You guys are awesome! I turned 40 almost a year ago, and since I have started having pain where I never have before. I had a shoulder injury, a hamstring injury, and most recently a back issue. I went to your channel for all three issues and did the exercises that you recommended for those issues, and the shoulder and hamstring cleared up. I am now working on the back issue. Although that is not fixed yet, the exercises you recommended are starting to help alleviate the pain. It's not so bad that I've had to take any over-the-counter pain reliever, but bad enough that I realized I had to do something about it. Thank you for creating this channel and for posting your helpful videos! Not only is this great information, but it helps, and you deliver it in an entertaining way. I love watching your videos!!!!

Thanks. This is the best video. Good inhales and exhales are super important during the exercise. You exhale when you relax from the position of the exercise. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

What do you two think of the hanging from a bar with both hands. Ive heard that is good for stretching the upper back. I feel a lot of my upper back and shoulder pain is due to stress. I know how tight the muscles are as when I last had a massage I find it almost impossible to not tighten up and the pain is not unbearable because I'm so used to it but the muscles just feel so much tighter and although I have no breathing problems I feel like I have to take deep breaths when I get a massage, it's almost like my way of preparing for when the muscles just tighten up.
My thoracic muscles get so tight that even lying down on my back hurts. They shorten and I feel them pulling all day long. It even affects my breathing. I have costochondritis as well. And fybromyalgia. So it comes back all the time. In flare ups. Going trough one right now so I hope these excersises help
That is a cat stretch. If you every seen a cat stretch that is exactly how they do it. I never really noticed it until I adopted a feral cat, EliMae. Now she goes to her scratching post and stretches. She even likes it when I massage her. She does this several times a day. Always with a smile
I’m having trouble with my back now and I’m going to try this. I’m a power lifter so I always have stress on my back. I’m also 6ft7 385 pounds so I have a lot of weight on it so it probably don’t help. Now I’m having intense lower left back pain where it takes me 10-15 min to stand up. Walking is causing intense pain and feels like I have intense stress on my spine while standing. I am literally almost dragging my left leg as it’s painful to lift it. I can’t bend at all. I took my vacation from work early and am off till January thanks to Christmas break. Hopefully with these stretches I’ll be able to get to work, I can’t live with this pain much longer. Trying to avoid the doctor If I can.
This is really timely for me. I think I must be holding some stress in my upper back (maybe I am raising up my shoulders in a "stress response" or something). Anyhow THANK YOU...
The area under my right shoulder blade is hurting. It was after I did some waist and abs workout (maybe I did it wrongly). It hasn't completely gone now(about 2 days after it). And it's only when I turn in that direction like one of the exercise in this video it hurts. Hope I didn't pull some muscles(although it isn't that much of a pain so it may not be that🤷♀️).
II have a 10 day retreat in Dec and am worried about my back. Sitting for any periods can be a real chore yet alone 10 hours a day for 10 days on the floor. I wonder what you might recommend for this kind of strain.

I got on of those Thermotex pads and it is so AWESOME. Really helps with the discomfort in my upper back (and now I have these exercises, too).
Thanks guys, those stretches really helped. the chair ones I couldn't do due to the shape of the chairs. But the rest were great.
I rolled up my yoga mat, (or use a towel) and laid directly on top of it with the roll parallel my spine. Worked really well!

The positions are Cat (rounded back) and Cow (sway back) and are practiced in Yoga. The Camel is a back bend posture.
