Being a 75 yo veteran myself, I had to breath deep to avoid a flood of tears. Eternal Thanks to the efforts and memories of a six year old. We are all honored.
If someone made a movie about Parachute Pete I'd watch that. Hard to believe he was able to survive two crashes in a few week period. Amazing work SNAFU DOCS!
I will always be touched and amazed at how many people in Europe to this day, young and old, still have so much respect and appreciation of the USA and the other allied countries that helped to liberate them. Sadly, it is almost forgotten now in America. We all know we are so much more than what we exhibit here today in America but I fear we must suffer yet again before we re-discover that...God forbid, and I pray America finds it's way back to where it belongs. Additionally, to the Snafu Docs,..you brought another beautiful story that otherwise would have been lost to time..God bless your work!
If it helps, as an American I for one have not forgotten. It is truly inspiring to learn how many Europeans still honor their liberators. The story of Vince Speranza is another that highlights the respect the Belgians have for those guys.
B24 excelled in all it was asked to do. I understand it was a demanding aircraft to fly However it was most Beautiful and Lethal. Sunk more U boats than any other aircraft instrumental in victory in the Pacific all other theaters as well.
Victor , As a U.S.Army Veteran who spent 3 years in West Germany during the early 80s, and when able to travel I went to many of these places and have been near here 84 ,but didn't know about this B-24 ...I want to say THANK YOU VICTOR for your Dedication to Remember these men and tell their stories. I am truly touched by your compassion to do this ,even buying the land to protect the crash site ... A long held Salute to you VICTOR and to all who work hard to make this happen...God Bless You All ...
Very nice human and emouvant story. Respect to Victor and the persons who have make more rich the History and the detailed memory of this courageous men who have permit our freedom.
These folks in Belgium have more pride in American than most Americans do today. We've had it easy for so long that nobody knows or cares about the sacrifice that men like these crew members paid for with their lives. Rest in peace to these guys and all of our military members who have sacrificed their lives.
My family know the sacrifice.. My Grandfather was deployed: North Africa and Sicily. His unit was re-deployed, he mainly because he spoke fluent German. Entered European theater: D Day +3.... 3rd Army 777th tank destroy... Patton volunteered them to turn and in three days entered the Ardennes
About half of the US population wants to make me puke. I'm sure they think the same of me. So be it. They hate the country they were born or immigrated into
As an American I study. And research WW2 stuff everyday of the week. My Moms 4 older Brothers were all in the war , all were in heavy duty action and luckily all 4 made it home. My Moms next door neighbors both sons were K.I.A. I’m 55 and am so interested in everything to do with the War. I wouldn’t say Americans have forgotten it’s mostly the younger kids…… sadly.
One plane out of hundreds. 9 men out of thousands. Touched so many lives from that fateful day until today. Amazing, touching and thought provoking. RIP as honored heroes.
My dad flew in B-24's...this shows me a minute of his life in those planes. He said, " I loved the B-24 it always brought us home". My condolences to the families of 'Kingsize' and also to the man who saw the crash and brought all of this together. Heroes is a small word for what these young men endured and accomplished.
Extraordinary production! Victor is an amazing being to purchase the land, to want to honor these brave men. For all of you that helped him see this through. Humbling. Thank you all.
What a wonderful gentleman he is, to share his story, his love and gratitude for those brave airmen. To buy the land, to trim the branches to be able to always have a view of his beloved site is beautiful. Congratulations to all the hard work and dedication of the team, relatives, US forces and local helpers. Wonderful work. RIP to all lost from the "King Size". Never forgotten.
I was especially moved because my late dad was in the war (but stateside with the Navy). Dad would have been 100 this year, so these men were his peers. Thank you for finding and preserving history.
My Father also served stateside as a Navigator on B-24s, training in Texas, Arizona, California.....and then South Carolina. His crew's transfer to Charleston was ominous, as they figured they had a week, maybe two before they would pick up a new B-24 and fly to Europe. But the war ended before that could happen.
Joey, Myra and Bob, fantastic production! So pleased with how this came out! Special thanks to Victor of course! So great to be part of this piece of history. Wish my father, Peter F. Ferdinand were alive to see it. He would certainly be proud of the work you have all done.
Hello Peter a wonderful story as a englishman i want to say how grateful we are to our allies in ww2 to come over here and fight when really you had a war to fight against japan after pearl harbor.we owe so much to so many. In a church in a village called carlton rode there a memorial plague to the mid air crash that your father survived in november 1944.
