Filipino friendliness with the westerners has to do with their white-skin preference and being a former colony of the US. In the long past kids myself included thought all white people are Americans and we'd say "Hi Joe!" to them, Joe I later learned was how they were called during WW II. Also, McArthur liberated us from the Japanese. One more, Americans though not all, generally wouldn't smirk at gross-looking foreign foods like some of ours. Filipinos on the other hand, wouldn't ever try bagong--had it not been their own food. Cheers for for being adventurous.
You need to go to Zamboanga where Chavacano is spoken. Chavacano is a Spanish based Creole language. Your Spanish is good enough that you’ll be able to speak to native Chavacano speakers. Zamboanga should also make some great UA-cam episodes. Enjoy the Philippines!

You don't have to convince me. I've been to the Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia. I love my Singaporean friends. They are so polite. But you just can't beat the friendliness of the people of the Philippines. I've worked with Filipinos here in the US for almost 40 years and it's more than them being just friendly. I seem to identify with them so closely. I'm glad you found your life there in the PI.

You’re right about the US being a stressful country. Everyone here is in a hurry. Some are very demanding and want things right away. Your travels gives me the escape I need! Your videos always makes me smile. 😊
Hi, I really love your videos and it's nice you appreciate Filipino values. Actually, as you experience Philippines, you'll see that people are always happy even they dont have so much. They will offer you what they have no matter how little they have. They value family and their loveones so much, they appreciate every single thing. That's the reason we Filipinos are very resilient with problems, tragedy, struggles in life, typhoon, any obstacle, name it. It is because, for us, we're not after with material things. Yes, we love to have beautiful life, nice to have enuf money, but again those are just a "bonus" to have. For us, we are rich because of our Faith with God and rich because we have our family, our friends, our loveones. Those things are our treasures which cant be wiped out by any typhoon or floods. We find wealth through the spirit that we have innate, the good vibes, the happines from within, the gratefulness in everything be it good or bad situation. We have problems but for us it's okay coz we can get thru all of that because we believe we are not alone, that we have God and we have each other[friends, family] to rely on. Try to search net and you'll see filipinos smiling, playing basketball in midst of typhoon, floods, and etc. As they say, filipino spirit is waterproof. As I lived in Mexico for 12 years, so of course the Spanish language it's just so easy to be spoken and understood in the Ph especially if your native English too.
I plan to live in the Philippines half the year with my gf once I retire in 4 yes. I'm a military bratt & and veteran, so I've been around Filipinos most of my life. They are happy people, and I look forward to visiting the Philippines next year. Having said that, I love my country and have never felt unsafe. Maybe that is because I live in South Texas and have a concealed permit. I support and defend the Constitution/Bill of Rights. I have been to 48/50 states and hands down the places run by blue politicians are the most unsafe. I avoid them like the plague. Anyway, I love the channel and your videos. Keep up the great work
the best thing to travel the beautiful undiscovered beaches(not the touristy ones) in the Philippines is to have your on boat jonathan..i hope someday youll have your own.. 😊👀🤞🏻❤️
It's never been easy to live in other country with no idea about its culture, the people themselves and even the language they speak. But, your stay in the Philippines kinda made an opposite perception. Thank you brother for choosing the Philippines as your 2nd home. And thank you for liking the people.

Glad to see you found the PI as a good home for you. I will try Rosetta one day. I'll give you local tip I could be wrong as a Cali born Flip, if you want to call a friend...American= we say " hey what's up?".... Filipino=, make sound "SSSST, hooey!"
It’s very peculiar because if you ask me why Filipinos are warm and friendly, I always say it’s because we grew up in such dire conditions that our tolerance for suffering is dialled all the way up which makes us appreciate the smallest things in life like friends, families, and building connections. But the thing is, there are so many other countries in the world that are the same as us and some even in worse situations but there’s still something different that sets the Filipinos apart. It really is very strange but also very fortunate.
Please have a collab with Drew Binsky to document on how wonderful our country is, so that other people from other countries might consider to visit Philippines one day. Drew Binsky loves the Philippines too, infact He rated Philippines as his most favorite country in the World ❤

You somehow validated that the Philippines is the next place to live, any foreigner that has been here like you can attest to that and as a local myself, we cannot be prouder, we are the most adaptable people on earth and as hosts, we are the best...thank you.
I'm so proud of you, Jonathan. You're even making an effort to learn our language. Enjoy learning and continue to have fun in the Philippines!
I’m trying! Tagalog is a bit more difficult than Bisaya though 😂.. the verbs are super long! Haha
the respect and hospitality of the people are awesome
yeah.. driven by religion to be good and better.
living here in the philippines is the best choice of your life :)
people here is just happy even life are not what u wanted to be.
I truly loved watching this video, and I really appreciate your brining us your travels. You captured the heart of the Filipino people, their friendly, open and honest ways. You have a very approachable face and mannerisms, which I would guess are magnified by your interactions with the incredibly happy people you filmed. You certainly don't get that in the States. It makes me want to get there tomorrow!
🙏🏼for sharing your daily interactions with the locals.
It’s the best part of the videos!
Thanks for the tips bro..I've been trying to decide where to go. There's alot of good everywhere..but I think I would be more comfortable in SEA than..maybe South America. I think the weather and people are the best, not to mention the beauty. Have a gr8 day bro 👍✌😎
Try all SE Asian countries
Jonathan, so happy to see you in Palawan❤ thank you promoting the kindness of the Filipino people , I now live in the US but looking forward to come home , the incredible people, culture, food and our famous hospitality is something we are proud of . woooow you got me by surprise good Spanish and the fact that you haven’t forgotten means you very smart guy!!
Hopefully I don’t forget! I put on a lot of work learning that 😂
As I always say, the people is the best import of my country. I am not saying this because I am a Filipino but really the people is what makes the Philippines truly a wonderful place to live. As you say Philippines is not perfect and no country is but what I can truly guarantee is that when you talk to Filipinos they will try to feel you at home.
completely agree!

