Scrolling down the comments section, all I can see is "This game is overrated." What's overrated is jumping in the bandwagon and deciding this game sucks without even playing it. I see a lot of people following trends just like that. As soon as a popular person say something's good, then the game is good for everyone. This is something games have been struggling with for years. How to make a great gameplay experience without having it take away from the storytelling. This is something The Last of Us has finally conquered.

Ashley Johnson my credit to you for voicing Ellie. Most time voice actor have to shift their voices a little to get want they want (Troy baker doesn't sound 100% like Joel) But Ashley sound like it all natural especially when they were carking jokes in the beginning. I could see Ellie talking there. In all word, great acting for the both of you two and great natural voices for Ashley.
God..I didnt think I could love them more but wow... Cant even begin to explain how much this game has impacted on me, I recognized my self so much in Ellie when I was 14. It's easy to say "oh it's just a game" Sure, it is, but it also isn't. You can't fake the emotions you feel while playin this. Im forever grateful!
troy baker literally has everything, he could easily be an on screen star. But he just seems so humble, down to earth, great guy and it doesnt look like all the success has gone to his head so its impossible not to like him :p

Not to sound like a noob but I just looked up Troy Baker's list of roles after barely being able to believe he's Joel, and he's also played so many roles I've seen before that I still can't believe. He played fucking James Sunderland from Silent Hill 2. I looked up all the roles I'm familiar with and he's unrecognizable in all of them. He also played Booker in Bioshock: Infinite and is going to play Ocelot in MGS: Phantom Pain. To top it off, he's also a musician in Akira Yamaoka's Silent Hill band. This guy is unbelievable. If you haven't looked up his list of work, you might get a good laugh at how many things he's been in that you wouldn't think.
He played James Sunderland in the HD collection version of silent hill 2 which had the voice-overs re-done. Guy Cihi was the original actor for James...

I don't understand the dislike towards Last of Us. It was one of the few times were a cinematic movie like game is given actual gameplay that's pretty fun. I always hear the biggest complaint from some hipster being that he feels the game supports the devolution of gaming and takes away from the zombie franchise. If anything, LoU adds to the zombie franchise, and if you want to watch a devolution of gaming, go play a Quantic Dream game.

It is overrated lol. The A.I., the easy 1 button kill combat system, the upgrading only makes this easy game easier, the unexplained hearing powers Joel and Ellie have.... meanwhile the game's sound department is excellent and completely negates the point of the hearing ability, the tired and predicable storytelling, filler levels with horses and kill more guys for no reason in the forest. Quick timer events everywhere... So much wrong with this game. I can go on if you need more reasons.

I think he was just one of those kids who is just so awkward and I mean AWKWARD. It was annoying as hell though and Troy's facial expression showed that he was annoyed too. Or maybe that guy in the audience was in fact a douche and didn't care. Who knows. But that moment was so cringeworthy.
This panel was amazing, the anecdotes from both Ashley and Troy about the experience they went through in making this game was a joy to see. Also hearing about how the game has changed not only aspects in their professional lives, but how it has impacted them personally (the video Ashley saw and what it means to her) goes to show how transcendental The Last of Us truly is.
This panel was awesome! Ashley and Troy both gave such incredible and memorable performances in this game! Also, Courtnee's appearance at the end made this even more legit ;)

"Overrated" is such a stupid word. Nowadays everything that's gets really popular gets called "Overrated". Most of the people that hate on TLOU don't understand the barriers it broke or understand the meaning behind it's story. It's a Huge step forward for video game storytelling because of the way it combines it's Gameplay and Story almost seamlessly. The way the characters are written are some of the best in gaming AND MOVIES. So keep in mind it's not the gameplay or the story that's so revolutionary about it's the merging of the two and the way it's characters are portrayed. It's straight up the most IMMERSIVE game ive ever played.
Erm... I'm an Xbox fan, and IMO Xbox One is the console for me. But, but, this game..... this game.. just I've never seen anything like this. It was, hands down, THE best game of the last generation, alongside Halo. I... it affected me so much, it changed my perspective of life. The story, the narrative, the character, the BEAUTIFUL graphics, .... its just... OMG. I loved it very, very much, and I can't have enough of it. Hats off to the devs.

