I was at these shows at the Pony, time and age may have robbed SSJ of some of his vocals he still puts on a great show. With many variations of Juke lineups he still gets it done, you cant fake sweat. This is the sights and sound of Asbury Park.
I saw them forty odd years ago, as a support band for Graham Parker and the Rumours. They blew them away. Played a week later, with Miami Steve and Ronnie Spector. A night never to be forgotten. There is only one Souvenirs...
I remember that sunday night, usual jukes fans there but more bruce fans because tbe boss was doing that fancy tv invitation gig in the church in THAT london, johnny commented that we were only here cause we couldn't get a fucking ticket then he trashed the drums
Listen to his first three albums. There are few bands to open with that quality. All gems. The third (Hearts of Stone) is regarded by many as one of the best albums of the 70's.
He never ''played the game''. Johnny did everything his own way. Good or bad, right or wrong, he was his own man and still is to this day. Years ago, when Bruce was closing Giants Stadium, I was talking to Johnny's stage manager, Hood. Hood loved Johnny and was with him for over 40 years until he passed in 2020. Anyway, I was talking with Hood, and at one point he looked up at the Stadium and said to me ''One. That's all we needed was one.''. I knew exactly what he meant.
Yeah, I know. That happens sometimes when you're very close to the stage. Also, it's from an older camera. I need to marry the video to a soundboard audio recording.
He better leave this to Bruce and Clarence-Now Toby Clemmens..SSJ-stick to your own You are Fabulous-Even go back to .......( Iknow you refuse to mention your Disco Album)....
Legandary southside johnny
Saw Southside perform 4 times in 2023 Amazing shows,Johnny was great, band was great.John Isley and the horn section were fabulous
Stone Pony is on this North Carolina boy's BUCKET LIST. I met Southside and most of the Jukes in 1981, but Man, that was a LONG time ago.
The Boss doesn't write 'em like this anymore. Thankfully, we've got Southside to keep singing 'em. This was fun.
Hysterical! What fun!
The most underated talent in the USA
Yes He Was
@@jennybushey864 He is still alive
I could never quite understand why they didn't just get so effing BIG!!
Not under-rated, perhaps though, under-appreciated.

Love this guy,his concerts are brilliant.

All of this is so good-natured Northeast.

I saw the tour in Manchester. Both bands did a joint encore of "You can,t Hurry Love". Great gig.
Who owns marble arch
I saw them in 1977? Ronnie Spector joined them for the encore!
@@jeffm3030 Ah, the AMAZING miz Ronnie. What a set on pipes on that woman!! 🙂

This song was written for bands like this one to cover.
They're more than the "Best Bar Band". They are a way of life to this NC Boy-from way back in '70s
NC? Johnny's big in North Carolina?
Gotta love him, and by him I mean the fist audience guy, also Johnny, but that guy rocked it for a "cubicle" guy!
my all-time favorite band........
loved every minute of it
+tsetuck Thank you!
Great sound -- right in front of the speakers with no disortion - Nice!

love this! thanks from those of us who couldn't be there....
Great job, Kevin, thanks! :-)
That’s proves why he’s the best out there giving up the mic so others get the lyrics they believe in out there great ….

Great job, Kevin. Thanks. Did you post "No Easy Way Down?"
I did, Gary, but I only posted on the Jukebox fan page on Facebook. A kind of an exclusive, if you will. Lol
This Man can do no wrong.
Kid, you better get the PICTURE!
Springsteen writes good tunes, but leave it to Southside Johnny to make them great!
this was in Rainbow London...note below.
He looks better today, than when he was young. Has a bigger build. And the voice is
ripened like a fresh fruit
The blonde has more talent than Bon Jovi
See you July 3rd.
I never understood why he never had a hit record.

jersy rock
Bruce has the songwriting chops, but he owes his voice to Southside.
Bruce is the modern Dylan-better at writing than singing, our modern version of Sibelius.
@@craigkowald3055 non sono daccordo/la voce di Bryce è ok! 🤔🤫😁

Whats up with everyone wearing their phones on their belts? Was is some sort of promotion? LOL
I like SSJ but he really shit the bed on this one.
belt clips. that is all.
He and Van Zandt are both better singers than the brilliant songwriter Bruce.

Nope. It's Southside Johnny. I thought I mentioned that, yes? 😆
