@@yngklivin9071 he's a villian from DragonBall Z. He absorbs two human androids to make himself transform into Perfect Cell. Then he claims to be Perfect
The basic concept is that perfection is the same as stagnation. It's why a "perfect Utopia" would be an absolute nightmare to live in. So many people strived for a perfect world and in the process surpassed eachother...thus we have evolution. The moment we have achieved this pefection we cannot evolve anymore and reach a dead end. This was without a doubt one of my favorite all time speeches.
not to mention we could never achieve utopia. It's hard to please 1 person like that, then what about 8 billion in all of history. The only utopia we can ever get is if we manage to create a virtual reality where can craft whatever we want. Become perfects gods yet still unhappy. Perfection is a philosophical term for chasing a goal we will never reach. but true perfection is like god, we would never understand it. Maybe from god or whoever created all of it our world is perfect because... it's so imperfect. So full of everything. Countless possibilities if the multiverse exists and they all span for eternity with infinite space. and then we can add technology that will add another layer of dimensions created in virtual reality.
we strive to achieve a concept into reality but in reality we then realize that it is only perfect in our fantasy its so interesting how we tried so hard to cast that thought away thinking that we can achieve perfection but only the few know that it cant never be done so being a mad lad is breaking the system but the system was never broken it was only change in the way we could not understand it
that's why the first thing we do when we achieve what we set to is decadence, we immediately leave what we fought for because if we staled our life would have no meaning
Perfection is also unobtainable, though again it’s also based on philosophy. Perfection requires absolutes, and since life is imperfect and requires evolution to adapt, perfection is automatically impossible to achieve. However the pursuit of perfection is a very real thing, but one must understand that it will never be achieved. In evolution, why can’t we have the perfect evolution, intelligence, strength, agility etc, because that’s not obtainable, that would also require us to consume gigantic amounts of resources to maintain said form. So our bodies adapt and evolve for the best case in our particular scenario. He is right when he said to be perfect is to be nothing, because nothing is perfect as it is, nothing. No desire, there isn’t even anything there to work with and to modify, there is no change to have to obtain that nothing, which is perfect. So to be perfect is to have nothing, but to continue life and our desires we must have something and by which we will always be imperfect.

This speech right here spoke volumes to you on not only on this character but also the concept of perfection. This dude is the epitome of what it means to be a mad scientist, everything he said in the speech was the absolute truth. Perfection really is the enemy of progression and evolution. If something is perfect, then there's nothing else to do. As such, those who are perfect become stagnant and won't be able to continue to drive further. My favorite part about the speech is that Mayuri is not saying people shouldn't continue to strive to be better, but rather he is saying that people shouldn't strive become perfect because then they would have no reason to continue moving forward or make any type of progression. Still one of my all-time favorite speeches from right next to Sora from No Game No Life speech on Humanity's weakness.
This is honestly one of the most underrated speeches, Mayuri always speaks the truth and takes account to the reality in any situation even in a fight. He truly speaks of his character and how well written he is.
That's because almost every speech in Bleach is less idealistic, more "realistic" and personal. Almost everyone speaking speaks from experience and or with the intent to teach something to Ichigo or in this instance Szayelaporro Granz and makes sense in not only within Bleach but in reality
I agree with both of you (Zen and Mordred), there's nothing wrong with having dreams that you want to achieve, but you also have to accept the rules of reality, some people choose to ignore reality and just pursue their dreams, some choose reality over dreams and some choose to accept both and go for their dreams despite all downsides, but if you truly want to achieve what you want you must accept both, Mayuri for example said that he hates perfection, and that's because perfection means that there's a limit to the world when Mayuri doesn't want there to be a limit so that way he'll never have to stop doing what he likes, Einstein himself once said: "Imagination is more important than knowledge" and that's because knowledge is limited but imagination is how people find new things to explore beyond the limits of our world (TLDR: the world has rules but don't let that stop you from chasing your dreams, also Bleach > Naruto)
More: put it your best half-effort! Would not want to achieve anything, would you? Or else, what are you going to do? Why make something new or perfect what you have when you can just make the new iPhone 32.
