      There are battery connections that need to be made for the amplifier illustrated in the video. If you have excessive noise, be sure the radio is flashed and your using the Amp Tuning Guide here: rftech.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1355

    If I’m only running the 2 fairing speaker do I set the channel to 2 or leave it on 4?

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  3 роки тому

      Great question! Since this system gets all 4 channels of audio signal from the radio, you can keep it in 4-channel input. This way, if you ever add rear bag-lids, you don't need to adjust the switch. Keeping it in 4-channel input (only the front channels are connected to speakers) does not hurt anything.

    where do the amp output plugs go?

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  2 роки тому

      6:50 shows where I'm plugging the front/rear speakers to the amplifier's output connectors. I'm plugging them directly into the amplifier outputs, but you can also use the black Y-Adaptors. Simply plug one Y-Adaptor into each of the amplifier outputs ... plug the front harness into one of the front outputs from the Y-Adaptor and the rear harness into one of the Y-Adaptor rear outputs. This will give you room to add front lowers and/or rear saddlebag speakers in the future.

    I know that i am late to this party. But i just spent the money and let someone know what to do to do the work. I have a 2017 ultra limited four speaker system. Some days i have one or two radio stations that are has static. Some days it dont. It is clear sound. But i have to cut it more than half to get a good sound. • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  4 роки тому +2

      Great Question Kris! Yes, the kit comes with a 4-channel amplifier, so you simply would add the TMS69BL14 saddlebag kit when you're ready. Literally nothing on this kit would need to be reconfigured or changed to add the saddlebags at a later time.

    The bolt that was removed when running the power wire, why was it removed what’s it for?

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  3 роки тому

      Could you specify at what timecode you're referring to? These are the 2 I'm showing in the installation:
      • 0:55 - removing the battery negative
      • 4:12 - use a 9/16 wrench & socket to remove the plastic retaining bracket that holds the existing harness. You'll route the amp B+/GND harness through this plastic retaining bracket, so it holds both the factory harness and our new amp B+/GND harness.

    • @paigeandbaileycampbell6968
      @paigeandbaileycampbell6968 3 роки тому

      @@rockfordfosgate right at 4:24 the retaining bracket do you re install the bolt after you run the wire?

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  3 роки тому

      @@paigeandbaileycampbell6968 Yes, absolutely! This holds your forks in place and should be tightened securely! I only show removing this because you can't get our B+/GND/REM connector through the plastic retaining bracket. If you don't feel comfortable removing the bolt to access the plastic bracket, then disconnect the (red B+/black GND/blue REM) from the connector, making it easier for the wires to get through the retaining bracket. If you already removed the bolt:
      1) Route the wire through the plastic retaining bracket.
      2) Route the harness through the forks up to the amplifier location.
      3) Replace the plastic retaining bracket on the bolt and replace the nut to secure everything in place.

    Do the 2021's require a different type of cable to reflash the radio?

    • @rockfordfosgate

    After install, I have a static or white noise, even at no volume. I assume this is a ground issue somewhere. Any helpful advice where to start? In addition to the amp being hooked up to the battery terminals, I also have a connection for my light kit. Should they all not be connected using the same bolts for positive and negative?

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  3 роки тому

      (1) I would immediately start by disconnecting the light kit since that can cause noise in the line. (2) Disconnect the inputs to the amplifier. Use the RCA input harness that was supplied with the amp and cut the 4-pin connector off. Make a shorting plug by twisting the (+) and(-) together for the left channel and doing the same for the right channel. Move the input switch to 2-CH and turn the system on. There should be no noise. If you are having noise, I'd contact our technical support because you'll have a lot of things to check from here on out. They can be reached at 1-800-669-9899 Mon-Fri 8am - 5pm MST.

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  4 роки тому

      Thanks for your feedback Michael, the Female BLUE/WHITE is the "Amp Turn On" that is used with a DSR1 signal processor. You'll connect the BLUE wire attached to your amplifier's power harness and connect into this female BLUE/WHITE wire instead of the motorcycle's factory connector.

    Lame. Nothing in it about tuning the amp or what settings to use. 👎

    • @rockfordfosgate
      @rockfordfosgate  2 роки тому

      At 5:38 we explain "We offer this FREE amp tuning guide that's available in the description of this video and this kit's product details page". The link in this video description goes here: www.rockfordfosgate.com/rnt/rnw/docs/1355/harleyamptuning_2014_rfk-hd14.pdf
      Why do we do this? Because the amp settings are subject to change based on possible updates to the Harley-Davidson radio software, which is out of our control. So, if the software forces us to make changes to the tuning guide, we don't have to trash an entire video.
