      Shane..I watched your video of putting a airbrush set together...I bought a air compressor with all the features you recommended and it comes with 2 double action airbrushs...my question is this..price is not a factor..so what is the best and easiest airbrush to get...Thanks in advance....

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  6 років тому

      so if budget is not a concern, then I would recommend harder and steenbeck they are pricey but are probably the best brushes out there and are easy to take down and maintain, also Iwata is very solid too and much more value for money they would be the two I would go for, I hear great things of Badger which would be easy to get in the US but have never used them myself but they are meant to be great too

      Hi Shane..i bought a Harder & Steenbeck ULTRA 0.2 Gravity Feed Double Action Airbrush and im buying a Iwata but im still checking them out....thanks again for your help...

    What I love about Vallejo and Perfect Plastic Putty is you don't even need the water: just squeegee the putty in place and then wipe the residue off at 90 degrees to the seam. All you have left is a tiny thread of putty in the seam. You just can't do this with Green Stuff or Squadron Green.

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  5 років тому

      it is perhaps the best of putty options out there

    Well done Shane on the 10,000 milestone, as you mentioned the water based fillers are brilliant & Mr. Surfacer 500 works well too. Looking forward to the painting vid. Happy 😃 modelling.

      I have been wanting to try Mr.Surfacer for a while as I would to give it a go for doing the textures for my Shermans.
      Stay tuned for the painting vid which should be hitting your screens in the next few weeks

    Wow, 10k, congrats! Great tips, excellent video, as well. I too prefer water-based putties, nice and easy to work with. I like lacquer-based primers though, smooth, hard finish and excellent adhesion. Thanks for another great video.

    interesting project, although dragon tiger kits are very popular i can not remember that i have ever seen someone tackling the crew figures that belong to it. will be great to see how this comes along.

    Hi Shane, really great video (as are all the others I’ve been watching over the last few days). I’m new to airbrushing and was wondering, when you prime the models do you thin the surface primer? Sorry for the noob question!

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  3 роки тому +1

      So I tend to use primer from rattle can more and more which is just sprayed in thin sweeping coats, primers from airbrush do require a little thinng to work best

  • @chrisbolton2500

    Hi Shane.
    Have you considered using little shards of plastic shaved from the sprue and melting it into place with extra thin?
    I've had some success filling small gaps you get in figure assembly.
    Just a thought.

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  6 років тому

      I have heard of this method before, but I am massive fan of using acrylic putty as it doesn't do any damage to the plastic beneath

    Has anyone else found Dragon 1/35 figures to be significantly larger than Tamiya 1/35?

    • @longlance67
      @longlance67  4 роки тому +1

      Tamiya figures have always been a little undersized compared to other manufacturers but there recent figures sets have seemed to brought the scaling more inline

    • @strontiumstargazer5096
      @strontiumstargazer5096 4 роки тому

      Shane Smyth - scale models Hello Shane! Your feedback is really helpful. Tamiya is small rather than Dragon big. This gives me the confidence to mix and match model brands correctly. I bought a tamiya schwimmwagen to match dragon figures and found the figures too big or should I say the car too small. All the best with your channel - I’m subscribed.