@@seprithlicastia463That’s the exact opposite of the intent of this speech. He says that the idea of perfection limits us, prevents us from going further. To not embrace perfection is to say to do more, to push harder, to be better, to never stop proving yourself. Always reach for perfection and never be satisfied, because the very idea of reaching it will be the last time you ever do so. Embracing perfection means you are complete and never grow. To reject perfection is to never stop growing.
Honestly this whole speech applies not just to scientists but to those who are known for being great intellects of the arts. Whether those arts be for crafting stories or .aking images and sculptures. Scientists and artists carry many of the same principles when you apply this speech in how perfection is a condition of hopelessness
If one is too perfect, they became imperfect, they lose the ability to grow and that itself become it's flaw. Same thing also apply to imperfect. They both contradict one and another creating a perfect balance.

I’m no scientist, but I want to be an exceptional singer one day. Improving day by day is the only way I’ll make it.
Close second to Abathurs take on perfection: "Never perfect. Perfection goal that changes. Never stops moving. Can chase, cannot catch." Full conversation: Kerrigan: Tell me about your work. Abathur: Look at flesh, see only potential. Strands, sequences, twisting, separating, joining. See how it could be better. Abathur: Eat flesh, splinter bone. Inside me, can touch it. Weave it. Spin it. Abathur: Make it great. Kerrigan: But not perfect? Abathur: Never perfect. Perfection goal that changes. Never stops moving. Can chase, cannot catch. Kerrigan: You certainly have your uses.
This scene made Mayuri my favorite character. When he's first introduced, you start off thinking he must have absolutely no moral compass with all the horrors he's committed. But the truth is he does have principles. The thing which anchors him, his whole purpose for living, is the endless of pursuit of knowledge and progress. It might logically conclude that there's some endpoint to that, some point by which there's nothing left to improve nor discover. But not only does Mayuri acknowledge this is not possible, he doesn't want it to be possible either. That point is the heat death of all wonder, innovation, and creativity. And crossing that threshold, much less pretending to have crossed it, is something he does consider to be truly evil. Such a fascinating character, even if you don't condone his actions you can at least understand where he's coming from. Whether it be religion, ideology, or lifestyle, we all cling to some kind of ideal. We envision a perfection of ourselves, or this world, or a world beyond it and hope it will grant us salvation from our imperfect conditions. And while that has become the motivation for many good things (art, science, philosophy, etc.) people like Mayuri dare to question whether the ideal itself is truly worth achieving (if it were possible to do so). Is eternally stagnating in the epilogue of all progress with nothing left to strive for not a hell in its own right? You can allow such ideals to ground you, to give you a framework for what you want to change. Never stop your endeavor to *_perfecting_* something. But don't delude yourself with it. We live in a constantly changing world and thus our very conceptions of "perfection" change with it. And that's a good thing! After all the only true perfection is death, because only the dead never need to change.
He's right. Perfection does not exist in the nature of this world. It's a dead end. Being imperfect means that there's always room to improve. And if something is born perfect the concept of improvement does not even apply to this organism.
My Oceanography Professor upon entering college: "There is no, 'absolute truth' in science." Saying something is certain is closing the doors on anything. Nothing would improve.
This perfectly represents the anti spirals in gurran Lagann. The anti spirals believed that the power of the spiral(the power to evolve) would lead to nothing but destruction of the universe and because of this they stagnated themselves in order to become perfect. No individuality, no hopes and dreams, and no purpose other than to prevent others from growing past them. In the end being perfect is why they lost. Those who have nothing to strive for will achieve nothing in return.
No it didn't "perfectly" represent the anti spirals in gurran Lagann, that'd be against the speech. You should say "this speech is a 9.99/10 representation of the anti spirals in gurran lagann." Gosh you guys missed mayori's whole point of nothing is perfect!?
Mayuri and Szayelaporro are both SICKENINGLY Evil, they're just different flavors of it; Szayel thinks he's already perfect and continues his evil experiments for fun. While Mayuri commits many of HIS sins in the name of scientific progress, and astoundingly enough, manages to produce tangible results. Mayuri manages to be more DANGEROUS simply because he combines Szayel's level of sadism with a genuine desire to scientifically understand the soul, with said desire being UNENDING because of the many possibilities that every plane of existence has to offer. That, and he's on the side of the "Good Guys".
