    Love this watch for its uniqueness and characters. I was also very skeptical when it first came out, but I totally changed my mind when saw it in person and tried on a wrist. It is sort of feeling “call for adventure” when you take it on. It isn’t boring and it is not that often established brands like Tudor invest into something they know won’t be hyper popular. Thanks Tudor for bringing this in to the market

    Just bought one of these today, absolutely stunning watch and an instant classic. I'm thankful for the undeserved hatred from black bay fifty eight guys who were butthurt they didn't get an affordable submariner, as otherwise the P01 would be impossible to find.

  • @mannixj5186
    @mannixj5186 3 роки тому +1

    Love your content, you own some great pieces. This particular watch evokes all kind of thinking which hopfully I can touch base with as follows
    P01 or Prototype 1 is the envisionment of the original "commando" commissioned by US navy - this was back in the 60's I believe - it was never produced! For me it's neither diver nor sailor, the bezel is marked in 12 increments which in itself ( if you pardon the pun) is divisive to many. That aside, it still appeals from aesthetic point of view, its more in tune with Tudor' s ideology of, 'Born To Dare'- more so than the hugely successful Black Bay line, particularly the 58. I'm puzzled why an option of only leather/rubber strap is available, after all everything about it shouts the sea! I've seen pictures of mods where bracelets have been adapted, they just transform the watch to whole new level!
    It would tend to agree, it will probably have a short run, the speculators will be watching closely as they next 'wanna buy' eventually. For me, as strange as it seems, I believe Tudor took some cue from Rolex 1655 - its subtle in effect but intentional? I'm not sure. Famously known as the Steve McQueen (with no evidence of his having one), 1655 is extremely desirable. The P01 is a standalone design and true to Tudors ethos, with revenues driven by homages to the vintage Rolex aesthetic nowadays. Does Tudor have something to shout - yes I certainly think so, I hope there's more to come

    I’ve always liked this watch and been intrigued. Your metaphor is spot on. Only contention I have is the size for my wrist and secondly as a proper tool diver the leather strap is impractical considering the depth rating. And like you mentioned switching it to a bracelet would make it a brick on the wrist

    It’s actually okay looking, nothing spectacular but not as ugly as many seem to think. I like the bezel latch mechanism. It seems to have that satisfying mechanical crispness to it. But my favorite part of it, is actually the strap! Very handsome looking with the thick brown leather and rubber and that great satin finished clasp. I’d like that strap on a Black Bay ‘58...the original one with the matte black gilt dial and red bezel triangle. Still easily my favorite Tudor and one of my favorite watches overall.

Those who say it’s copying Seikos SKX couldn’t be further from the truth because the similarity starts & ends at the the 4pm crown. I know, I have both watches and I can confirm that they couldn’t be more different. Although both pieces to me are special in their own ways.

    Honestly, not expecting this one (more thinking on the Pelagos). However, it makes sense since this watch is the most original/one-of-a-kind in the current Tudor lineup. In addition, it seems quite possible that this model will be (more sooner than later) discontinued, which makes it a potential "horological rarity" (wise move, as always). Not my cup of tea, but the watch seems to be well built and has a great movement (long power reserve, important in a watch rotation + great accuracy). As usual, great content making this gloomy saturady morning (at least here, in the Basque Country) nicer. Greetings from the Basque Country
