This one that you reviewed is my favorite! Cz it's the only "Tudor" and not a poor man's Rolex.
Not a fan of the P01. From Tudor it has to be the Black Bay Bronze. Love the look and the fit.
You know i am a indie kinda guy but Tudor made some great watches like this P01 and the BB58 which i am lucky to own both 🤗.

Although the watch was originally designed for the navy, it's not a divers watch. It's a "Missions" watch. Meant to keep track of hours and not minutes. The bezel is also a "GMT" Bezel which allows for 2nd time zone. (Also used for missions). Hope this helps clear up the dial a bit. Amazing watch.

On the wrist it really is comfortable and looks amazing. One of the few tool watches I wear which grabs attention. The history makes this a potential classic. I tend to go for the quirky pieces and this ticks a lot of boxes for me. Great review by the way, balanced and less ‘Tudor Black Bay fanboyish’.

The hour bezel is a mission time, military application. H-hour (amphibious operations). For amphibious operations, the time the first assault elements are scheduled to touch down on the beach, or a landing zone, and in some cases the commencement of countermine breaching operations

And the bezel can be used for a 2nd time zone in addition to Hourly amphibious missions. Although designed for the Navy, it was never meant to be used as primary a diver.

Just picked one up about a week ago and love it. It’s robust, masculine & has a very nice dial with the faux patina. It’s comfortable and hugs my 7” wrist as well as my RM, yes an RM & P01 in the same collection. It doesn’t always have to be expensive, this piece is just cool and has a military feel. If you like scotch, cigars and not taking any crap from people you’ll likely like this reference. The in-house movement is better than just about any in this price point, hell, they throw eta movements (or worse) in watches costing 2-3 times what the P01 will set you back ⚡️

I like that it has its own identity. It isn’t an explorer or any other style of Rolex like some other watches we know… Just saying. This is a watch that has to be seen in person. I hated it in pictures online. I loved it on my wrist in the real life person.
I think it has an hours bezel because this watch isn't a diver. It's an explorer or mountain(eering)/climbing type of watch hence the locking mechanism on the bezel to prevent deviation.
As for the watch, I love it. The only thing I would have redesign is the lug width. It needs to be wider to give the watch a muscular look with a wider strap.

@@SwissWatchGang Oh, I have no doubt that it was intended as a diver watch when it was conceived back then for the purpose of military use. But I think that then-managing director of TUDOR Davide Cerrato (Who's now the managing director of MontBlanc watches) had the vision of reintroducing or rather repurposing the P01 as a mountaineering watch.

Definitely the case shape needed some getting used to and has grown on me. The hour bezel is for tracking a second time zone I think. Jlc master ultra thin next?
JLC is next yes, a model from that line.
Don't let the pictures fool you. This is the simplest and most useful GMT travel watch I use as a pilot. 2nd Time zone stays in place!👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽

Why a 12 hour bezel? I am not sure, ... but as a traveler and not a diver, I can say that the 12 hour bezel is a perfect second time zone function without the extra GMT complication requirements. I wish there were more 12 hour bezel options.
Tudor is like the underdog of the watch world. Would love to see more such brands on the channel. Tbh I prefer Tudor and omega over Rolex, any day. I like watches that celebrate the art of making watches rather that just trying to make a business out of it.
Well they all start the same, some prevail and switch to a money making machine but I bet every brand would trade places with Rolex. :)

First!
Anyway, this one strangely is my most favorite watch from them though... Have you check out the #tudorbastardo from @misterenthusiast yet? 😂
Anyway, I think why they put the crown on 4 because it's more comfortable to use as the crown doesn't digging in into the wrist. And why an hour marker compared to diving bezel, because it's more useful, I guess? Same as the seamaster 300 James Bond edition that has hour marker than diving bezel in the standard one. You could track dual time on a glance, and I personally like it than the "useless" diving bezel.
My complaint on it is that the bezel etching isn't that deep, which makes the the ink isn't as "attached" to it, which why I could see bubbles even on that triangle marker and at 9 marker on the bezel, reminds me of the cheap Tissot which has the same kind shallow etching bezel and I could see that those paint would came off in 1.5-2 years span and would be quite a nightmare to restore the paint on the etchings. I bet it would came off in two or three times after being washed in elma cleaning machine.

Like the bezel lock, as a diver I can see how normal bezels could move in military duty. I have no idea why they put hours on the bezel makes no sense for a diving watch and it doesn't have a GMT feature either. Also leather strap on a diver watch makes no sense either.
All good points haha, a bracelet or other fabric would make sense!

Yes, the joke is that this Tudor looks like an SKX due to the crown and general shape of the case. I personally like it and good to see a big brand taking some risks. Take care 👍

Looks like Seiko diver and an original Ex2 made babies. Fan of the Rolex Sub. Hate the Hulk and Blues renditions. For this reason, I have never been a fan of Black Bay. THIS ONE, however, is a unique diversion. Was looking at the North Flag but this might be might first Tudor.
This one is super unique accross all divers so I'd definitely give it a try :)

Swiss Watch Gang I did, came very close to buying it. Then I remembered the Heuer Monaco. I love that watch too, but I never pulled the trigger as it's not a very wearable watch (large and thick). Those 2 watches would just sit pretty on my nightstand but wouldn't get much wrist time, unfortunately.
@@Fanzyify I can relate to the Monaco because of its boxed shape, the Tudor fits my wrist nicely though but it's very personal how u like to wear the watches.

I am not a fan of this design. This looks like a poor homage of a seiko SKX, and there is a chance that the P01 design actually may have been influenced by 4o'clock seiko divers in the 1960s!
Well everybody is somehow using a feature of somebody else. Personally I think the crown-position isn^t a big issue for me.
It's closer to the Seiko Monster . I like my BB's and this one is growing on me( probably because I love the Seiko design ) . It maybe a future collectible..
That's one ugly watch.. however, great brand and I am sure it will be collectors item because the unpopularity of it. For me the best tudor is the current black bay. In house movement and tomorrow they are going to release the new time piece to the black bay range. Apparently a blue bezel and blue dial.. keep your eyes peeled for tomorrow. Great review as always Marko. P01 is a Good tool watch but its just not for me.
Thank you for watching! I own the Bucherer bronze blue so I think the new one is nice and necessary in Tudors offering but not something I'd need currently myself. For the price I think it's still a great buy.
I have the bronze and the black bay GMT. They are remarkable watches for the price point. Its unrivaled at the price point. I have also sport rolexs and can honestly say the tudor fits better than the rolex on my wrist. The quality of he tudor is as good as its sister brand.
