Dr where does the digestive juices come from after a sleeve since they cut off the part of the Fundus. Will it cause problems long term? I’m considering getting a sleeve
Great question! Gastric secretions such as acid are decreased since 80% of the stomach is removed. Ghrelin production is also reduced, and since Ghrelin is a hormone that increases hunger, a patient's hunger level decreases after surgery, this is one of the significant mechanisms by which the sleeve achieves its weight loss effect. Intrinsic factor is also decreased, and is the reason why patients need to have B12 supplementation after surgery. If patients take their vitamin supplementation, which is required lifelong, there is not expected to be any negative long-term consequence. This is a simplification of very complex system, there are some textbooks and articles explaining this in more depth.
@@DanisGrace I did it in march 2023 and I weighed 161 kg at my highest weight now I’m 115 kg and still losing weight and don’t have loose skin because I’m still full just not as big anymore. I feel beautiful and younger and people notice me again I’m no longer invisible 💃🏽 yeah
Yes, regarding PCOS Bariatric surgery can improve hormonal and menstrual issues related to PCOS and promotes successful pregnancy. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7538203/#:~:text=In%20all%20of%20the%20studies,resolution%20of%20metabolic%20syndrome%20occurs.
The problem with this and why I don't do it? Because of age and also because losing weight that fast just makes your skin hang even more. That would depress me more than anything.
Is there a way to prevent loose skin before surgery?
