MEDICAL ANIMATION TRANSCRIPT: If you suffer from severe obesity and have been unable to lose weight, your doctor may recommend robotic bariatric surgery. Your digestive system or gastrointestinal tract includes your mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine. Your pancreas, liver, and gallbladder squirt digestive juices into your small intestine to help you break down the food you eat. Your doctor may recommend bariatric surgery if you are unable to lose weight and keep it off through diet and exercise alone, have a body mass index or BMI above 40, have a BMI above 35 and you have a life threatening condition such as heart disease or diabetes, or weigh more than 100 pounds over your ideal body weight or IBW. Bariatric surgery helps you lose weight by decreasing the size of your stomach so that it holds less food and makes you feel full more quickly. Before your procedure, an intravenous line or IV will be started. You may be given antibiotics through the IV to decrease your chance of infection. You'll be given general anesthesia. A breathing tube will be inserted through your mouth and down your throat to help you breathe during the operation. Your surgeon will make a small incision near your belly button and insert a plastic tube called a port. Carbon dioxide gas will be pumped into your abdomen through this port. The gas will inflate your abdomen, giving your surgeon more room to see and move the surgical tools. After your abdomen is inflated, a high definition camera will be inserted into this port. Your surgeon will make additional port incisions for robotic instruments, as well as for instruments used by patient side assistance. An assistant will insert all of the robotic tools through these ports. Unlike standard laparoscopic instruments, these tools can rotate 360 degrees and have more flexibility than the human wrist. Seated at a special console, your surgeon will operate the robotic arms and the camera with joystick-like controls and foot pedals. A computer will translate the exact movements of your surgeon's fingers into precise movements of the surgical tools. At the same time, a high definition vision system will provide a magnified, three dimensional stereoscopic view of the surgical area. One common robotic bariatric surgical procedure is a gastric sleeve procedure. In this procedure, most of your stomach will be removed, leaving a smaller sleeve-like tube about the size of a banana. To create the gastric sleeve, your surgeon will cut and staple your stomach at the same time. The part of your stomach separated from the gastric sleeve will be removed through one of the incisions. The remaining gastric sleeve does not change where food enters and leaves your stomach. At the end of your procedure, the incisions will be closed with stitches, staples, surgical glue, or closure tape dressings. The incisions will be covered with sterile dressings. After your procedure, your breathing tube will be removed, and you will be taken to the recovery area for monitoring. You'll be given pain medication as needed. You may continue to receive antibiotics through your IV. Most patients are released from the hospital one to two days after the procedure.

One of my favorite channels!
Even though I've been trying to lose weight for years, I realized that I couldn't do it without surgery. I live in the USA and unfortunately my financial situation is not good enough to receive treatment here. That's why I decided to get treatment in a different country. It was impossible for me to pay 12.000€ here. Instead I found a clinic in Turkey. Slimmer and fitter. I got a very successful result. The cost of treatment is only 2500€. At this price they picked me up from the airport and made me stay at the hotel. I am very satisfied with the result and would recommend it to you as well.
Can you share the contact info please

If you have this, i hope you have the best life ever after.
Naic sir 🙏🙌👏
Just wondering 😁😁:
Contradictory, the procedure may lead to malnutrition in future due to decrease surface storage and absorption of nutrients
Absorption and storage doesn't happen in the stomach...
Gastric sleeve does get bigger over time to a healthy but still small size to the point where even vitamins arent needed as frequently
A stomach with the size of a single banana can take one banana worth of food (duh). One banana worth of food 3 times a day will not lead to malnutrition.
I was wondering this. Cant fit many calories in that if you're on a wholefoods diet. But you can on junkfood, but then you miss proper nutrition.
Nutrients are absorbed in the intestines and not stomach. Go read a book or watch videos before blabbing idiocies.
Long data on this knowledge, so this us a surgery video that can help remove any excess weight?
DaVincii Si Surgical Robot! A fantastic thing!
Having this done in a couple of days. Don't know watching this the wisest idea I've ever had 🤢
how was your procedure?
@@ndcupcake surprisingly not too bad. The lifestyle change and adjustment to new style of eating/reintroducing food is more disruptive than the procedure itself. One night in hospital, no need for pain meds when I left, 3-4 days later I felt ok. Best decision I've ever made for my health and wellbeing.

