Dane great score on the Great Dane.I started with G.D. in the 70's I use to go to Georgia to pick up trailers and worked on them for many years then became Parts Mgr. So you did it again with the memories.👍👍

Wayne (Ol2Stroker here on UA-cam) had recently bought a 1984 stainless steel Great Dane reefer trailer that sat at a friend's property and was used as a storage unit for 10 years.
He had said in the last video that he had posted that the trailer was in surprisingly good shape as all of the doors & door hinges are hard to to find replacement parts for as alot of them had either rotted out from sitting out in the elements for 20 to 30 years,or they were scavenged for parts for other classic Great Dane 40' reefer trailer restpration projects to then be put back to work hauling perishable goods.
Him and his friend James had gotten all of the origional incandescant lights to work;and none of the dry rotted tires had blown out on the long drive back to upstate New York.
I'm already deep in getting all the lights to work/replacing wiring. It'll take time but It'll be worth it. What a coincidence we both find one lol.
That Astro and that stainless Great Dane Look GREAT together! I am jealous!!!

I loved seeing the old Thermo King. My Dad was a refer man for a company out of Altoona,Pa. He had a side gig rebuilding those compressors in his basement workshop. Thanks for the memories

Our local trucking company ran Great Danes and old school Fruehauf trailers until they closed their doors in '99. The best part of having the reefer is air conditioning at the truck shows! Awesome score!

Break! Break! How about ya Dane you got a copy ? That is a nice Great Dane Trailer with that vintage Thermo King Reefer. I use to pull quite a few box trailers that were Great Dane's back in the day pretty stout trailers💪💪💪, & the last 8.5 years of my driving career I pulled newer trailers that were 53' that were T/K reefer's with a 100 gallon tank ; Man those were so sweet to pull in the snow with all that weight toward the front of the trailer sitting on top of the fifth wheel it was really hard to get stuck in one of those. It was nice to see Sarge.We'll catch ya on the flip side 10-4! I'm a going 10-10.Oh! & it was nice see Blue Jay working even if you were dead heading.

Dane, I used to haul axles to Great Danes plant in Savannah, Ga in the seventies and they were known for building some of the strongest trailers made. Owner operators pulling the stainless ones were the class of the highway. Keep that great content coming. PS, Hi Colombo- Bill(Ill bet it wouldn't take much to get that reefer engine running, looking at you, Mr Wizzard, haha)

@@DaneScottsTRUCKERSLOUNGE Yes you are right, Dane. Those good old days for Owner Operators sometimes were very exciting, especiallywhen a rare, once in a lifetime haul would pop up. In the mid seventies, I got called at the motel in Detroit in the middle of the night (in the winter) and had to rush over to Fords Rouge Plant and pick up one Lincoln Continental frame and drive straight through to Lincoln Assembly in MahWah, Nj I got there before noon the next day, and they immediately sent the yard jockey back with my trailer to be unloaded. The receiver told me they had to have that frame because the factory had mis stamped the serial numbers n the first one. Those were the days. On a Monday morning, in Michigan, our lot would look like it was full of BluJays(Astros) Grasshopper is really coming on strong.
Grasshopper is coming along very nicely. You will soon have a choice of cabovers to put in front of the fancy reefer.

I always preferred the utility to the newer 2000s great Danes because they were 1200 lbs heavier than the utility which was problematic in Oxnard California when loading Bananas at the Del Monte docks

O-H-I-O Porter greetings 🇺🇸 How much is your speedometer off? I’m glad you showed the speed app. That is one shiny reefer! Not only a shiny hiny, but also a shiny door on the side! How long was that thing sitting? Those ruts weren’t too bad & the trailer came out rather easily? That’s the way I like it. Did you have someone follow behind you as well? I’ve done that quite a few times with an older trailer & also took a light bar in case we couldn’t get the lights to work right. I imagine by now, the KW is further along. I like the way they cut the frame…quite smooth & at an angle. Good stuff! Hope to see more of it. Blessings my friend! Got an early day tomorrow. 🥰😎✌️
It actually reads 5mph faster than you’re actually going. Trailer sat about 10 years. Needs some fab work but not bad at all. 😬👍

At least ten years. I have fabrication to do on the landing gear and the rear door surround but the rest is fine.
Dane, there is a 50 or 60s tractor and trailer sitting in a field in Middlefield. I do not know any thing about it but It does not look in too bad of shape.

That’s Great… Dane, i just started to recreate that great dane model in 3D and now you have it and showed a few shots of that rare to find pictures of that tk reefer unit! May I ask what tk model is that one exact’y and is that a 45 ´ trailer? Love this trailer cannot wait to have replicated in 3D and soon runing on ATS Game too!

I never liked bobtailing too dangerous I had two spin outs in my career bobtailing is not even leagle more than 5 miles we were told that in driving school
