Goodbye hood prompt hello hood strut👍🏽
Easy peasy install. It’s a must do mod for Every mustang.
I did this 3 .months ago, be careful, the hood is soft aluminum, and it does flex some,i haven't had a problem but it sure does flex right at the hinges and hinge bolt area...
Like the struts but would keep prop rod as back up
I agree ☝🏼 dude I changed out on my 2017
Just did my hood struts yesterday. Don’t know why I waited so long and I agree 110% they should already be on the car from Ford.
Maybe my 3rd mod ! First was MBRB exhaust front to back 3" and my 2nd ford racing shifter knob and in third hood strut
Cheap and doesn't require maintenance or like replacing them lover time like struts etc... kinda like they need factory oil separators but lots of ppl arent car enthusiasts and will probably forget about it
I'd suggest retrieving your prop rod from the trash. When temps drop very low, the struts' gas pressure drops, leaving them sorta marginal for holding up the hood. Having the rod in place gives you a built-in back-up.
Not saying your wrong, but my Steeda struts are working perfectly in -5c. Working on the car all the time.
So clean 🔥
Save the prop tod.
Prop rods maybe ugly but they never fail.
I have hood struts on my Mustang and i don't drive it in the winter, but i noticed in extreme cold weather that the hood struts tend to lose pressure and drop the hood. I learned this the hard way while putting my battery tender on and the hood came down on my head, so don't throw away your prop in case this happens to you.
It's about time lol let's see if everyone filled you know
Nice job. I am sure you did not have to cut from the hole to the outside. Just install the strut after you replace the plastic shield. I did this and it works. Removes the use of the knife.
It may make it easier to remove the cover without touching struts for maintenance later? What you think?
@@bluecollardaily2676 Well...I would just remove the strut and cover if I needed to get into that area for any maintenance. It really comes down to personal preference. I know I would not cut the cover. I like you channel.
@@gilbug01 I was debating myself...little younger and I just use shoulder pop the cover on and off...its a judgment call like you said...I need to do it myself very soon HATE the prop rod....
Thanks!!!!!
Steeda on mine. They transferred from my 15'.
I've got to get them myself for my 3v. The factory hood arm is such an eye sore
'bout time! I like the look of the Redline kit! Much better mounts than the FP kit. Still works and haven't had any problems with it, so, GTG.
💯
The prop rod won't fail over the years, it's in the way, but it beats putting a stick under your hood when the strut fails. Good mod none the less
Nothing wrong with leaving the prop in place for just that event when the hood strut fails. And they will need replaced at some point. Particularly fail in winter.
@@19MarkDavid I dont think auto makers instead for you to be under the hood that much, if you are..hood struts is not the issue
I usually don’t throw away any of my stock take off parts, it has saved me a couple times when the performance part failed or not performed as expected.
I have a couple extras
Heavy hood, prop rods do not fail. Gas springs do.
I love my redline hood struts. This is what Ford should have done to begin with. One tip is where you drilled the plastic cover. Cut a slot to the edge. This allows you to remove it in case you need to access your battery without removing the strut at that end. Great video like normal. Keep them coming
You may not like the prop rod but I would not throw it away
I have redlines on my 1993 fox and mrt on my 2003 mach1. I need to get some for my 17 focus ST . I like your ocd and attention to cleanliness.. lol im the same way
🙏💪
GOOD MORNING. GREAT VIDEO. LIKE ALWAYS. GREAT MOD . NEEDLESS TO SAY , THAT WAS MY FIRST MOD. AFTER YOUR TUBE FOLLOWERS SEE THIS THEY WILL BE WANTING A SET OF STRUTS. MOST MUSTANG OWNERS -- KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THEM . BE SAFE AND HAVE A GREAT DAY
Legit LEGO kit
Nice fan mail!! Very big of you to mention shawn @ bluecollardaily. That's what this channel does!
💯💪
I am not a mustang guy, but after looking at your vids. I may have to reconsider. Great job, keep up the good work.
Yes, Ford. Listen to Zander. He speaks the truth. HOOD STRUTS FOR ALL!
That is true - I don´t have my Mustang yet, but I ordered those hood lifters already.
I like my prop-rod...sorry(not really)
@@bitedawg I appreciate the simplicity/weight savings/cost reduction of the prop rod. But if Mustangs came standard with lift struts, do you think people would be removing them in favor of an aftermarket prop rod? :)
@@rolexr I did the same thing. I also squished my washer fluid line when I installed them like Zander warns against.
