  • Hey, it's Mayim, and I am successfully raising two happy, healthy, vegan children. Yes, it's possible, but I definitely get asked a lot of questions from non-vegan folks about how and why it's done. If you have questions, or if you're curious how you can start raising a vegan family as well, check out this video!

The cake thing is something I’ve thought about. My son and I aren’t vegan but he has a friend in class who is. He wanted to make cakes for the class but didn’t want her left out - so I made a vegan cake too. Then we found out one of his teachers is vegan as well so was very excited. My boy’s 5 and respected his friend: respect is often missing when people talk about dealing with others vegan diets being difficult.

This actually gave me tears towards the end of the video... just because the way how some people react to veganism and how passionate we are towards the welfare of animals, also I’ve been pessimistic thanks to people being so negative towards us, I know that’s quite common in a lot of vegans
    Thanks for this Mayim ☺️❤️

keto cycler keto cycler You still never answered the 15 nutrients that’s missing from our diets, I’m waiting..........................🤣😭
If vegans are screwed because we need supplements then guess what... you’re pretty screwed too, you do realise that 40% of the US population has b12 deficiencies and many health and nutrition experts advise every adult to take b12 tabs along with other supplements🤣 many vegans only require b12 mainly if they’re eating a healthy plant based diet but we can actually get that from natural sources. I guess you’re gonna ignore the research that has proven a plant based diet can reverse heart disease, diabetes, can reverse certain cancers.
Again you ignore all of the high class vegan athletes and people that are still alive after never touching animals😂🤷‍♂️ I know people all around the world in many different countries that are alive and extremely healthy and guess what, they’re also vegan 😄😄✊
Also I very much doubt you know many vegans with your attitude otherwise you would actually know the truth
Do you even realise the amount of animal products that are flavoured with seasoning 🤣🤣🤣🤣 what tf are you even on about😂😂 and so what if something adds flavour, that’s the whole point🤪😂😂😭
So when am I gonna die? I’ve been vegan for 20yrs, I’m still not dead, being as you’re such a health expert please tell me how worried I should be about my arteries getting clogged with vegetable products🤣 please do some research and look at both sides of the argument otherwise you just look so foolish😂😂

Lewis Blanchard These people are transitioning to become vegan (which is perfectly fine, it can take some getting used to), or have decided to be on a high plant-based diet; either way, they are NOT vegan. Becoming vegan is not a fad, it’s a way of thinking; thinking about the welfare of animals, the environment, and your health. If suddenly you stop caring about these things, then perhaps a vegan can become non-vegan; but mostly these people just never were vegan to begin with. Some people just want to try it out for kicks!

    • @rainbowofboxes8021

Lewis Blanchard LOL 😆 My bloodwork says otherwise. I’ve been vegan over 10 years, and I’m not deficient. In fact my doctor (who is not vegan) has said whatever I’m doing, keep it up, she hasn’t seen bloodwork like mine in any of her meat eating patients. 😏
The Canadian Food Guide changed this year and now recommends a plant-based diet; it even removed the old recommendation of drinking milk, and have replaced it with water.

this reminds me of how i asked the lady at my school cafeteria if i could order vegan meals and she told me that the government doesn't support vegan food for kids because "it is dangerous because there aren't all the vitamins we need in it"(i live in germany though). but actually the food we got served there was so unhealthy. i could order the vegetarian meal but sometimes they even forgot to cook vegetarian and then i had to eat french fries (funny because they are vegan i know). but that is not even near to the standard amount of vitamins.
i just realized that nobody supports vegan people, they actually try to make you eat dairy and meat. i think if there would be a supportive society that respects and supports the choice to be vegan it would be a lot less harder to turn vegan (e.g. i needed like 3 tries in 3 different years to stand up for my believe and to actually turn vegan then)

@@nocompulsioninlove2148 Correction. The "ex vegans" who are now "carnivores" are in fact people with eating disorders and a range of other mental illnesses. They are all people who followed various bizaare and obsessive eating plans and who in the past, I would hazard a guess, were on many different diets etc. The fact they are saying they had health issues is case in point as that is far from the norm for someone on an actual normal standard vegan diet. Second, the fact they are now saying that they are carnivores is simply hilarious. Depending on which but job UA-camr I'm thinking of, they are either trying to be a carnivore because again they crave obsessive/limited eating and this is another excuse or they're having a good old laugh whilst getting the attention they oh so craze or it's the third option that they actually think the word is carnivore as they are so ill-informed that they don't even know that the word they were looking for was omnivore.
Anyone having problems whilst vegan is doing something seriously wrong, just like a lot of people who aren't vegan who have poor health due to diet. Being vegan used to just be a way of eating that was as moral as possible that also happened to be good for your health, full stop. Then at some point social media occured and people with various issues latched onto it as it was increasingly in popularity, as something they could either promote or obsess about. I see so many UA-camrs just drinking smoothies, comsuming too much sugar and prancing around in next to nothing. That isn't normal. It is not veganism. It's called an eating disorder (or playing up to the cameras depending on intention/self awareness).
Back when I was only vegetarian, I had a "vegan" housemate. She hardly ever ate and she couldn't cook. I felt sorry for her and I was a decent cook so I would offer her my food but she would say it wasn't vegan (even tho most of it was). So I started only cooking vegan so there was no chances I slipped the wrong thing in. She would come up with excuses re I prob cross contaminated it etc etc. Eventually I realized all she ate all day was two tablespoons of something, eg corn, green beans and that was it. Now I would never call this girl vegan. She had anorexia. She just chose to say vegan as most people at that time back in the UK were either omnivore or vegetarian so it made for a ready excuse not to eat. When people started to accommodate her more, that is when she started inventing other allergies etc as the first excuse no longer served her. That is not veganism, that is an eating disorder. Some of the people now claiming to be carnivore are doing much the same or influencing those with issues to do so. Tip: don't watch vegan social media people who aren't wearing many clothes or who aren't eating normal sized hearty cooked meals and guess what, you'll be fine as a vegan!