There isnt enough words to express my respect and gratitude for the Crew of King Size .Victor is remarkable. Thank you for this film as well as the others on the channel
Exceptionally well done!! Thank you to all involved especially Victor who never gave up his quest. Thank you so much from this son of a WW2 Battle of the Bulge survivor.
What a fantastic programme. For the Ferdinand family to visit the site, help excavate remains & touch something that their father last touched 70+ years before must have been an amazing experience & all thanks to the devotion of Victor who remembered the sacrifice & cherished the memory of the crew since he was a child. For Peter Ferdinand to have survived the death of two aircrews & returned home to raise a family it is hard to imagine what effect the war had on him & not suffered. He certainly had "The Right Stuff".
Best documentary/film, best “real people doing real people shit that matters in life”, just a PLEASURE to watch this. Thank you for showing respect enough to create this, thank you to everyone from researchers, metal “detectorist💪🏻💪🏻👊🏻☝🏻”, to the perseverance to finding out “what just happened” Victor Yansenne. I would have never known about their story of these American soldiers if it wasn’t for all involved. Thank you I’m sharing to all I know.
I can't thank you enough for helping this man, Victor, with HIS mission, which lasted his entire life. He never forgot, and I honor him for that. In my eyes, he is also a hero, for never losing focus on his gratitude for being liberated and wanting to bring proper honor and closure for these men, and their families. I feel true sadness that 7 of them didn't live long enough to even leave behind children of their own. This was such a tiny part of a war that encompassed the entire world, consuming millions upon millions of people, and yet somehow reflected every aspect of the war itself. This was one of the best documentaries on WWII I have ever seen, and should be required viewing in every high school in the U.S., to remind young people that kids not much older than themselves saved the world, and kept so many other nations' freedoms and survival intact (including our own) - many with the ultimate self-sacrifice. Words are such stupid things. Just... thank you.
What a great story. All of these disparate dedicated people putting this puzzle together. It’s so nice to see people like Victor who remember and are grateful for the sacrifices of allied soldiers and airmen that helped to destroy the Nazi scourge. Driving around in his Willys Jeep and WW2 American uniform was special. Thanks for this episode. My father was responsible for the repair and maintenance of the electronics including the latest radar on B24’s. He was stationed near Foggia, Italy in 44-45.
This is a very well made documentary. In the early 70s, I moved to Norwich and within a year started work for Lotus Cars which was based at the Hethel airfield. I worked on the upholstery section which was based in some outbuildings at Ketteringham Hall a mile away. The Hall was also the 2nd Air Division HQ from Dec 1943 - June 1945. Whilst there, I heard an account of some workers doing some late evening overtime. One of them turned around only to see a person dressed in military/aviation uniform/clothing. He called out to acknowledge the person but the 'person' then vanished from view. He was so shocked by this that he refused to do any further overtime and maybe moved up to the main factory.
Many have reported seeing military personnel from WW2 who can't be explained. Many Civil War sites, especially Gettysburg, have reports of seeing groups of men moving from one position to another. I know what a preacher would say. It's not possible. How do we really know though? Maybe some are there stuck like in a historical loop. Playing the same thing time and again. Maybe for some, even though the time in the air was hell itself. Yet, while on the ground was the best they ever had: hot meals, good friends and beautiful girls. I have heard reports where people actually thought someone was a recreator or tour guide. I know when visiting some of the concentration camps you could feel their presence. It would be absolutely beautiful weather with the sun shining and warm with just a slight breeze. Yet, you entered the gate marked ARBEIT MACHT FREI (Work sets you free) and the atmosphere totally changed. It would become overcast, chilly and no wind at all. You felt the oppression and the sadness. Some places you could feel the hatred and evil. Regardless of which camp, you had the same experience. No one would say anything about this experience for a few days. Finally someone would start by saying "I know this sounds crazy but". Without saying anything at the time, everyone had the same emotions. May GOD bless those who willingly fought, and unfortunately sacrificed, for the freedoms given to us from GOD. No government is to interfere with them. They are only to ensure their protection. NEVER believe anyone who says your freedoms come from the government.
Feel compelled to comment. Just watched this video , and I was so moved by your research, passion and dedication to telll Vic's story. Not to mention honouring those poor chaps that crahsed. Chuffed that this is the last UA-cam video of 2021 for me. Love you channel & thank you for taking the time to document these events of 1944.
The best video I've watched so far this year. God bless all these folks, and especially Victor for his perseverance. We can't forget all of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice. The survivor's reluctance to re-hash those times is common. My late dad was a B-24 instructor in WWII, and he would become obviously distressed about his wartime experiences, especially the memories of losing his younger brother at Normandy. Thanks for your work producing this excellent video.
