Thanks for the video! I looked up the RF specs a while back on their website and it didn’t make sense that it was called an 800x4! You confirmed my thinking and disappointment, as a true 800x4 would be amazing from RF.
It’s cool they upgraded and did great job on water proofing. Still don’t trust when companies start playing the numbers game. But kudos to them for updating.
M5 amplifiers are the first series based on the new industry standard, Dynamic Power ratings, bringing their conservative ratings to the forefront. Engineered from the ground up and purpose-built to deliver more output where you actually hear it (your music). This is real dynamic power that performs not only on paper, but performance heard through the musical experience. You’ll see two amplifier power ratings, the traditional Continuous Power output, and the new Dynamic Power output, both tested in accordance with the CTA-2006 specification.Dynamic Power is real-world wattage when connected to a speaker load, listening to music. Continuous (RMS) Power is wattage developed on the test bench for comparison against other amplifiers in the same class
You can't compare 400w RMS rating against the new 800w Continuous rating expecting the 800w unit to have 400w more watts. You need to understand the difference between the 2 ratings. They aren't comparable. Thanks for testing the new amp. Great info.
You are 100% corrector Sir. Carlos should have caught that before he ever did this video. Now 90% of his clients are going to be miss informed because they will not do their own homework.
It is rated at 800 watts with four 2 ohm speakers. Also, doubling the power does not double the volume. It is logarithmic. To double the volume you need to increase power by 10. To double the volume of a 400 watt amp you need to go to 4000 watts.
Not quite that excessive you could get away with 1000watts to double the sound (not the decibels) if you're looking to double the decibels you're estimate would be closer to correct.
Thank you very much for this video I'm hoping maybe you can help me I'm trying to figure out the difference between that HD Rockford amp and the M5 800 Rockford amp. I'll be put in this in my Harley Road Glide and trying to decide between the two different amps
I'm really hoping that you can help me with this the Rockford Fosgate stage 3 installed in my Road Glide. But I'm not real happy with the sound. I really believe that it could sound better than it does are you able to tell me what the settings on the amp should be I don't think I have them right. yes it has been flashed
Love your Videos! 💯 Hi Carlos I have installed this with the new Harley speakers powered by Rockford Fosgate ....do you think it's worth it to add the DSR1?...thank you!
Great review Carlos! One quick question if you don’t mind,,, How do you wire this amp for two channel bridged mode? There are no wiring diagrams in the “manual” that comes with the amp. Thanks for all that you do. Hoping to have this hooked up and driving some Ground Zero yellow baskets tomorrow :)
I have one of these m5 800x4 on two audio legion mr8n how much do you think i am actually getting to these bridged and just right under clipping. since the rms is 250 on the mr8n speakers, do you think i am safe?
I used to run the pbr400x2, and am currently running pbr400x4d, though have Infinity kappa(2 6.5", 2 6"x9"). I think it sounds great, though my 6x9 have a small rip after a year, and aren't water proof, so I've been contemplating upgrading, because I only get the 100w power channel Werth 2 ohm.
@@frankhubbardiv8711 yeah I took the kickers out the fairing and put the hertz SV165.1 200 rims $200 paur or the memphis SR mids are $120 pair on amazon
If the 400 is clipping, it'll chew up tweeters. Maybe the 800 (which is closer to 600 RMS) would have enough head room to avoid clipping at the same volume and save your tweeters.
I'm sure you've seen the videos, if not I'd be surprised being you're an audio installer/enthusiast. However, I know that Steve Meade has been working w/ D'Amore Engineering here & there. He, as well as a few other UA-camrs, are testing amps w/ D'Amore's Amp Dyno AD-1, which tests certified, uncertified, & dynamic power rating tests. Meade & D'Amore have specified that Dynamic Power ratings are what the amp is seeing when playing live music, but this is NOT a reliable way to compare amps. Only certified tests should be used. If I remember correctly, the certified test is to 1% distortion & uncertified is to clipping. None of this explains the 9xx watts on the birth sheet though. Steve Meade's video, where he tested the SounDigital EVOX2 3000.1 on the D'Amore AD-1: - ua-cam.com/video/DtoiMPxQMpQ/v-deo.html
They are calling it an 800-watt amplifier because of where its rated bridged on its sine test. 400 x 2 = 800. It is not 200 x 4 (800) as a 4-channel unbridged amp. It’s marketing smoke in that sense.
In terms of rail voltage, 39.7v vs 40.1v is not a 10% difference. The difference is only 0.5v. A 10% increase from the original 39.7 is 43.67, which is a total difference-increase of 3.97v. This is the same amp, just waterproofed with a wack birth sheet.
I recently switched out a 400 watt amp for a 800 watt amp and they were " NOT " easily changed out. the wiring harness was different and I had to take the 400 watt amp out of the saddlebag and install the new one in the fairing over the stereo and I had to change the wiring harness...
good morning swapping from the Rockford Fosgate TM400X4AD to the "800 watt " m5 is 100 percent plug and play. same harness same plugs , everything . it sounds like you upgraded the factory Harley Davidson Rockford amp that comes in the saddle bag from factory to the Rockford m5 800 watt amp. that is a completely different story and a huge job to do.
How can you say you don’t know how they fit that much power into the similar package you know the answer better electronics !!! sounds digital does it all the time getting smaller and smaller with there amps!!! sounds like you’re trying to be biased towards sound digital !
Rockford has turned into a more show and no go company!👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼 At the end of the day their inflated specs are just more lies. Keep pushing the better Sound Digital Amps! Definitely more bang for the buck!

Thank you for making these videos Carlos. They are invaluable.

You’re the best Carlos. Thanks for your videos 👍🏼
Rockford needs to put you on the payroll to do tests on NEW products BEFORE the release!!!!
As always..Great job 👏
Carlos, you are the man, thanks for helpful insight as well as the reviews
I’d like to see you test the new Rockford saddlebag bass speakers I’m quite curious
Can we get a Beyma vs euphoria 8xl video?

How does it compare to the new sound digital 800.4 evops. Saw pricing was in par but curious about power. Thx
I see you already reviewed EVOX. Thanks for the info .
I have this amplifier. Should I buy more powerful speakers? Hertz? As opposed to the RF speakers

Hi Carlos man I love your work but I have a question how do you fit Evo's in the front on a 2013 cvo roadglide?
Love your Videos! 💯
Hi Carlos I have installed this with the new Harley speakers powered by Rockford Fosgate ....do you think it's worth it to add the DSR1?...thank you!
So bottom line. For 4 speakers only. Front and bags only how does it sound. Looking to have you put a system in my RG. Ty.
Could I rock the M5 with only 2 6.5 jL audio M6 series ?
Evo x 800.4 all the way.

Have you or will you ever do any Indian motorcycle audio upgrades?
Thoughts on the PBR 400x4d?
Question: is there a small 5 channel amp with all channels being full range, with integrated crossovers for all channels that you like?
Can you use that in a car?

Wjat would u run evo 400.4 or Rockford pbr300 with 4 kicker ks speakers ?

Do you know anything about SOUND DIGITAL amps?
What do you think of the Rockford fosgate M5-1500x5, do you think it would be a better option than this M5-800.4?

I've got a Timpano amp that's more powerful than the RF.
Which timpano amp you got? I’m thinking of getting the tpt1400 eq to push two 8 inch Forte neo’s
You can’t really see the same size because when you put those sealed connections on each end, the amplifier grows another couple inches
