I’ve gotten this question a bunch on this video but I’ll respond once here. Chumming brings in wayyy more fish then if I had just thrown bait and walked the bridge. Trust me I tried. I spent multiple chum-less days on the bridge with literally zero fish to show for it. The sharks will find you either way, as long as you’re catching fish they’ll sense you out and track you down. 🤙
Videos keep getting better and better. Thanks for explaining the set-ups, rigs, and tackle you are using. Great to hear the excitement in your voice. That bike must have made it A LOT easier getting out there. See ya back in Brig :). Capt Andy Riptide BnT.

Excellent video, we're down here right now and we too live in NJ. Been coming down for 30 years now, used to camp in Long Key State Park for a month at a time during the winter and have caught everything imaginable. Best catch this trip so far was a 25" permit very close to where you're fishing. Sometimes releasing bleeding fish and chum in the water seems to attract those sharks, have had the same thing happen many times. We used to catch them for fun but no more. Are you down in the Keys right now? We're here for about another week.
@@dillonfishing Ahh, too bad but to be honest it's blowing 30 out there right now and the fishing hasn't been great short of a couple surprise catches. I sent you a photo on your Facebook messenger you might like of a long key bridge catch. Maybe we'll bump into you another year, I can see us coming down at least once every winter again.
@@dillonfishing Nice man I actually have the same exact reel. Have it spooled with 20 but it’s such a compact metal reel for a 3500 with 30 lbs of drag. Might suit me to put at least 30 lb braid on it

I use to go down there all the time I also would fish alligator alley I also would fish any rivers I could find on map fish any open spots could find from shore is alot of wonderful fishing in FLORIDA 👍👍👍
Hey Dillon, I'm a fisher from Australia, for bridge fishing, you need a shorter more rigid rod so you can rip them away from the Sharks. You would love our Barrier Reef that runs along Queensland or Exmouth in Western Australia.

Thanks for showing how you fish the bridges. You make it look so easy haha… I made a trip to the keys recently and was there sun up to sun down fishing with live shrimp and my biggest fish was like 6 inches
Same here I was down there for the first time during the Christmas and New Year day break and only caught a small yellow jack and a lizard fish. We had live and frozen shrimp and some sardines. I think the brutal cold front that hit the country during that time period jacked everything up. every body was struggling
Just had my first experience fishing in Florida a few weeks ago during the cold snap that hit Florida. Unfortunately didn't get to do any pier fishing but caught a few redfish and plenty of sheepshead inshore near St. Augustine. Definitely would do again but might drive there to bring my gear down and try out the pier fishing.
You got some great action at least! I fish the other bridge alot more since the highway is higher and doesn't interfere when I switch sides. I was at the other bridge a month ago and thankfully no sharks. Got some keepers and even snagged a lobster 🤣 Have you tried night fishing on those bridges? You should and if you're lucky you can see the milky way as you snag some winners like we did!

Im just wondering the whole time, what if you fall into the water? Is it possible to survive that height? Are there possibilities to get back on land or atleast up on one of the pillars? And what about the sharks, would they pose a threat to a human in there?
Old comment but its really not that high 20-30 ft tops. You would definitely survive the initial fall if you went clean into the water. The problem is the current is usually ripping through here very fast and the pilings are high off the water, not to mention these massive bull sharks that are attracted to a large splash hitting the water. You would probably only be able to climb on one of those pilings if you were an excellent swimmer and athlete!
Fished near there from kayaks on an incoming tide a few years ago. Won’t be doing that ever again. And folks believe that sharks are endangered, the corals are all bleached and oceans are boiling. A good trip to the keys will prove otherwise.