I think the reason Mary-Sues are so hated is because you're trying to create a perfect character. Perfection is the same as stagnation and that is something, we as humans, hate with a passion. That is why we strive to improve and discover new things because without the chase and excitement of discovery, we would be lost.
Mayuri has a special place in my heart because of this quote right here. It serves as a reminder for me to always strive to move forward and become better, but be realistic and logical about it. Perfection is impossible because we HAVE to grow as humans or we stop becoming who we really are. Never forget what you’ve been through and who you love. And always strive to wake up and do better than the day before. But be humble and understand that you WILL fail occasionally. But that’s the joy of it for when we succeed DESPITE our failures. Fuck this guy just gets it man I tell ya hwhat
Reason why Mayuri is my favorite, that speech resonated alot with me in my studies and how I perceive things perfection is an end all instead focus on new possibilities and achievements
the end of his speech when he says "trying to reach for something that in the end we may have to admit may in fact be unreachable" hit the hardest. if you know you know

Didn't think I'd see a starcraft reference here.
Who else pumped for thousand year blood war being animated!
Me they just need to fix the ending and jugram vs uryu fight
@@donzzeee2317 nothing's wrong with that fight though
@@melonboi927 the whole last battle felt beyond rushed. Although a lot of the arc felt that way.
Bleach's dialogue is leagues above Narutos, no contest
That's because almost every speech in Bleach is less idealistic, more "realistic" and personal. Almost everyone speaking speaks from experience and or with the intent to teach something to Ichigo or in this instance Szayelaporro Granz and makes sense in not only within Bleach but in reality
I agree with both of you (Zen and Mordred), there's nothing wrong with having dreams that you want to achieve, but you also have to accept the rules of reality, some people choose to ignore reality and just pursue their dreams, some choose reality over dreams and some choose to accept both and go for their dreams despite all downsides, but if you truly want to achieve what you want you must accept both, Mayuri for example said that he hates perfection, and that's because perfection means that there's a limit to the world when Mayuri doesn't want there to be a limit so that way he'll never have to stop doing what he likes, Einstein himself once said: "Imagination is more important than knowledge" and that's because knowledge is limited but imagination is how people find new things to explore beyond the limits of our world
(TLDR: the world has rules but don't let that stop you from chasing your dreams, also Bleach > Naruto)
The only speeches that were relatable in Naruto came from Madara, Pain, and Itachi.
@@nightzephyr248 i dont even remember Madaras speech
@@ImpeccableZentertainment When he spoke to Obito
In short, innovate, innovate, innovate...... til' the world destroy
My recommendation is suddenly flowing with bleach quotes maybe its a sign for me to rewatch it
These bleach speeches feel like the hour long cutscenes from metal gear.
Call me intrigued
Bleach monologues are always fire
Always love how deep stuffed Mayuri's lines have been. True genious !
Honestly one of the best speeches in Bleach.
Madness and brilliance is what I see
Still always a great character
Making this my yearbook quote
Dude that’s sick!
Great idea
You know it gets deep when that sad Bleach music plays in the background.
If you replace being with life, and scientist with artist, you get life.
Bleach. A poetic masterpiece
If one is too perfect, they became imperfect, they lose the ability to grow and that itself become it's flaw. Same thing also apply to imperfect. They both contradict one and another creating a perfect balance.
Whoever wrote this is a true genius
Perfect cell: welp I'm out
Your perfect celll was long toasted by not perfect goku, 😂. In short, he fell short to be called PERFECT BEING.
@@robingenelza2654 he had perfect potential but he thought he was already perfect in his perfect form thus never grew proving mayuris point really
@@wilmagregg3131 welp, im saying is just because the doctor who created and programmed you to be perfect by consuming A. 17 and 18 means you are really are going to be. Its just a title and beliefs or completion of his experiments anyway.
@@robingenelza2654 yep and ironically the reason why cell never thought he could improve beyond perfect is the arrogance he gained from freiza and king cold.