@@MikeFyxdt..lol,"remove them in favor of an aftermarket prop rod"...well,the prop rod does add horsepower, but I get where you're coming from #mikefyxdt..i've seen where an improperly designed hood-strut could cause fitment problems, but i'm sure that's not the case these days...but the prop-rod...old skool cool
Have you ever noticed how the hood flexes where the hinge mounts to the hood with the pressure from the hood struts pushing on it? Makes me a little nervous, but it's just me.
What I noticed about these is the brackets are a bit bigger I think
@@Zander13Productions they look different from the '15 to '17 ones. I just put a set on my '15, and boy does the hood flex at the edge of the hinges.
I'm sorry but I like my hood prop. And I'm also thinking into the future.
Why???
I would of kept the prob rod in place because when the hood struts go bad you have a back up. I see a million people who add hood struts then never replace them when they break 🤣
Zander: You make great Vids, I do not own a Mustang . . .however I like that you take the time to explain . .. . and do your own installs. I hate the "prop rod" myself, and happy that my Audi S3 has the hydraulic struts. Nice simple "MOD" , should be built w/them IMO. Keep up the hard work/vids.
Thanks. I love to teach in my videos.
ABOUT TIME! lol
Lol better late than never
@@Zander13Productions For sure man. My Little Pony....I mean Carnage is looking great
I concur! One of my first modes.
Even my 2005 Jeep had struts back then 🤦🏻♂️
Don't be afraid to use some threadlock. If those plastic rivets are bothering you, get a rivnut setup and use bolts.
Got a 2019 Mustang GT in January and put on a set of Redline hood strusts that I got from JLT intakes painted in the same velocity blue as the car. Great looking mod.
they still use prop rods because they never wear out
Yes, one hood falls and somebody’s getting sued.
Man I love your mustang !
I had redlines on my 94 Cobra with the Cobra R double rise hood. So much easier to do anything in the engine bay
i know from experience hood struts go bad after a while and the hood falls on your head lol. You should have kept the prop rod as a backup....
One of the first things I did was the hood struts.
"Ready to rock and roll"
It's cause your soul misses that RTR grill.
Lol
My rod always gets in the way
Love your Videos Brother, and your Brother Stangmode the Bearded Pirate !!as well, y'all two are great !! love y'all's podcast, from your Big Fan in the Big State of Texas, wish I was closer to where you two Race, would love to meet y'all, and watch you two Run your Mustang's, Race Safe, Brother's and God Bless, you Both, Lee
😎🙏❤️❤️
Idk why these didn't come oem.
Ford really needs to get with the program
Nice man, I put mine on about 1 month ago. Such a big difference👍
Why wouldn’t you tuck the cable behind the strut like all other videos show? It’s obvious that it sticking out isn’t the right way to do it?
can you close the hood without denting it since you have to push it closed?
It did not pinch. All is well
I mean closing the hood. You can't drop it closed now, right, so you need to push it closed which can dent the hood?
crim reaper you can drop it closed with no issues
About time! First mod I did, and it should be standard.
Lookz great Bro. I plan on doing that with mines
That's a $200 lego kit. That's some decent fan mail!
❤️❤️❤️💯
No kidding. That thing is trick.
@Tim Coleman Have you woke your steed yet from the winter slumber? Will have to get together and talk shop soon :)
@@tlcgtp I want to, but I'm still blocked in at the warehouse. It's coming out getting an oil change and going straight on a lift. I may have collected a few goodies to install over the winter.
@Tim Coleman Not sure if you do your own wrenching like I do but if you ever need a hand my bro has a brand new shop with a lift close to Woodstock ;) just changed the oil for the second time there this weekend :)
Because hood struts eventually fail and don't last that long now if they gave life time guarantee on the struts wouldent be bad, the hood prop will last a lifetime you might as well leave it on there too so when the gas shocks fail you can prop it up,lol nothing like working under the hood and the strut randomly fails and the hood comes down on your head lol i like hood props i feel safe under the hood 🔴🇺🇸🔧👍
Thanks for the shout out!!!!! I'm inspired to head out in the country and try not to ditch dive!!!! Also not sure what happened but all of a sudden BMR went from 3wks wait on my shock mounts to being shipped? Not sure if you had anything to do with that but double thanks if so I can't wait to get them in....
It is FUNNY, Zander 13 installs long tube catless e85 O2 sensor modified headers and full suspension mods on garage floor...THEN does hood struts...LOL...not to mention the 10x nose piece removal.....haha... he is going hardest to easiest like us old geezers on a spark plug change....lol...
I can't wait till you get back to track!!!!!
