Hi Patricia, thanks for the comment. You are either pushing or pulling, that's the only reason the fabric will wave. It can be tricky but I suggest slowing down as the rug gets bigger. Hi there. I made my first rug on Sunday (live) & it has ruffled up. Is that me doing something wrong? Also do I need a walking foot with these or is it not necessary. Thank you for your video, I’m getting tips already & I’m at the start 😊
Hello! Thanks for leaving a comment. I a sad you are having a hard time with curling up. You are either pushing or pulling the fabric as it sews. This is the only reason it will curl. So tear it back to where the curling starts and press the fabric. Let it cool completely and then start again. Also if you did roll the fabric into a ball like yarn you may have troubles. I am not sure where that came from but it trains the fabric to be twisted and often you leave it in a ball for a week or more and that doesn't help! I have lots of videos on this channel about the rugs, live sewing included. Try watching some of those as I have learned more over the years as well. You've got this!!! If I can get it you can too! Jolene ~ Home Stitchery Decor
@@homestitcherydecor5598 Thank you so much for your reply. I will definitely not roll next time. So do you think a walking foot would be benefiting for this project? I have seen loads use them but I have never used one myself.
@mimirayscraftycorner1058 oh sorry I forgot to answer that part my bad! I don’t use a walking foot personally I know that some people find it helpful. I say try it out both ways and pick the one you like that may not be super helpful but I have made over 1000 rugs and never used it.

Hello! Thanks for being here and participating in the comments. For each strip of rug you are looking at just over 1 yard of batting. Most fabrics are 34-44 inches in length before you sewn them on the diagonal. So you loose a couple inches of length in that process. 40 inches is 1.11 yards. Here is a link to get some batting. They have different lengths available and you can buy multiple packs of precut batting depending on how many strips you want your rug to be. The rugs are addictive - once you get them sewing flat you will likely make more then one so you may be able to save money and just save the roll for your next rug. Jolene ~ Home Stitchery Decor.