Anytime I get wrapped up in my desire to be the best, or to be perfect…..I come to this speech. It hits home for me, and it makes me realize time and again that both this, and my mom’s wisdom is correct. Perfection sucks. And it’s honestly a dead end. I’m no scientist, but I want to be an exceptional singer one day. Improving day by day is the only way I’ll make it.
Despite him being a little bit of a mad scientist he may understand more then then they percieve
Little bit? I would say he’s completely off the deep end with moments of clarity beyond mere mortal comprehension
I love bleach so much, because behind all epic fights, it’s truly a battle of philosophy.
Close second to Abathurs take on perfection:
"Never perfect. Perfection goal that changes. Never stops moving. Can chase, cannot catch."
Full conversation:
Kerrigan: Tell me about your work.
Abathur meeting a soul reaper
“Strange, no essence , no body, yet it is corporeal but I cannot harvest or examine.
The way that person talks reminds me of Mordin Solis from mass effect 2. Really good character
omg you are so right I forgot a lot of the hots campaign
Now THATS how you give a speech! 👍
This speech motivated me as a kid and really influenced my life
I'm always impressed by the amount of disgust the voice actor put into the line of "If something is truly perfect... THAT'S IT!"
This speech and Aizen stopping Ichigo's theme song with a finger are my two most memorable moments in Bleach.
This guy was taking some real life shit right here though no one can't say cap on that the world is a bitch about perfection
I was never much of a fan of Mayuri, but this speech plus the callback to it in the Thousand Year Blood War arc is pretty amazing.
My Oceanography Professor upon entering college: "There is no, 'absolute truth' in science." Saying something is certain is closing the doors on anything. Nothing would improve.
He actually makes so much sense despite being insane.
You can paint the finest piece of art, but it doesn’t mean that it’s perfect.
Bleach is not perfect, but you can tell these quotes are filled with passion from kubo
As Mayuri said, nothing is perfect.
"U lost to me the moment u said perfect" wise words🔥
You know it is funny that there is one notable thing Kisuke and Mayuri that they understand that things are how they are.
This speech truely made me respect mayuri
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why Mayuri Kurostuchi is indeed shonen's GOAT among mad scientists.
Nothing in this world makes sense that's why you must live in the present moment 🖤
"If something is truly perfect, that's - *it."*
You know, for a sadistic mad scientist he makes a pretty good point here.
This is lowkey uplifting. You can never be perfect but you can always be better.
He maybe a madman and mad scientist, but this is a very enlightening quote for perfectionists like myself. Perfection is in the eyes of the beholder.
This my favorite
Cause his right so make the best u can
Mayuri was talking to szayelaporro...and Szayelaporro was trapped in Superspeed hell.
Kurotsuchi is probably the only soul reaper captain I would refuse to fight, the guys full of naughty tricks..
Mayur is telling the truth here as perfection is unachievable. The only thing we can do is be better than what came before.
@@reignadams6692 I love how you only had something to say about that and not the rest of my comment lmao
Truly agree with him perfection is just something that would be kind of dumb there's nothing to gain after that and I like to gain and to evolve.
This is it, this is why I love bleach. It explores the Philosophical questions
I honestly love this speech. It may be coming from a villain but it is super insightful, and a good philosophy.
Favorite speech from the series
Can't wait for him vs Pernida. Best fight in all of Bleach
Good analysis
I imagine Mayuri as a bit of a self insert for Kubo. I hear Mayuri’s voice, but I feel Kubo’s words.
Cell been pretty quiet since Mayuri dropped this right here 💥
This is honest to God my favorite speech and cemented Mayuri as one of my favorite characters.
bleach has some of the best quotes ever.
One of the best speeches in anime
Bleach returns this year!! Super hyper
Reason why Mayuri is my favorite, that speech resonated alot with me in my studies and how I perceive things perfection is an end all instead focus on new possibilities and achievements
He is definitely one of my favorite characters in bleach now
the end of his speech when he says "trying to reach for something that in the end we may have to admit may in fact be unreachable" hit the hardest. if you know you know