I absolutely love Victor... Parachute Pete, all of them. How amazing.... Sometimes, something touches my soul...and words are not enough. This is one of those times. I just love them. Thank you❤️
Outstanding work Joey, and congrats to the whole team for such an amazing story! I’m honored to have visited the site and to hear Bob tell the story first hand in Feb. 2020.
An amazing story. A dream come true for Victor. So dedicated and appreciative of the service members. And a witness tree. That's cool to me anyway. Great team work to make this happen. Thank you all.
Wow! This is so very interesting. I think of all the dedication and determination he put into finding who the crew was in this plane crash. Such a kind thing to do. Thanks for documenting this for us.
It's the most significant account of dedication and sacrifice, I am in awe of both the air crew and those that didn't let the story die, those bomber crews were brave men,the likes of which we will never see again, and I owe them everything.
Joey, I am so impressed with your efforts and commitment to remember the heroes of WWII. This story is so moving. It is a blessing to know of so many in Europe, including yourself, and in the United States who are committed to never forgetting. A special thanks to Bob, Myra and especially Victor.
The story of the plane going down is harrowing. Being attacked by fighters, catching fire, regaining control, being attacked again, rapidly losing altitude while on fire, trying to bale out the bomb bay doors which won’t open, baling out the nose wheel, being shot at while parachuting down, watching your plane explode and comrades die, watching the Germans on the ground as you descend behind enemy lines.. All on Christmas Day.. These men went through hell. Edit: Ps, everyone that worked on identifying this plane, every single one of you are amazing, and all of you that made this documentary, thank you.. But Victor is a real special person, Victor deserves the most plaudits here because for 70 years he kept his promise to identify and honour these men. And he did it, he never gave up. ❤️
Not to mention Sgt. Liscomb, who landed behind enemy lines, and was captured by the Germans. Tragic, to have survived against all odds, only to be captured, and then killed by another bombing crew in an American bombing run. War is so sick - so twisted - and so filled with irony. All respect to this young man and his comrades.
What a superb production! Everything about it is first-rate. To hear Victor's story and the determination to see it through is extraordinary. You've earned a new subscriber.
I spent a month in Scilly digging a P38 looking for the Pilot, such hard work.. I metal detect in UK live in US, My grandfather was a flight engineer on B-24’s WW2. I love your perseverance and soul for the history! If I can ever help with any research, digs I’m here! Volunteer in a second for your work!
Just waw.The perseverance of this peoples is amazing.Victors dream came reality.I will soon visit the memory and show respect for the crew and all soldiers who gave their young live for the liberation of Europe.
Not more than me! I love 🇺🇸 my country forever. I am Ukrainian descent. Seeing Ukraine being destroyed is heartbreaking as my grandparents loved America.
It's amazing after so many years to bring this to a point of remembering these Heroes... I recently purchased two original photos of "King Size" the B29 and Crew... I figured after purchasing them that one day I may get lucky in researching this aircraft... This gives me hope and understanding how difficult it'll be to research this aircraft and crew
Thank you Joey for making this and sharing. Ofcourse also thanks to all the credited expecially Victor for carrying this duty through life to identify and honor the men he saw die to liberate his country. Also thankyou for all the great content on this channel, really bringing history to life. Bless you all!
Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU SNAFU DOCS for all that you do to bring history to life. I'm amazed at the dedication of all involved and the great show of gratitude by the people that were liberated during this horrific time in history. I only wish that more of us Americans were as well versed on the historic events of WWII. We're losing SO many WWII veterans each day and losing out on the opportunity to hear their stories. But, you all are doing such an amazing job of capturing those voices and sharing them with us. Again, Thank you! It is inspiring to hear from the survivors that you find, both civilian and military. This was my favorite documentary that you have done so far.
I'm so humbled to see the lengths and struggles the team endured to preserve the memories that went down with the King Size. Victor is an incredible person for his commitment to the honour of those Men, and I applaud the dilligent work of everyone else involved in protecting this history. We are living in a world We inherited from brave and selfless servicemen, and Our obligation is to keep Their stories alive. We remember and honour You all, and thank You so very dearly for Your sacrifice. If not for Them, We would be speaking German in a world We don't recognise. God bless You all for keeping the past alive. Never stop telling the stories. Thanks 🍻
Thanks SNAFUDOCS for going to the extent you did to honor the fallen crew as well as those who survived. My Dad was with the 101st Airborne Div at Battle of the Bulge, and this would have made him proud. Thanks again
Joey neef..kan niks anders zeggen een DIKKE Chapeau!!!! Wat doe je dit toch weer fantastisch. Ik hoop nog mooie dingen van je te zien. Ben trots op je. 👌
So many brave men fought and died and many others suffered terrible hardships to preserve our freedom. One must never take that for granted and we must stay vigilant against those who seek to eradicate our freedom. Wonderful film.
