We are so excited to share with you Janet Jackson's style and fashions from her upcoming auction at Julien's Auction House in Beverly Hills. This icon is putting up her most famous stage costumes and personal wardrobe starting from the begining of her career until now. So if you are fan you'll enjoy seeing costumes from her Rhythm Nation tour, Velvet Rope Tour, and her most recent tour Metamorphosis. Doris get personal details about the artist and her pieces from CEO Martin Nolan who takes her through some of the most iconic looks. There are gowns from Atelier Versace, Alexander McQueen, and Norma Kamali and costumes designed by David Cardona, Robert Behar, Wayne Scot Lukas, and LSO Designs.The extordinary visions of all these designer fused with Janet's career is incredible and something to admire.

I went to the Janet world tour as a teenager when she came to Minneapolis in the 90's. I still have my ticket stub and the newspaper review article from the next morning showing her crouched down in that awesome white costume with the bone detailing. I've been to many concerts in my life, but her shows have always been elevated to a level that no other artist could even come close to. The choreography, sets and costumes. I even remember feeling the heat on my face from the pyrotechnics. Just a phenomenal experience!
Wow David. Wish I could say the same. To see these beautifully constructed garments in action on HER! And to see the choreography and hear the music. Total sensory overload. Thanks for sharing your memory!

There is this gorgeous Atelier Versace Dress from the 90s, it is from Giannis Bondage collection that he made for Janet. It is such a gorgeous piece.

This was a really lovely video. And unexpected. I had no idea about this. I absolutely adore her style and visuals from The Velvet Rope/Anti-Apartheid era. Got till it's gone and Together Again are really special to me, so it was really nice to see these. At the same time it seems such a shame for them to be sold. But they're no good being stored away either, so it's a good thing. Thank you Doris!

Her wardrobe really is so special. Looking through her various eras in style its apparent how Lady Gaga pulled inspiration for her Monster Ball tour outfits. A lot of those were Armani custom for Gaga if I'm not mistaken. Although taboo i wish there had been more mention of her jewelry choices like her key earring and her metal breast pastie piercing worn during the super bowl. It may have been a low in the career but undoubtedly a fashion misstep she and Justin will be remembered for. Another artist that borrows from Janet is Rihanna- that green fun fur Isaac Mizrahi'esque screams Rihanna's BBHMM Billboard award performance. That silver outfit is so reminiscent of britneys early 2000s nude bedazzled suit she wore under a mens tailored suit for the stage. She has really set a precedent for what does and doesn't work for stage. Come to think of of it Beyonce wore bejeweled nipple coverings on metal/ chain metal looking corsets. For her previous tours in the late 2010- 2015 era. Her only equaled trailblazing contemporary in that field as far as fashion goes would probably be Cher.
I loved the presentation. I thought it was fascinating and so interesting to see the detail everything considered in designing for each tour. Amazing!

the rhythm Nation items are the things that are going to be the highest and the most valuable now and long-term in my opinion.
And the econo quite suit that she wore to,and then the outfits with the video with Michael those are going to be the items I think that go the highest I can't wait to see.

If the info I looked up is right, Janet and I share the same shoe size!! I’d love to get my hands on the McQueen and Dior ones!! And that McQueen jacket was amazing. I really loved seeing her at a McQueen store opening wearing a spectacular dress from his spring 2008 collection. It was a pink to purple ombré kimono style dress. If could own that dress, it would be a dream come true.
The auction started today so if you’re in a position to bid online- go for it. This is literally once in a lifetime. She had incredible taste! I had to hold myself back from drooling.

Hi Vanessa. Thanks for your comment. I guess it all depends on your definition of vintage. To me, the pieces from the last 1-10! years generally speaking I consider second hand. Vintage in clothing represents an era or period and the 1990s and 2000s definitely fall into that description. A lot of her pieces were pre-2011. But I can certainly appreciate your point of view. Either way- it was a remarkable collection of fantastic pieces.

I am just starting to watch the video but I expect to see a lot of "by Gaultier" since she wore so many outfits by JPG. EDIT: I've been browsing through the auction on Julien's and I can't believe how many Gaultier items are presented as "no labels" whereas they are iconic of Gaultier's creations and shows!