I've never had the money to buy a PS3 or a PS4 to play the last of us, but I've watched many walkthroughs on it many times. Even then I am captivated by the game and the emotion that I feel during Sara's death for example, never changes. Even though I've never played it, I could happily say that The Last of Us is THE BEST game I have ever seen. EVER. I am yet to see a game that beats it.
I don't buy the argument that this game is only good based on the merit of its narrative. It plays beautifully. It's responsive, the gunplay is exhilarating, the melee is brutal, and it just all comes together seamlessly. I play it all the time even though at this point I know exactly every line, mannerisms, body language, etc in every part. Brilliant game as well as story.

As a father, Joel's story connected so much with me. I couldn't stop thinking about the game when I wasn't playing it and when I was I was totally immersed. Troy Baker made magic happen as Joel and TLOU made me really question what I would do as a father to protect my family.

There's just that irrational protectiveness naturally that is so hard to overcome even if you know intellectually that it's not for the greater good... you just don't care in that moment. You get emotional selfish as a human being.
I never saw this game till this year and I watched the walkthroughs on UA-cam. The Last of Us is a beautifully made game with terrific character development and acting, Ashley blew me away as Ellie. One of the best characters Ive ever seen, in general, in a video game. same does with Joel. Its saddens me that kids these days want shooters, more CoD and other story-less games and they dont want to experience games like this all the time.
I'm so happy I got to watch this. Honestly I loved that game, and I for maybe the first time, felt emotionally changed because of it. I really wish that Troy and Ashley could work together in the future, even though it might not be likely, I love both of them. Hands down.

This game clearly isn't "over-rated" if it won so many awards, it's getting a PS4 port and a year has almost passed while it is still heavily discussed in an era where peoples' memory seems short and the next big thing seems to be different on a monthly basis. Many games get over-hyped and fade away fast. Last Of Us had awesome characters, great character development, great voice acting, great gameplay and an engaging story, fun multiplayer. The beauty of it all is that nothing was sacrificed for the sake of something else. The campaign was long and hard to put down and I never felt bored or in a rush to get to the next cutscene. It was a perfect balance of gameplay and story. Many others have one or the other, not many have both. Left Behind was awesome too.
No matter how many times I replay the game, I still get really emotionally wrapped up in the story. TLOU is beyond anything I've played and I've never felt so attached to game characters as in TLOU. It's just an unique journey and I can't wait to continue this journey in part II!

The A.I., the easy 1 button kill combat system, the upgrading only makes this easy game easier, the unexplained hearing powers Joel and Ellie have.... meanwhile the game's sound department is excellent and completely negates the point of the hearing ability, the tired and predicable storytelling, filler levels with horses and kill more guys for no reason in the forest. Quick timer events everywhere... So much wrong with this game.
I can go on if you need more reasons.

Yo Greg what a great interview man. i haven't played the game yet bc I'm waiting for to come to ps4 but i couldn't stay away. These two actors are amazing, i choked up a lot through the interview so now i can only imagine what this game will me to me.
this is amazing. how gaming is evolving. i just hope troy leads the path for other voice actors to grow and raise the bar for gaming quality.

I think he was just one of those kids who is just so awkward and I mean AWKWARD. It was annoying as hell though and Troy's facial expression showed that he was annoyed too. Or maybe that guy in the audience was in fact a douche and didn't care. Who knows. But that moment was so cringeworthy.
This panel was amazing, the anecdotes from both Ashley and Troy about the experience they went through in making this game was a joy to see. Also hearing about how the game has changed not only aspects in their professional lives, but how it has impacted them personally (the video Ashley saw and what it means to her) goes to show how transcendental The Last of Us truly is.