That was an amazing documentary and story, really well put together, thanks a lot for this. I live in Luxembourg not far from the crash site and didn't know anything about it.
This is a very touching story. Every year I visit friends and tour battlefields in Belgium. I am always very touched by the people of Belgium and their respect and remembrance of the Americans who fought in WWII. It makes me proud to be an American and wish more people in the United States cared about the sacrifices of our countrymen. Thank you Belgium.
I'm Dutch by Birth, with direct family part of the Dutch Resistance, My Grandfather English and part of the REME, my Grandmother was German and part of the Luftwaffe her Sister was Married to a Fighter pilot who was declared MIA. And she never married again after that. I'm glad of the work you have done to find out what happened to the crew of this bomber. And for their families. As I can see they were also originally labelled MIA. Keep up the great work.
I loved this! Very well made, great subject and big respect to you and your team Joey. I appreciate the time that goes into making these documentaries on limited budgets but am excited to see the next one whenever the time comes.
I love anything B24 after finding out my father was a gunner on the B24 for the 8th Air-Force 2nd Division 392 Bomber Group 577th Squadron. Thank you his great story…
A WWll story that needed to be told. Incredible documentary from start to finish. Just wonderful!

Beautiful words!!!

Awesome, respect for Victor and the crew for seeing this through
“A person remembered lives” ♥️
A fantastic story, quite moving in parts, and superbly filmed.

Outstanding video. It was truly emotional to watch the efforts of the team to find, recognize, and then honor the crew of "King Size".

Thanks for your work. Our American history can’t be erased by evil today when folks like you guys and our beloved allies remember.
Thanks!
Very moving story, we must never forget all those who have fallen in war.
Outstanding work Joey, and congrats to the whole team for such an amazing story! I’m honored to have visited the site and to hear Bob tell the story first hand in Feb. 2020.
Words failed me, but the tears I shed watching this I expressed in my thoughts! ❤️xxx
Thank you for honoring the Greatest Generation. These young men selflessly gave their lives for their country and the free world.
This was terrific. Thank you Dave
I raise a glass to everyone involved in this project, the "King Size" crew, and the MVP Victor!
Phenomenal documentary. Truly the greatest generation.
Awesome ! Just what i needed on the day before Christmas , everyone involved to tell this story. Keep up the great work !

I probably would not be alive if it wasn't for these amazing heroes, Thankyou.🙏
People who are not even in America love America more than we do - thank you for your dedication, support, and honoring those brave airmen!
WHAT A FANTASTIC EFFORT !!--A BIG SALUTE FROM AUSTRALIA, TOO !!
Superbly done! Thanks to all that contributed and especially to Victor. - my Dad was at the Bulge.
👏👏👏👏outstanding!
Well done !!
What an amazing story
BEAUTIFUL - lovely documentary - and what a story - 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Outstanding.
Thank you, to Victor...
And, to all Researchers, and Ceremony folks.
Semper Fidelis.
Thanks 🍻
Or Japanese as Americans also fought in Pacific
Excellent Film, It's Fantastic that people take the time to piece together events and commemorate the Brave Young men who flew their last mission.
This is a wonderful story! Never Forget!...
Merci pour ce doc, magnifique histoire. 👍❤️
Thanks SNAFUDOCS for going to the extent you did to honor the fallen crew as well as those who survived. My Dad was with the 101st Airborne Div at Battle of the Bulge, and this would have made him proud.
Thanks again
Brilliant, well done guys.
Joey neef..kan niks anders zeggen een DIKKE Chapeau!!!! Wat doe je dit toch weer fantastisch. Ik hoop nog mooie dingen van je te zien. Ben trots op je. 👌
Amazing story, thank you for sharing
So many brave men fought and died and many others suffered terrible hardships to preserve our freedom. One must never take that for granted and we must stay vigilant against those who seek to eradicate our freedom. Wonderful film.
That was an amazing documentary and story, really well put together, thanks a lot for this. I live in Luxembourg not far from the crash site and didn't know anything about it.
Très beau documentaire. Très émouvant. Merci à vous.
Well done all involved. A great tribute to the crew and a great tribute to Victor.
I can't even begin to tell you how much I enjoyed and appreciate this video. Very well done! 👏🏻 👍🏻
Absolutely wonderful. Well done to everyone involved in this project.
