The Custombuckers have alot more clarity compared to the Burstbucker 1 and 2 they put in the 50s USA standard . Put a set of CBs in a 50s standard and the sound improves substantially. Even with an Epi Les Paul the Custombuckers will give the Epi a huge boost in tone . An Epi with CBs sounds better than a Gibson USA with stock Pickups like the 490 pickups or Burstbucker 1 and 2s or even 57 classics Crazy how Gibson only made the Legendary PAF for 6 years but have been making 490s and 498s for almost 40 years and the Burstbuckers for almost 30 years