Your answers are exactly what we say. They are happy, healthy and energetic....and are so tall for their age that they are mistaken for 7 + 8. I'm a vegan chef myself and we are vegan for the planet, health and the animals. We don't force others to change who are not vegan and have family and who are curious about it. Our pediatrician has approved of our littles begin vegan and is fully supportive. Thank you so much for sharing your experience as a vegan family. 💕

It really is wonderful to see more people talking about this and especially since you're well known, that definitely helps spread this information to others a little bit further. I've been vegetarian and vegan for a grand total of 14 years, though this time around being vegan is significantly easier and overall much smoother. Less than lovely medical issues are under more control then they were last time, I have most the answers to what was going on and what specifically I am intolerant to food wise. For my son's recent birthday party, all but one thing was vegan, and people were honestly surprised by that, I'm almost done transitioning him fully over. Unfortunately not everyone on my or my son's side understand why I choose to have us live and eat this way, ultimately I am doing what's best for us, and thankfully am not getting a hard time from his pediatrician because of this.

Ex Shenanigan what gut issues do vegans have? And heart attacks?! They’re mainly caused by high cholesterol (which is only found in animal products), as B12 is a bacteria that’s been depleted from soils, animals are injected and supplemented with B12, so that you can get it second hand through the dead body of a supplemented animal. (And 40% of Americans are still B12 deficient even though they eat meat), vegans can just take a supplement directly twice a week and have higher levels in their blood than the average meat eater. Who has really been brainwashed? 🤔

As if I couldn’t love you any more. You had me at the blog post about extended breastfeeding when I was feeling guilted into weaning my then 3.5 year old son, then all the references of they might be giants, and now this. I hope that with enough knowledge I can be as confident as you when explaining to people that my kids are vegan and that’s just how it is. I’m not the smartest or best at getting to the point of what I’m trying to say, and when I’m feeling like I’m being interrogated by someone I feel like I fumble my words and look sillier than I am because I’m thinking too hard about what’s happening in their brain 😂 I’m definitely buying your book. I don’t have any issue getting my kids to eat a varied diet. They’re 11,9,4.5 and 2.5 and the younger ones just love food and the older ones are that little bit older and just understand that consuming animal products is incredibly immoral. I’m struggling with the not raising them judgy though... I don’t know I think it’s what humans do, and it’s hard to explain to a 10 year old that “we don’t eat cheese because a beautiful cow had her new born calf taken from her while screaming and crying, never saw it again then was strapped to a machine for a few years before being killed just so your pizza can be a bit saltier” and tell them not to judge someone who pays for that degradation, pain and torture to happen purely because they can’t or won’t think about the truth. My 11 year old finds it really upsetting and disgusting that people can know this happens and still support the industry. No matter how much I tell him “you do you and they do them”. When people say “oh I just couldn’t, I love bacon/cheese/chocolate too much”... it’s frustrating and ignorant.

I felt bad but couldnt stop so she said look i will do it because i like it so much but i have to spit . I wasnt comfortable with it but i let her and that is called being mature and considerate

Rebeca Cabral humans are NOT designed to consume any dairy products and dairy actually depletes our body of Calcium

this is your brain on veganism everyone, breast feeding your child now depletes its body of calcium.

@@@DerpBearGamingUK HUMAN breast milk is NOT included when talking about dairy products, OF COURSE, women should breastfeed if they are able.
Human breast milk is literally designed to be the perfect food for human babies, the same way cow's milk is designed to be the perfect food for calves. Each animal should only consume the milk of it's own species (except of course in surrogate cases where there aren't any other options, when it comes to babies of any kind, any milk is better than no milk, but even then human babies should not be given cows milk, it's even printed on the damn packaging).
Once humans have been weaned, they produce less of the gut enzyme called lactase meaning they can no longer properly digest lactose, hence the considerable amount of lactose intolerance in humans.
To summarise, no ADULT mammals are designed to consume milk. Ever been told that you shouldn't give cow's milk to a cat? Same thing, they're weaned, they're not babies, they don't need it.

@@Es_Tay Whilst yes a lot of people are lactose intolerant, there are a lot of people who also arent. Europeans have been drinking milk for so long now we have evolved to drink it with ease. It's not like 'cows milk isnt designed for us', it is very similar to human milk and provides almost every nutrient a person needs.

Thank you for talking about this. I’m raising my son vegan and he’s only a year & a half just now (so not at that stage where he’s questioning why he doesn’t eat certain things) and no one else around us is vegan. It’s just reassuring to hear you speak about it. All of those questions have went through my head as in how to answer them to my son and the ppl around us. Just thank you 💕

Except she is contradiction the Talmud while being Jewish and claiming to believe in God (or G-d as you would write it because you don't understand the Old Testament (not that you have to if you are Jewish)): Sotah 26b, Sanhedrin 54a, 57a, 76b-78b, 85b, Baba Kamma 37b, 113a-b, 'Abodah Zarah 26a-b. Iv been told I am cruel and I'm depriving her even tho I make sure she gets everything she needs! Thank you for making this video ❤
