As usual, I am learning a lot from you. Thank you for explaining things very well.
You were great 😊 We were never taught categorical regression in school but while doing a research project I didn't know how to include their impact. Thank you so much ♾️🔥
Yet another super useful video explained so simply! Thanks! Sir, can you also please explain 3 x 2 way MANCOVA in one of your videos, if possible?
Thanks for this very good video - you explain things so well and clearly!
Can I ask if I have pre and post scores on a depression questionnaire as 2 seperate variables, should I put both of these in the DV part or a new variable which is called 'Change in depression score' in the DV box when doing regression analysis? Thanks 😊
Thanks. I am glad you liked it.
You can have only one DV. So if you somehow create a change score, you are losing on the time dimension of your variable.
A good idea could be regression analysis for pre and post scores and see if the significance changes for pre and post situation.
Dear Dr. Fawad, thanks for the video! I was wondering, can I use one way ANOVA to check whether gender and country (categorical predictor/dummy variables) have an influence on customer loyalty (dependent variable)? Thank you in advance for your response!
Thanks for watching. Yes you can do it, any differences would suggest that there is an impact.
Sir,, after watching this video ,i learned how to use dummy variables in SPSS,Thank you.I want to ask you that which version of SPSS You used in this video.
Thank you so much for this explanation, Fawad! I was wondering if you could also confirm that females have lower customer loyalty than males (so just turn the hypothesis around) from your results? Or would you have to recode the dummy variables in this case to get a negative sign?
Hi. Thanks for watching. You can simply change the proposed hypothesis. No need to recode.
Hi, thanks for the video
I have a question. I have independent variable with 4 categories, i coded 3 dummy variables and a reference with 0 value only. I have use PROCESS to gain indirect effects for each category relative to the reference category, but i also want to get the indirect effect of the reference. can i do this test?
There has to be a reference category, if you want to get indirect effect of the references category then in another mediation model, another category will be reference.
Sir, please tell how to interpret and write these results in APA format
hi thanks for the vid i wanna ask why you used linear regression when the variables are both categorical? isnt supposed we use logistic?
Sir in my SPSS version 21 there is no option of create dummy variables, so please tell me which version you are using??
I am using 26, You will need to download Python Essentials for SPSS 21, then you will have that option
What is the difference between this method and a sample t-test? Both say if there is a statistical difference between two groups but when do I use which method? Thank you very much.
T-Test does not provide the R-Square and does not cater for more than two categories.
Do we have to analyse each categorical variable separately with the independent variable ? Or can we run the regression analysis for more than two categorical variables on the independent variable?
Much appreciated the way you guide! I have a question related to this tutorial. We suppose that you have 4 or 5 constructs, and you only check the impact of gender and country on endogenous (e.g., customer loyalty) in SPSS, as you did show here. For CFA model in AMOS, do we have to include gender and loyalty in CFA model or not? Please answer
Pleasure. I am glad you liked it. No need to include controls when running CFA, include controls when assessing the structural model.
dear sir, your videos are great! i liked them. i have a question. i am comparing this research question:
Outcome: Binary (whether a patient died or not)
Independent Variable has 3 categories, instead of 2: Whether they have grade 1, 2 or 3 (ordinal fashion) severity of mucositis.
which test should i use??
Use Binary Logistic Regression. Please watch

thank you so much for your explanation! if we want to report the B value, how to calculate it with those dummy variables? is there an equation for it?
Thanks. I am glad you liked it. Beta value ia already in the coefficients table. The first column, please
@@researchwithfawad oh wait, I want to clarify. so if we want to report the B value of the categorical IVs in our writing, we have to put the B value for each dummy variables?? Or there's a way to know the B value for each IV as a whole?
Beta for Dummy is interpreted differently as shown in the video, it is a mean to compare with reference category. You can report Beta for all categories except for reference to which the other categories are compared.
@@researchwithfawad ah i see.. now i totally understand :)) i do have another question. So i want to make a final model using multiple regression. Before that, i want to analyze the contribution of each IV to DV using bivariate regression. Then the IVs that statistically significant will be put in the multiple regression model. So if i use dummy variables, then there's a category that is not significant to a reference while others are significant, how to decide whether to put or not put that IV in the multiple regression model?
Why do you want to delete insignificant factors and only have significant factors. Why not have all of them and discuss the reasons for insignificant results.
How to see how many times higher/lower (Odds ratio) the values are compared to each other like in logistic regression [Exp(B) instead of B]?
@@researchwithfawad I meant can we see OR for linear regression as well or is it only incase of logistic?
Greetings sir
In case of dummy variables are used as control variable if they come out to be significant what does it mean?
Yes sir I saw my doubt was if control variables comes out to be significant we will report that will that have any effect on our model like its validity?
Can we use many categorical variables each having many levels/dummy variables in a multiple regression? For eg : Age, income, religion each having 4 dummy variables ? Plz Reply
sir, should i do install Python to create dummy variable on SPSS?
If we are using PROCESS, do we still need to generate dummy variables?
No. Process will do it for you, you willnjave to add the details by clicking multi categorical button. Do it only for variables with 3 or more categories
That means for gender we don't need to create dummy variables coz it has 2 categories only what if gender is used as moderator in a study then should we also need not to create dummy variables for gender what will we put then in refrence like u said if age has 3 categories one is used as refrence sir kindly clear my confusion
Create dummy variables only if the categorical variable has 3 or more categories. Even if used as moderator, dummy is not created if it has two categories.
Thank you so much, Fawad. Each time when I was stuck in the analysis, I just searched your videos. All your videos were super easy to understand and straight to the point. Thank you!!
Pleasure. I am glad you liked the videos and found them helpful. Do share in your research circle.
