Please halston next!!!! The series open the curiosity of us 🙌
Yes! I binged the series and am now fascinated by his mark on the fashion industry. Doris’s research we know will fill in the gaps.
Yes and he is a powerful American fashion Icon, it would be lovely to see his early stuff especially!
I'm ALWAYS excited to see a new video posted. I love learning from Doris.
Fab as ever Doris and team 💜 Bravo Ms. Jackson 🌟
Never thought of Janet Jackson as a fashion ICON, but I am a convert. Great information. Thank you.
Wow you’re spot on all the pieces you pulled for Janet, very much for her style.
Love the men’s jacket and the pinstripe piece, particularly. You’re getting stronger each day, Doris!
I am Shaun. Still dealing with my stamina and a little work still to be done in my short term memory. But I am still standing and I am very grateful. Hope you are well. Thanks so much!
Doris
I'm happy Janet Jackson's closet clear out was beyond expectations. Beautiful iconic designs.
She is indeed a fashion icon.
The "show off" dress was stunning! Thank you for sharing these items.
Good lord I love that red bondage dress. 🥺so beautiful.
Wow . Saw your preview and the auction results are amazing . Love this follow up of things reminiscent of her style . Truly appreciate your style , expertise and passion . Can we imagine an auction of this kind for Madonna? Her amazing and iconic tour wardrobes and video and other performance pieces . Always jaw dropping and eye catching and she brought many designers into the mainstream like Dolce & Gabbana and Jean Paul-Gaultier and helped send their careers on a trajectory . Look forward to more great work from you Doris . Thank you from Australia x
Dearest Doris!!! So glad you were able to see the Auction collection of Janet Jackson's at Julians. I was honored to be part of the design team to put it all together. I knew you were going to view it and go crazy for all the beautiful pieces! . I will be back in the Fall to be part of the team for the Amy Winehouse Auction! Stay tunes. Chase Connery!

So great to see such a great turnout at Janet's auction. I love your man's jacket. Hoping it's on your website. I would love to buy it to wear if it's my size. Stunning Janet gown that you have! May I request a show of magazine worn, screen worn wardrobe movie or tv props? Doris, you are looking very healthy and always so very beautiful!

Doris - You and your videos always inspire me.
🖤🖤🖤
That means a lot to me Matthew. That’s the whole reason I wanted to do these so it pleases me to know I’ve touched you in that way.
Many thanks for sending me this comment!
Doris
Thanks Doris!! Sending you good vibes for your steady recovery.
OMG!! That show-off gown that Janet Jackson actually wore in Hollywood Life is an absolute STUNNER. I would wear it today!
I always think of Janet Jackson as a great singer, but looking at her fashion I can see that her title of fashion icon is well-deserved. That showoff was the best yet! The gown is so beautifully constructed yet so classic. While it should be treated with deference and care, theoretically it could be worn on the red carpet tomorrow with few people guessing its true age. Just as with real life celebrities? 😉
Looking good Doris, you are amazing also!
Much LOVE from Berlin, you got a huge fan over here:) sending speedy healing vibes for your recovery, looking forward to many more videos of yours - sharing your profound knowledge with us! xoxo Gigi
Hi Gigi! Thank you foe your very kind and heartfelt comment. I appreciate your appreciation and hope we will be able to continue to put out content that you find interesting.