Philippines is filled with sobra mabait people. Your experience at the beach has been my experience all of the time. Pretty much, everywhere!!! I love it there. I'm looking forward to returning in May, 2023 for 3 months with my fiance Flor from "explore with Flor" (that's her channel). And we will be buying a place in the Philippines in a few yrs (maybe 2). We are looking at Tablas, Romblon or Southern Cebu. But we love every island there. Her vlogs show our travels throughout the islands. And I agree, I feel safe everywhere I go in the Philippines.

As I lived in Mexico for 12 years, so of course the Spanish language it's just so easy to be spoken and understood in the Ph especially if your native English too.
I love gore Filipinos automatically welcome you with open arms baha. From a Filipino, hope you enjoy Philippines 🙏🇵🇭
Good luck and keep safe and happy in Philippines.
The picture of you in Spain reminded me of my Honeymoon. I climbed down to take that picture infront of that bridge in Ronda too.
Dude your videos are awesome ❗️
Making it a lot easier for me to book my trip I’ve been waiting to do
So laid back and enjoyable
Hi jonathan when are you coming back here in Panglao. 😎Enjoy the Philippines our beloved country.
I suggest you visit sambuanga province it a broken Spanish province you'll be amazed
thank you
looks like you found a really nice place there.
Keep up the great work
Communicating with the locals is fun and makes your trip more interesting. Happy with your choice, Jonathan 😀👍
happy people lots of smiles, life is too short, live life to the fullest and the Philippines has it all. enjoy Jonathan
SALAMAT ❤️
Filipino love people and chatting..
Gobless you, Bro. Amping.👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👊👏👏👏👏👏✌
Amping!!
Your real adventurer and down to earth!😅👍🇵🇭🇧🇭
There are also a drawbacks to living in the PI, particularly when it comes to availability of modern conveniences we tend to take for granted.
Enjoy mate. I really miss my home. That's the thing i really miss in the Philippines.
the best thing to travel the beautiful undiscovered beaches(not the touristy ones) in the Philippines is to have your on boat jonathan..i hope someday youll have your own.. 😊👀🤞🏻❤️
Kabayan welcome ka always
You are kindof doing exactly what I plan to do during my retirement that I just began...
It's never been easy to live in other country with no idea about its culture, the people themselves and even the language they speak. But, your stay in the Philippines kinda made an opposite perception.
Thank you brother for choosing the Philippines as your 2nd home.
And thank you for liking the people.
definitely .. the language barrier is a huge factor. Thank you for watching! And it's not difficult to like the people 😂

Here in Philippines are so many words in Tagalog,Bisaya and Cebuano are Spanish , especially in Zamboanga City , Philippines. God bless us.
I would like to learn French. Will try the Rosetta Stone sometime.
Glad to see you found the PI as a good home for you. I will try Rosetta one day.
I'll give you local tip I could be wrong as a Cali born Flip, if you want to call a friend...American= we say " hey what's up?".... Filipino=, make sound "SSSST, hooey!"
Philippines is so beautiful
we also have places in the philippines which speaks spanish we called them "chavacanos" and it is their first dialect/language.
Drew Binsky loves the Philippines too, infact He rated Philippines as his most favorite country in the World ❤
Ayayyyy kalami sa Saging nga dunay ginamos 😂😅😂😅my paborito kaayo kalami.jud ana 👍👍👍💫💥❤❤🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Great video from someone who did the opposite - I lived and grew up there but, moved to the US about 18 years ago. Anecdotally, there seems to be a lot more happier people there. Life is less complicated because many are satisfied with the simple things in life. Enjoy your stay and thanks making a cool video about the Philippines!
Hey Jonathan! Glad you're enjoying my home country Philippines and that you feel safe. I live in WA State and being a minority sometimes feels scary, but PH is forever my home. Enjoy!
You might try to see the vlog of kulas, becoming a filipino, you might learn more about us filipino, and the island, he is settled here.
Generally speaking, Filipinos are very happy people. They have been through hardships and poverty, and yet they smile at life.
Tbh, one of the reasons why they're very hospitable is because you're a foreigner! And a good-looking guy too! 😂💯🇵🇭🇺🇸
Thank you dude for choosing the Philippines as your home...God bless!
You know a person loves the Philippines when he even comfortably gives you the accurate number of islands in the Philippines. 7641
Try to visit northern Cebu like bantayan island malapascua Island virgin Island camotis Island... And many more
Been following your vlogs for a bit. I'll be visiting Cebu with my gf in April/May. If you're around, drinks on me! lol
haha thank you! I have no idea which island I'll be filming on in April/May, unfortunately
Wow.. Thank You For Choosing And loving My Motherland.. True The Real gems Of Philippine Tourism Are The People😍
