefit from a impact driver or a impact ratchet...would benefit you beyond words hahaha
I really do need to get one 🙃
Hello, I have the exact same type of engine on my mk4. Its modified too. Your car also as a compressor instead of a turbo ?
These engines are turbocharged 👍
@@BWTV Men, believe me. I have one from 1998 and i am changing the turbo. When i was taking off the old one it was different. It didnt had coletores, i am waiting for them to change everything
Guys you're all amazing, support for a little red turd is unreal 😂 I tried censoring all the swear words but probably missed some 🥲 hope you enjoy the long video!
did you get a mk4 again ?
May as well shed some weight and take out the back seats if you're gonna go full send. Turn em into another couch for the garage?
That's a cool idea
Timing belt is easy job. 2-3 hours tops for novice. Engine mount trickiest bit
Posted?? Injector cups?? Next day from your local tps
I have no local TPS 😅 Not open to the public anymore supposidly
@@BWTV vw dealership then.... quicker than posted parts
These cars are reliable right?
Still waiting for part 3 what happened to monday bro
Sorry mate life gets in the way! Trying to do these bits to the cars whilst working full time, plus making time for family/friends is tough.
Videos will be up when I can 🤙 thanks for waiting though
@@BWTV no worries hope your good bro and family
Man can’t beat a mk4
Mk5
If u need a person to tune it hit up Chris at tuning Technics 100 percent he’s mapped my 1.8t s3 and loads off other cars off mine
K03S has a Silencer "Hence the S on K03S"
Idk where you've heard this but this isn't true
Should’ve got a PD
I mean for variety purposes yeah, but you would prefer to drive a petrol surely ?
Auq with 180 petrol horses🐎and Arl with only 150 diesel donkeys🚜 but there is really no difference other than a third less time at the pumps which helps with the smelly hand thing. But if I'm going to a wedding it's the petrol🤙👍
@@OG-97 I’ve got the pd130 myself, bulletproof, good fun and easily tuneable, but yeah you’re right a petrol is more enjoyable to drive
Spray the wheels black with a rattlecan
I like your thinking 😎
