- So this was the other big panel that was going on at this years sac anime. FAIR WARNING! THERE WILL BE SPOILERS ABOUT THE GAME LAST OF US! it was a great panel and very informative about the game and what the voice actors thought about it.

Joel and Ellie = Father/daughter relationship
Troy and Ashley = Brother/sister relationship.
As a gamer, no matter how hard you try, you can't escape Nolan North.

Nolan and Troy are such a perfect combination :D And Ashley may not say much, but she is absolutely wonderful!
Stroya Yeah, she sure is. It dawned on me how quiet she got, after about the time she deferred to Troy on one of the questions. Understandable. He's a damn good storyteller, and if I were in Ashley's place I'd be perfectly content to sit and enjoy Troy and Nolan's banter.
The line "Ellie, you're treading on some--mighty thin ice here" gives me the fucking goosebumps every time.

i can separate troy from his characters but every time i hear ash's voice i can't separate her from ellie. her voice will forever make me think of ellie T-T
That's most likely because Ellie's voice IS Ashley's voice. It's just her normal speaking voice without altering it any. Troy's the same way for me with Booker because Booker's voice is basically just Troy's normal voice where-as Joel's voice requires Troy to deepen his voice a bit and make it gruffer.
It's also because Ellie is so incredibly similar to Ashley. Joel is a big contrast to Troy.

Not trying to be a dick, but I really don't see how Ashley's similar to Ellie other than the voice. I can't imagine Ashley running around saying fuck all the time, talking shit to people, stabbing people with a pocket knife and using firearms while also playing with 14 year old girls just like I can't see Troy shooting people, torturing them, shivving them in the neck, and being almost 50 years old. Ashley seems to be a very timid woman where Ellie has an extremely abrasive personality. That's my view on it though.
Garrus -Vakarian Obviously, I don't mean physically, I mean mentally. Their personalities are so alike. Ashley is very feisty and stands for what she believes in. She's very honest about how she feels. I don't really find Ellie 'abrasive' at all. She has a very loveable, goofy side as we saw in Left Behind in the flashbacks with Riley; the joke book, the photo booth etc.

Damn! Troy is so pro when it comes to talking and communicating with the fans and audience! Ashely is so shy I didn’t really expect her to be like that.
You know a game/movie/book is good when you have what is basically a 5-6 page essay running in your head detailing your thoughts on the game, and its characters. And you have to pause a video you're watching to inject your thoughts on the subject in your own head.

heh. its funny. I loved the ending to last of us. it fit. I interpreted it nearly the same way Ashley did. and I hated ending of ME3. becasue it didn't fit. sometimes, ending that you may not wish for, is a great ending nonetheless. and ME3 was not that ending. and not becasue players didn't understand it and needed clarification (becasue extended cut changed nothing about the problems of the ending, it just added exposition to it). its because it didn't fit the rest of the game - in fact in many ways it contradicted the rest of the game - if the last of us did something like that, they would have had Joel leave Ellie to be dissected. so I'm not sure its truly comparable in current state. if anything - its more comparable to Fallout 3 - ending that was also originally disliked becasue it was just so arbitrary and pointless and illogical for the same of sacrificing main character. or, here's another example. Red Dead redemption. that ending was NOT happy. it was bittersweet, but it was not happy. but it fit. it fit so damn well. so I disagree with Troy. Last of us may have been polarizing, but it was becasue it was a good ending. ME3 was polarizing becasue it was NOT.

i think a lot of the people that come out to these things are gamers that never see the sunlight, and forget how to interact with humans once they ask their questions
Because you want to ask it completely right, you're talking not only to these people that you're a giant fan of but also in front of many other people sitting in the room. You don't wanna screw up. It's nerve wrecking. I've been in that place. You keep rephrasing your question in your head over and over again. Thinking that's gonna help, but you still sound like a helpless bunny during the winter when you actually end up asking that question.
most of these people made me cringe hard but Troy impresses more with how he deals with these people.
