  • Kyle shows how easy it is for a car reviewer to experience any Tesla - sure it's just for a short time over a weekend, but it could be a great way to familiarize yourself with the constant updates Tesla is doing with their cars.

    Our 2017 X 5 seater has B-pillar vents. I guess that’s another thing that went away over time.
    The FWDs work great with dog crates. We only have one dog now but we used to have two; a 75 lb Ridgeback and a 47 lb boxer. Each had their own crate and they fit side by side just behind the front seats with the back seat folded down. It was easy to open the FWD, open the crate door, and have the dog jump in or out. I put a blanket under the crate with the end hanging out so the dogs don’t scratch the paint getting in or out. The blanket easily flips up next to the crate prior to closing the door. We kind of roll the leash and poop bag container in that blanket so they are handy when getting the dog out.

      I have a '19 M3P, and have also owned an older '15 P90D with Insane+. IMO, in comparing the two vehicles directly, the 3 is the better car. It's more comfortable, built better, and the steering wheel is the perfect size for me. The diameter of the Model S steering wheel felt like a truck steering wheel it was so large. The 3 is so much more fun and nimble, and even though it's a bit more jumpy of the highway, it's still extremely comfortable.

    • @johny1220
      @johny1220 7 місяців тому

      @@zmarko yeah I noticed that as well with the wheel, I wanted to try driving with the yoke but they didn’t have an S available that had it. Even the round steering wheel though, was covering a good chunk of the main 17” screen which I did not like. Like you said, the 3 is the better car, especially since they sell more of them, and now the refreshed variant is only better..

    We’ll I ordered the exact spec your dad did on 9/4. No VIN as of 10/11. How much you want to bet Dave gets his before me? A year ago Kyle said the iX (only 9 more miles of range not 40) was the value option over the MX. Would you agree that now it’s the other way around? I’ve never thought the MX/S were $100k+ cars, but people were willing to pay that much. I thought if/when MS was in the $70’s I’d pull the trigger. Never thought the MX would be less expensive so with reduced price + Tax credit + referral code + free Ultra Red, I think it’s now an incredible deal in low $70’s. Hope to have one soon. Always love the content.

    I 100% agree with Alyssa. Though I have to admit, the Falcon Wing Doors are nice when I'm loading 3 dog crates. I can more easily load the front crates from the side, compared to my girlfriends SUV with conventional doors. But I'd still prefer conventional doors. And then I could have a roof rack...which I really could use. I had a 2016 MX and I also agree about the front doors. Darned annoying.
    I've also done a few road trips with 3 or 4 dogs while pulling a camper. Even did one from Wisconsin, through UP Michigan, which was a challenge because charging is sparse in the area. No issue without the camper, but one segment went from 100% charge and arrived with 8%, going 5 miles below the speed limit.

    R1S Dual Motor/Large pack at $84k is probably the better buy over the MX if size is important. Older teenagers and average adults can fit in the 3rd row of the R1S. MX is too tight except for children and not full size SUV.

      R1S

    • @kevinandabbie
      @kevinandabbie 7 місяців тому +1

      Depends on your use cases. MX is more efficient & has Supercharger network access. MX 3rd row has really good 3rd row legroom but headroom is a little more limited.
      R1S is much bigger, less efficient, slower charging, & stuck with Electrify America for a while still. As far as I've seen, they haven't been able to fix the overheat problems with DC fast charging. The lower efficiency means you have to charge longer & a little slower on road trips. But you have a more typical SUV style wth more cargo space. 3rd row legroom is more restricted than MX but more headroom.
      Technology, though, is an easy win for Tesla. Best navigation system, best fast charging route planning, best AV system (integrated Spotify, Tunein, Apple music, etc), no lag in the infotainment system, & the best software updates.

    • @kevinandabbie
      @kevinandabbie 7 місяців тому +1

      I should add if you're putting a cage in the back, that won't fit behind the MX 3rd row up. Not sure if it will fit in the R1S, but the rear gate is certainly more upright.

  • @godofdun
    @godofdun 7 місяців тому +1

    I can see why they're reducing the price on this so much. Outside of the charging network this doesn't offer as much as the competition. I understand that competitors might be a little more, but that's the only other thing it's got going for it and people that are in a financial position to afford an 80k car likely won't find 85 or 90 much of a stretch.

    When were ultrasonic sensors removed -- hasn't it been more than a year? I can't imagine trying to park in tight spots or get out of a parking space in a busy parking lot without the ability to have ultrasonic sensors in the front/back to help avoid obstacles, people, and other vehicles. Speaking of stupid things to remove: the turn signal stalks... Really? Instead of updating the design, they're concentrating on de- contenting the vehicles.

    For the record, there are NOT an abundance of Tesla Service Centers in Colorado. There are plenty on the Front Range (the I-25 corridor), but outside of the major population centers of Loveland South through CO Springs, there are none.