I learn so very much from you.
I love these videos.
You are my new inspiration Doris! I recently found your show on Paramount +! Hope to visit the store soon since we’re neighbors! But I may not want to leave! ❤️
Hope you're doing Well Doris. Love you❤️😊
It's so good to see you looking so healthy. I always wondered why L.A. didn't have a museum similar to the costume institute at the Met. For most of the 20th century the movies were the foremost influence in what people wore. Some of these creations are truly pieces of art. In the 80's they used to open up the old Western Costume company on Melrose and I was there every Halloween to rent some fantastic ensemble that I now wished I would have kept. i suppose these iconic pieces going to private collectors insures their maintenance but people would more readily come and see these item from our collective history than what's in the Getty. Thanks for all you do
Hi Michael. Thanks for your appreciation and interest!
We actually do have an amazing fashion and textile department at the LA County Museum of Art (LACMA). We also have the museum at FIDM. I wish I was around in LA in the 70s and 80s to have experienced Western Coatume and the de-accessioning of pieces- including the ruby red slippers. So many stories and perhaps some of them are urban myths.
Anyway I wanted to acknowledge your comment and thanks for your kind words. I am definitely in the mend. You take care.
Doris
@@thewaywewore7371 Greetings, I guess I meant some sort of free standing facility with a name on it that left no doubt as to the fashion inside. Not just some adjunct gallery. Of course with you as curator.Haven't been back to LA in 30 years, hope to soon, your shop definitely a stop. Cheers.
Love ❤️ your videos, not because I like Janet Jackson’s style which is too “showy” for my taste but it is a wonderful lesson about fashion history.
Hi Silvia. Thanks for your comment. Thank goodness we all have different tastes, styles and likes!! I appreciate your openness to learn about things that aren’t your personal “cup of tea”.
Thanks for your interest!
Doris
I don't care what website I'm on, when I get notification you have a new listing, I immediately go there.
Amazing amazing
Hello Dolly or Doris rather haha I have missed the show, I have been really ill so I have episodes to catch up on, which makes me so happy! Those Ralph Lauren stiletto Oxford's are just lovely and the kimono both are my eccentric/eclectic taste, hopefully I can shop soon.
I'd love to see more of the famous outfits that have been used in print. It would be absolutely fascinating!! Glad to see you doing well. Cheers!
Oh no Ziggy😱! I hope you are well now. So sorry to read you have been really ill. That stinks.
Still making the videos but not as often. My stamina is not as high as it was in the past and I just have to listen to my body. I hope you’re doing the same.
Please take care. Sending you food, positive thoughts.
Doris
love the junyas, dirk and ungaro. and the tabard-y pinstripe look! just wow. like a black ocean 🖤 maybe ur next ep could be on mr. watanabe or m. emmanuel? =]
We’ve missed you!
💜💜💜
Love your presentation and eye for fashion! Is the Janet piece at the end for sale?
Hi Heather. Thank you for your kind words. I haven’t really thought about selling that dress. Do you want to make me an offer I can consider?
💖💖💖💖💖
I knew I recognized that bondage dress from the Ebony Fashion Fair. Were you able to obtain anything from the auction that was held a few years ago?
❤️
🥰
The Janet Jackson dress from the photo shoot, who designed it?
Hi Stephen. I actually replied to your comment yesterday but I don’t see it so please forgive me if this is a repeat performance.
If you’re asking about the Janet Jackson dress that’s mine that was used in a photo shoot, it does not have a label. That’s the white dress with the cut out and the beading - a stained glass kind of pattern. If I’m mistaken please let me know which dress you’re referring to. I have the catalog so I can look it up for you.
Thanks for your interest!
Doris
I'm curious what size Janet was. I know she was tiny back int he day.
Not sure but I would guess around a US 2.
❤MJForAllTime❤
I feel Soo dum😭I jus wanna learnitAll
I learn so much from doing these videos so happy you’ve joined us for the ride!!
Doris
Hi Doris, our Queen, I hope you are well, X. Would you consider doing a show on Claire McCardell?
Hi Jane. Whoa! Too kind bit I’m just another vintage lover.
I love that suggestion and I actually have a few pieces worthy of an episode. I’d probably do a McCardell/Cashin combo. How are you familiar with McCardell?
Can’t sleep…. It’s 3 am here. Thanks for your interest and for taking the time to write.
Doris
@@thewaywewore7371 Doris! Don't be modest! You are who you are...haha, seriously though your knowledge and collections are brillant and it is so generous of you to share. I have an interest in fashion from the early 20th century for lots of reasons, my Nan and her sisters were of that age and loved fashion and were a big influence on my Mother and I. I grew up making clothes and collecting vintage, some of them were Tailoresses and made and remade garments, something learned through the war I guess, we sold second hand on a very old market in the UK when I was very young, my first job, I loved it, but it was only when I bought a book called "The American Look " by Rebecca Arnold I realised how much I had been influenced by them and her. My first baby clothes were sent over from New York by relatives who had emigrated to work on the railways, I think to Chicago originally, from Ireland. At least that is the original connection, my Nan's sisters had stayed in touch and a few had gone over to visit...I have just looked at Bonnie Cashin's designs on Pinterest and can also see her influence, amazing and so timeless, my look is based on these women's designs, I think subconciously it has been bred in. I love that generation of women. Sorry for rambling...X
Don’t apologize Jane. What a great back story. My influence was
My mom and my Uncle Ferro who became a very successful clothing designer in Palm Beach in the early 60s! He was only 21!! I also have an aunt that was trained as a couturier in Paris. I wasn’t that close to her but it still rubbed off on me. I started making my clothes around 1970 - in high school - because we were struggling financially. But in the end- look at how in impacted my life! I am blessed including the struggles.
I’ll see if I can do the McCardell/Cashin episode in the next few weeks. I greatly appreciate the suggestion and your time!
❤️Doris
@@thewaywewore7371 Thank you so much for replying to me Doris, Honestly, I absolutely adore you, it has been great watching the shows through lockdown and like all of us on here I have really appreciated it, and it does take me back, which is great. When I grew up in the north of England the city was the poorest in Europe and we lived in secondhand and stuff we made ourselves but it was glorious really because we had so much to work with, it developed a lot of unique style and an appreciation for fabrics and cut. I would not change it for the world...so many characters, I did needlework at school in the early eighties and we had a few industrial machines at home and around so we all got into it...the economy let us down so lots of people moved to the south, myself included to make some money. I still sell clothes on Ebay, just nearly new, as a little hobby really and to augment any new purchases and was doing a good trade especially to the French and your fellow Americans but Covid put pay to that, anyway, so wonderful being in touch with you, God Bless Doris, same here, sleeping is difficult, we have a heatwave at the moment and the Pandemic is completely disorientating everyone, including the mask wearing, hopefully we are on our way out of it, my husband has just asked me if I'd like to go for tea at the Ritz, it must be cheap because we haven't got the tourists, haha, have to get one of my best frocks out, X
You sound like such a lovely person Jane. Lots of experience and content. Wish you were closer. If you have any of the pieces you upcycled years ago- please email them to me. I’d love to see your hand work.
I need to go to sleep now to make up for last night. So happy your reached out. ❤️
Doris
💕💞💕💞💕💞💕💞💕💕💞💕💞💕💞💕
that white dress looks so blah ont he mannequin but looks fab on janet in the picture...
I completely agree with you.
Doris
Beyoncé bought several pieces.
Really?
Hi Antonio. How did you find that tasty morsel of information? Pray tell!
Doris
🏳️🌈exciting 🧕🏿😍👌🏾😝😇
Will you do a video about Halston? I just finished the Netflix series, I'd love to hear what you have to say about it.
Hi there.
I wanted to do a video about Halston but with all the hubbub about him now- we’ve actually sold most of our great examples so an episode would lack the store visuals we like to include. If I can find a few more that’s “affordable”- I definitely want to do an episode on him.
Thanks for your interest!
