The difference in quality between Okocha and his teammates is shocking.
i know man.
that would be true of most teams. He was playing for my team though, Hull City who were a Championship side (Div 2) when this League Cup game was played
Hahaha🤣
@@temitopeadeusi4756 I only just found out he played for them
Very shocking indeed!
This guy is one of the most underrated footballers in history
Yea, that's because he always unnecessarily held on too long with the ball. Very talented, but not efficient
I don't agree, this match shows a lot of him passing and distributing ball in a crazy manner. Hazard hold on to ball, holding on to ball attract opponent and that will give chance for other players to be free whenever they receive the ball
@@afolabiblessing5970 Your analysis is very spot on. Unfortunately, Okocha lost possession more than half of the time he tried dribbling. The art of bribbling is useful when defenders close in on you and you have no avenue to pass the ball. Okocha always opted to dribble even when his team mates were perfectly positioned to receive a pass from him. Check Ronaldinho's game, the man simply knew when to hold on to the ball, when to pass and when to showboat. That's what I call efficiency
@@godschampion7569 Very true. You have really studied his game.
Simple way his African that is way his underrated.
There seems to be an ovation anytime he touches the ball. A real football entertainer
JAY JAY is highly rated in the premier league. But I think he was so unlucky in his career. Undoubtedly he is a legend. We love him.
How is he a legend . Let's be real . Amazing dribbler and fun to watch but never that great
He played for the wrong team
@@Dah2291 he came to the premier league late in his footballing career probably 10 years too late.
He is a legend. One of the best to ever play football
@@Dah2291 He's a legend. One of the things that work against him is playing for smaller team
for me the fact that he still stood out even while playing poor teams is proof that we was truly great...some players only shine when they play for big teams only.
Imagine him playing for barca or real or united
If you want to speak about C Ronaldo, do that directly
Don't go through the corners my friend 😂
His techniques are ridiculous. Passing, first touch, ability to change direction randomly and at varying speed, even long range shooting. He's got everything
A special player
I'd agree apart from his passing. I think while his passing could be accurate he often picks the wrong pass and even in this game he put alot of his team mates in needlessly tricky situations. The chipped pass over a defender put his own player in a position were he could only run down the wing. Predictable play made by the wrong pass. JJays downfall was he was more interested in being flashy than foing the basics well which I think is the reason he didn't become a truly great player. He never got picked up by a big club because of this.
@@robertpirsig5011 He didn't take the game serious enough.
@@robertpirsig5011 he had everything in his game and a great in passing in any direction.
Wow what an amazing player he was
To think he was already over 34 years and in the twilight of his career and had retired from international football when he played this match is simply amazing
The only problem of his career is that he played With low class players that some doesn’t even deserve to play football 😌 well his a legend anytime anyday 💯❤️
U got it right 100% ad perfect.....
You know right
He was member of one of the strongest super Eagles squads to ever play for Nigera. He won the African nations cup and the Olympics with Nigeria.
Like Campo, Gardner, Hierro😃😃

Dude was too talented!!!
To have mentored Ronaldinho at a point in his career, you sure must have been damn fvckin’ talented and it shows…
See the confidence, the fluidity and effortless flow, what a beauty!🥺
He was so good his parents had to name him twice. Jay Jay
The joke didn't bang.. dead joke
@@gglodz5343 Clearly you're too young to remember that this joke DID bang.