How would the cutting part of the stomach removed?
4:06
I eat it
caseoh needs this.
So how do they know how much to remove?
Wow I need that.
How much charges they take for this surgery and also is it available in India?
what about the stomach acid during cutting? don't it harm other organs?
I believe stomach acid only enters the stomach when food enters. You would not eat at all prior to the surgery.
Which is exactly why the doctor tells you not to eat. Near the surgery
Besides it is said in the video that the opening closes as it's being cut? So no leakage
Great
How long it will take to cure?
Love it
I just got this done on myself
It’s the same kind of breathing tube the use when the do a kidney surgery????
Is this reversible after weight loss years after?
nope. i didn't find that out until after I did it. :(
@@Daisynottheflower
Your surgeon should've have told you in the beginning that the sleeve cannot be reversed but the bypass can!
I also find it very hard to believe that your surgeon didn't tell you this!
@@cyncyn3775 they were clear obviously. there is so much you have to learn! they make us take a class and everything! they should make sure we understand it better
Woah.. did he say stomach will be cut and stapled??
Damn that's hard to digest..
I thought he might go with fat removal..
Fat removal is fine but is a world of complications and it also doesn’t solve the source of the issue, smaller stomach no more food means no more fat simple as
So basically, they turn your stomach into a small intestine? Interesting..
Not even close. The difference between the small intestine and stomach is huge in functionality it's not only about the size. The stomach is reduced in size so people can't stuff themselves anymore.
Yup some doctors only remove 60% or 70% of the stomach, but if you didn’t forger to take your vitamins for the 6 months after sleeve surgery you’ll be fine, we also eat very small meals from six to eight times a day, it can include nuts, fruits, vegetables as well, but some of us can eat all kinds of Carbohydrates such as rice and bread, and others can’t do that.
I did the surgery and happy with the results ❤️!!
@@duhahammad8972 was it painful? I mean complications? Just curious coz I might consider it in future
@@hildaemelda882 honestly just got back from my surgery and the first two days aren’t fun but it’s not horrible. The gas pain is more of an issue than anything else. After, if no complications, pain is minimal

with small stomach less food intake but doesn't that mean one may get hungry more frequently than before surgery? how it can be controlled? how eating less but more frequently helps in reducing weight?
Superb technology
I was going to get bariatric surgery in 2010 but I backed up 3 times and was already in the process of getting my surgery done I wasn’t obese that’s why I backed up on my surgery day i was really young and I was this close to getting into the process I did the process of bariatric surgery like 3 times I even did the classes, the testing and etc, but till this day my dr still offers me bariatric surgery and weight loss injections ‘ I did my research about bariatric surgery, gastric sleeve and gastric bypass for many years now 😌
Did you ever do it or no?
If I’m correct, I’ve heard you can’t have carbonated beverages after procedures like this, but I could be wrong. Would suck if it was the case.
if you have a problem with food causing you to be massively overweight, it might be better to give up soda anyway
soda is terrible for you
Carbonation stretches out the stomach and ruins the surgery.
Thats the only thing that Im suffering right now. Give up Coke zero!!!Im planning to do the gastric sleeve!!
Yeah you can’t to begin with. Maybe many months down the line you will be able to have a can every now and again

And ignorant people have the audacity to say that this is the easy way out
What happens to all the CO2 used to inflate the abdomen? I assume it’s sucked back out and put into a reservoir somewhere, but I need to know.
I would guess it goes into a waste gas cylinder that is then taken to an external storage cage and later in the week/month/quarter picked up with a bunch of other waste gas cylinders for downcycling into non-medical-grade CO2.
@@philhobrla8489 Makes sense to me.
We just open one of the ports and deflate the abdomen like a balloon. There's no sucking it out.
@@sharonrichy777 And just release all that CO2 into the air?