Btw sorry for the 3 down thumbs that was for recommending me LOL
🤘 BMR struggles to get their parts out fast these days. It’s because the demand is so high. Partially my fault lol
❤blue collar daily!
I need to to this on my 18GT....maybe my next modd🤔... That looks way better. 😎🤘👍👌🍺
The mounting slots are right there in the bonnet pressing. Hard to figure out why Ford wouldn't use bonnet struts, except for cost obviously. What's it gonna cost Ford to add struts though? Maybe $20-$30 at factory price?
If Ford had these on Mustangs the price would go up another 1000 $ .
Lol true
Nice video and a must mod!
Thanks
I wonder if these struts reduce the hood shake on the highway I noticed recently.
About friggin time. Like with our buddy Stangmode and removing his rear spoiler. That mod allowed him to run sub 11s now you to can run sub 11s with the pro prod mod. L O L
Lol I need a drag pack
Just got the same pair for mine! I also got that LEGO mustang and that’s some expensive fan mail!
😎
I've used both MMD and Ford Performance hood struts, favouring the latter. They specify torque settings for the nut which attaches the bracket to the fender. If you torque these to spec, they will not come loose. Well, mine have never come loose. Hey, saw Stangmode get into the 10s.
I need those hood struts also...
! DEFFF would like to see a build video of the Lego Mustang
About damn time, lol. My first mod.
Better late than never I guess
awesome...i need to do this to my 2018 gt. thanks for the vid! ps, please do a follow-up and let us know how they are doing.
Zander 13; The hood struts look great, I tried the Ford Performance struts on my 19 . They looked good but when I went to shut the hood is where the issue came in . As I closed the hood the back corners of the hood tried to lift . So I pulled them off and sent them back to American Muscle. Saturdays weather is looking good so far will you be at the track ?
💯 I will be there all day
@@Zander13Productions cool I'm looking for something to do myself. If nothing comes up, a day at the track sounds great .
BULLITT 40 I have the ford performance ones as well and the hood doesn’t fit flush like it does without the struts. I’ll see if CJ pony parts could swap them out with a different brand.
First mod for me was my hood struts
FINALLY
Never understood why Ford didn’t do this. I guess just follow the dollar.
prop rod never fails.
Great install I agree they should come that way from factory, awesome install like always 👍😍🤩❤️😎✅
This was my first mod last year on my 16 v6. Since you installed your own headers, yes I can see how you would find it boring. 😆
Very nice. Very informative.
Car videos would be so much better w/ rock n roll playing in the background but Legal BS impacts that YT 💰
(Dave from Chicago)
Yep. Damn copyrights
If I play it myself but it's a cover does that count?
Ford uses the props on most vehicles. It's a pain in the butt and can be dangerous if not used correctly. Hoods are heavy when they fall on your head. Thanks for sharing your install.
@zander13 Also time to get rid of the milk jug at the front of your engine bay.
Oh yes
Must be a american thing the Australia delivered s550 has hood struts mmm same a our s550 coyote states 10 40 oil not 5 20 water
Really. I’m jealous lol
From the information that I have gathered from my Ford dealership is it's a spec Ford usa had to do for Aus and UK rhd platform it's only a single like the Shelby but still better than prop rod.
GT500😍😍😍
My hood alignment got messed up when I installed the Redline on mine for some reason :(
Yeah never understand why Ford hasn't added hood struts especially on their performance cars. Nice easy mod!
I wish you would of made this video a while ago. I installed some but my hood wouldn’t line up so i returned them
How about to remove the insulating mat under the hood? Could be better in case of heat diversion and you hear the sound of the V8 even better outside! ;-)
Don't put it in the trash lol..you never know you might need it..
I have a collection of them lol. Still have the one from my 18
Ha! Figures
We all know why Ford does Cheep stupid things. It's totally a bean counter thing ! In 69 Ford would sell you a 428 SCJ 4.30 gear drag pack 4 speed car with NO tach ! AND a cast iron intake just so you could have an extra 100 LBS in the front of your Mach 1 ! Why ? The stupid bean counters.....BTW love the stripes, kinda fixes the hood..
I wish my carbon fiber hood wasn't so light or I would put hood struts on it like all my other Mustangs.
Zander bro your slacking I was hoping u would beat stangmode to 10s man u let us down lol
About time, lol that was literally my first mod
☺️💪
I have the Ford Performance ones, have been great so far!
Mopar has hood struts, just sayin’
Yep 💪
First
🙏🙏💪💪💪💪😎
👍😎👏