Really nice listening to these people, I love the game and they're such professionals, there is really quite a lot that goes into being a good actor, including self-knowledge and emotional control.
"Overrated" is such a stupid word. Nowadays everything that's gets really popular gets called "Overrated". Most of the people that hate on TLOU don't understand the barriers it broke or understand the meaning behind it's story. It's a Huge step forward for video game storytelling because of the way it combines it's Gameplay and Story almost seamlessly. The way the characters are written are some of the best in gaming AND MOVIES. So keep in mind it's not the gameplay or the story that's so revolutionary about it's the merging of the two and the way it's characters are portrayed.
It's straight up the most IMMERSIVE game ive ever played.

I wouldnt say GTA5 as a whole was over-rated but the SP was for sure. The multilayer in GTA 5 is unlike anything else.

I've never had the money to buy a PS3 or a PS4 to play the last of us, but I've watched many walkthroughs on it many times. Even then I am captivated by the game and the emotion that I feel during Sara's death for example, never changes. Even though I've never played it, I could happily say that The Last of Us is THE BEST game I have ever seen. EVER. I am yet to see a game that beats it.
I don't buy the argument that this game is only good based on the merit of its narrative. It plays beautifully. It's responsive, the gunplay is exhilarating, the melee is brutal, and it just all comes together seamlessly.
I play it all the time even though at this point I know exactly every line, mannerisms, body language, etc in every part.

As a father, Joel's story connected so much with me. I couldn't stop thinking about the game when I wasn't playing it and when I was I was totally immersed. Troy Baker made magic happen as Joel and TLOU made me really question what I would do as a father to protect my family.
***** According to Neil Druckman and how he created Joel, most fathers would kill the entire world to save their child... There's just that irrational protectiveness naturally that is so hard to overcome even if you know intellectually that it's not for the greater good... you just don't care in that moment. You get emotional selfish as a human being.
I never saw this game till this year and I watched the walkthroughs on UA-cam. The Last of Us is a beautifully made game with terrific character development and acting, Ashley blew me away as Ellie. One of the best characters Ive ever seen, in general, in a video game. same does with Joel. Its saddens me that kids these days want shooters, more CoD and other story-less games and they dont want to experience games like this all the time.
I'm so happy I got to watch this. Honestly I loved that game, and I for maybe the first time, felt emotionally changed because of it. I really wish that Troy and Ashley could work together in the future, even though it might not be likely, I love both of them. Hands down.
I'm emotionally attached to this game. I listen to the soundtrack constantly and play random chapters of the game hopelessly. It just captured my heart and I can't explain it.

when troy spoke in joels voice 50:50 a part of me cried inside, I loved how he remembered the optional 3 second instance in the game where joel expressed his love for coffee, i hope tommy's warehouse electricity found a way to make some by part II

This game clearly isn't "over-rated" if it won so many awards, it's getting a PS4 port and a year has almost passed while it is still heavily discussed in an era where peoples' memory seems short and the next big thing seems to be different on a monthly basis. Many games get over-hyped and fade away fast. Last Of Us had awesome characters, great character development, great voice acting, great gameplay and an engaging story, fun multiplayer. The beauty of it all is that nothing was sacrificed for the sake of something else. The campaign was long and hard to put down and I never felt bored or in a rush to get to the next cutscene. It was a perfect balance of gameplay and story. Many others have one or the other, not many have both. Left Behind was awesome too.
No matter how many times I replay the game, I still get really emotionally wrapped up in the story. TLOU is beyond anything I've played and I've never felt so attached to game characters as in TLOU. It's just an unique journey and I can't wait to continue this journey in part II!
If a game can make you cry or get into your feels. It is the best. Period

I don't have a ps3 and wouldn't buy one just to play one game. but i did watch someone do a playthrough of it and it is like watching a film only better than most films that are out at the moment.
