- Hey, it's Mayim, and today I'm baking some delicious (vegan!) cookies with my boys! You can click the link below for a coupon for Manischewitz products, and I've also included the recipe I used.

Potato Starch Butter Sugar Cookies
1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon salted butter, room temperature
5 1/4 tablespoons powdered sugar
1/4 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3/4 cup + 1 1/4 tablespoons potato starch
3/4 cup + 2 1/2 teaspoons cake flour (all purpose and cornstarch)
Powdered sugar for dusting cookies
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Line the baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a mixing bowl, beat butter, powdered sugar until creamy, light and fluffy. Add in the vanilla extract and stir well. Fold in the potato starch, cake flour and mix well until a soft dough is formed.
Divide the dough into 2 rounds. Use your palms to shape them into small balls. To make the pattern on the cookies, use a fork and press gently onto the top of the round cookies. Dip the fork in water after each press to prevent the cookie dough from sticking to the fork.
Place baking sheet in the bottom part of the oven. Bake for about 10 minutes or until the cookies turn very slight brown. Remove from the oven and let cool for about 5 minutes. Dust some powdered sugar over cookies before serving.

You may not think your kids are paying attention to what you are cooking, they focus more on the eating :) I did not think my boys did either until one day I asked one of them who was at college what he was eating because I was positive it was junk food and he said (mom moment, the tears are coming) "I eat good mom, I make all the things you made for us growing up" 🙂 How great is that?

As a former boy myself, I have to say these boys are giving their mom sass at a 10th grade level. She should be very proud and aggravated lol
As a homeschool mom, this is the activity where I make my boys write down every mixture, physical change and chemical change during baking. Science time in the kitchen!
I love hearing that , home schooling is how it should be now, public schools are just not safe anymore.
I laughed out loud how calmly and naturally Mayim reacted when her son wanted to play catch with the dough. This is my life in a nutshell. :)

@@MayimBialikI feel your pain at 1 point in my home we had a free roaming rabbit, 2 guinea pigs, and 5 cats and only 2 humans to break up all the chaos though usually it was only 1 human(myself) since the other worked a full time job and side jobs on the weekends.

I love this! I started baking or cooking with my two kids more often. Part of the reason is because their math curriculum requires then to bake, so that's fun! Sometimes, well, most times our kitchen sessions are comical, but memorable, too!

Looks like a lot of fun! My dad used to make the best biscuits. He would also make what he called and I think of to this day as "crazy" biscuits. These are what is left after using a glass or a cup to cut the dough into biscuits. Just through 'em in the oven and bake 'em as they are! What fun memories I have of this.
