    I did this 3 .months ago, be careful, the hood is soft aluminum, and it does flex some,i haven't had a problem but it sure does flex right at the hinges and hinge bolt area...

    Maybe my 3rd mod ! First was MBRB exhaust front to back 3" and my 2nd ford racing shifter knob and in third hood strut

    Cheap and doesn't require maintenance or like replacing them lover time like struts etc... kinda like they need factory oil separators but lots of ppl arent car enthusiasts and will probably forget about it

    I'd suggest retrieving your prop rod from the trash. When temps drop very low, the struts' gas pressure drops, leaving them sorta marginal for holding up the hood. Having the rod in place gives you a built-in back-up.

      Not saying your wrong, but my Steeda struts are working perfectly in -5c. Working on the car all the time.

    I have hood struts on my Mustang and i don't drive it in the winter, but i noticed in extreme cold weather that the hood struts tend to lose pressure and drop the hood. I learned this the hard way while putting my battery tender on and the hood came down on my head, so don't throw away your prop in case this happens to you.

    Nice job. I am sure you did not have to cut from the hole to the outside. Just install the strut after you replace the plastic shield. I did this and it works. Removes the use of the knife.

      It may make it easier to remove the cover without touching struts for maintenance later? What you think?

      @@bluecollardaily2676 Well...I would just remove the strut and cover if I needed to get into that area for any maintenance. It really comes down to personal preference. I know I would not cut the cover. I like you channel.

      @@gilbug01 I was debating myself...little younger and I just use shoulder pop the cover on and off...its a judgment call like you said...I need to do it myself very soon HATE the prop rod....

    'bout time! I like the look of the Redline kit! Much better mounts than the FP kit. Still works and haven't had any problems with it, so, GTG.

    The prop rod won't fail over the years, it's in the way, but it beats putting a stick under your hood when the strut fails. Good mod none the less

      Nothing wrong with leaving the prop in place for just that event when the hood strut fails. And they will need replaced at some point. Particularly fail in winter.

    I usually don’t throw away any of my stock take off parts, it has saved me a couple times when the performance part failed or not performed as expected.

    Heavy hood, prop rods do not fail. Gas springs do.

    I love my redline hood struts. This is what Ford should have done to begin with. One tip is where you drilled the plastic cover. Cut a slot to the edge. This allows you to remove it in case you need to access your battery without removing the strut at that end. Great video like normal. Keep them coming

      @@bitedawg I appreciate the simplicity/weight savings/cost reduction of the prop rod. But if Mustangs came standard with lift struts, do you think people would be removing them in favor of an aftermarket prop rod? :)

      @@rolexr I did the same thing. I also squished my washer fluid line when I installed them like Zander warns against.

      @@MikeFyxdt..lol,"remove them in favor of an aftermarket prop rod"...well,the prop rod does add horsepower,but I get where you're coming from #mikefyxdt..i've seen where an improperly designed hood-strut could cause fitment problems,but i'm sure that's not the case these days...but the prop-rod...old skool cool

    Have you ever noticed how the hood flexes where the hinge mounts to the hood with the pressure from the hood struts pushing on it? Makes me a little nervous, but it's just me.

      @@Zander13Productions they look different from the '15 to '17 ones. I just put a set on my '15, and boy does the hood flex at the edge of the hinges.

    I would of kept the prob rod in place because when the hood struts go bad you have a back up. I see a million people who add hood struts then never replace them when they break 🤣

    Zander: You make great Vids, I do not own a Mustang . . .however I like that you take the time to explain . .. . and do your own installs. I hate the "prop rod" myself, and happy that my Audi S3 has the hydraulic struts. Nice simple "MOD" , should be built w/them IMO. Keep up the hard work/vids.

    Don't be afraid to use some threadlock. If those plastic rivets are bothering you, get a rivnut setup and use bolts.

    Got a 2019 Mustang GT in January and put on a set of Redline hood strusts that I got from JLT intakes painted in the same velocity blue as the car. Great looking mod.

    I had redlines on my 94 Cobra with the Cobra R double rise hood. So much easier to do anything in the engine bay

    i know from experience hood struts go bad after a while and the hood falls on your head lol. You should have kept the prop rod as a backup....

    Because hood struts eventually fail and don't last that long now if they gave life time guarantee on the struts wouldent be bad, the hood prop will last a lifetime you might as well leave it on there too so when the gas shocks fail you can prop it up,lol nothing like working under the hood and the strut randomly fails and the hood comes down on your head lol i like hood props i feel safe under the hood 🔴🇺🇸🔧👍

    Thanks for the shout out!!!!! I'm inspired to head out in the country and try not to ditch dive!!!! Also not sure what happened but all of a sudden BMR went from 3wks wait on my shock mounts to being shipped? Not sure if you had anything to do with that but double thanks if so I can't wait to get them in....
    It is FUNNY, Zander 13 installs long tube catless e85 O2 sensor modified headers and full suspension mods on garage floor...THEN does hood struts...LOL...not to mention the 10x nose piece removal.....haha... he is going hardest to easiest like us old geezers on a spark plug change....lol...
    I can't wait till you get back to track!!!!!

    The mounting slots are right there in the bonnet pressing. Hard to figure out why Ford wouldn't use bonnet struts, except for cost obviously. What's it gonna cost Ford to add struts though? Maybe $20-$30 at factory price?

    About friggin time. Like with our buddy Stangmode and removing his rear spoiler. That mod allowed him to run sub 11s now you to can run sub 11s with the pro prod mod. L O L

    I've used both MMD and Ford Performance hood struts, favouring the latter. They specify torque settings for the nut which attaches the bracket to the fender. If you torque these to spec, they will not come loose. Well, mine have never come loose. Hey, saw Stangmode get into the 10s.

    Zander 13; The hood struts look great, I tried the Ford Performance struts on my 19 . They looked good but when I went to shut the hood is where the issue came in . As I closed the hood the back corners of the hood tried to lift . So I pulled them off and sent them back to American Muscle. Saturdays weather is looking good so far will you be at the track ?

      BULLITT 40 I have the ford performance ones as well and the hood doesn’t fit flush like it does without the struts. I’ll see if CJ pony parts could swap them out with a different brand.

    Ford uses the props on most vehicles. It's a pain in the butt and can be dangerous if not used correctly. Hoods are heavy when they fall on your head. Thanks for sharing your install.

      From the information that I have gathered from my Ford dealership is it's a spec Ford usa had to do for Aus and UK rhd platform it's only a single like the Shelby but still better than prop rod.

    How about to remove the insulating mat under the hood? Could be better in case of heat diversion and you hear the sound of the V8 even better outside! ;-)

    We all know why Ford does Cheep stupid things. It's totally a bean counter thing ! In 69 Ford would sell you a 428 SCJ 4.30 gear drag pack 4 speed car with NO tach ! AND a cast iron intake just so you could have an extra 100 LBS in the front of your Mach 1 ! Why ? The stupid bean counters.....BTW love the stripes, kinda fixes the hood..