Bad joke tho
🤣🤣🤣🤣👍❤🌹
In my eyes all I see is okocha vs Chelsea
This group of players actually got us to the Premier league so we did have a quality team
The ovation he receives comes from both his team supporters and that of the opposition team. A true legend of the game.
😂😂🤣🥰😍😍😍😇🤞
always sad to see how okocha played with guys that were way below his football class. its like messi having to play in a team without xavi, iniesta, ronaldinho etc.
He was playing a side which was in the championship what you expect
@@jacobgarner05 How does what you say affect the guys original statement exactly?
@@Coxy_Wrecked it's a perfectly appropriate response if you give it just a bit of thought. Either it shows Okocha was being overrated at this point in his career, or he had issues with ambition and wanted to take it too easily rather than applying himself as a professional should. There are lots of comments on here belittling his teammates while Okocha failed basic passes and shots, or gave the ball away with embarrassingly poor flicks. And these are the highlights...
@@TSx92 *Either it shows Okocha was being overrated at this point in his career, or he had issues with ambition and wanted to take it too easily rather than applying himself as a professional should*
You began your comment under the pretence of offering a balanced view of Okocha then go on to show your obvious disdain for his abilities.....
* while Okocha failed basic passes and shots, or gave the ball away with embarrassingly poor flicks*
That doesn't describe the Okocha i and many others watched.
You must really hate the guy with a passion if thats your description of Okocha.
@@Coxy_Wrecked ... yet you begin by quoting me before immediately following it up with your own words put in my mouth. He was a very talented man but there was nothing great enough in this video to justify so many silly comments from people who probably never even watched him in a full game.
You just watched him blast a shot so far off target it was veering closer to the corner flag than the corner, and a back heel that didn't go to anyone. Or did you just close your eyes and ignore that part before attempting to judge my thoughts on the performance? There is nothing to hate about Okocha; that's a very juvenile, fanboy-ish way of thinking, as if you feel personally attacked. And unless you are a juvenile, please reply; I really want to hear more of your unbiased, unironic expertise on me and human psychology in general...
To think that Jay Jay did all the magic in this match at the twilight of his career.
Imagine what he did at his peak!
Any other games from that season?
He was injured for most of that season so he played very few complete games
@@oluwaponlekudehinbu3100 his playing style would leave anyone injured. He was talented but not efficient.

Fun Man to watch on the pitch anyday anytime ❤️🇳🇬
The beauty of it all is that him playing for such a team compare to his class without complaining or shouting at his fellow players shows a legend he was.. Not like this generation of players that almost fight their players for missing just a pass. Am just seeing a leader not a player ⚽⚽⚽
That's because Jay Jay saw football as a passion he loves doing even though he is not paid much for it... He does the magic freely.. Imagine how Chelsea was leading from 1 nil till 4 nil, he kept on doing his thing without tension.. And he was a magic doing those stuffs... The most skillful player africa ever produced.
Okosha is the big legend of the world ..thanks okosha from ALGERIA arabic 🔥🇩🇿♥️🔥
I think okocha played for big clubs cos fernerberche is a champion league regular, in psg den he was an Africa record signing; big money signing, but later on he had to sit on the bench and that are some of the sacrifices playing in a big club , he needed regular football play cos he is an endowned player, not like some players who prefer to sit on d bench of big clubs, so he went to Bolton a moderate club then, played regularly, captain them, and raise the club level and profile then, I believe that maybe his own purpose, to me he is a great footballer and better than those who sit on the bench of big clubs, cos he saw it also, a record signing then for psg
@Ufot Ekere Psg could not pay his fees, they had financial issues
Jay jay vision is unmatched even at this day. Great passing ability. He could make a great pass out of nothing. Phenomenal!! 🔥🔥♥️💙
There can only be one Jay Jay Okocha.
The king of football
Jay Jay the most complete footballer of all times. Watching you is like watching an artist carving out a masterpiece. You made football an art. Unlike the robots we have today.
You are the greatest.
I bet it is now very obvious to anyone that the great Okocha was very unlucky not to have good strikers and forwards to convert all the amazing he created with his skills, in all the teams he played except for Nigeria maybe. Which is one of the main reasons why he did not get the recognition he deserved on the world stage, as the lengendary player he truly was. Anyway, thank God he is still recognized as the best trickster and best dribbling wizard that ever played professional football. Long live Okocha.
This man was really something unbelievable how he easily got past opponents still awes me, the elegance slickness smoothness gat danng!!! what a talent no wonder Ronaldinho's games improved a lot while he was at PSG. Thank you Jay Jay Okocha

Damn 2007, just like yesterday.
Its actually unfortunate and crazy when you’ve don your own job, do the dribble, lay the passes, cross the ball, yet your team mates let you down and perform below average all the time…

One of my all time favorite players.Amazaing player he was. Sooo underrated but sooo skillfull. The best african player ever. Was outstanding in all the teams he played for. I watched his whole career and he allways entertained you. The man who brought us the step over trick many thought was brazilian Ronaldos. Did it first in 96 Olympic and then Ronaldo and the rest copied it after. We will never se a player like him ever.
He actually started that trick way before '96. You can see him do it here against Italy in '94 (it wasn't as refined though): ua-cam.com/video/3jGC9lQPHsA/v-deo.html

Had Okocha played in bigger clubs.... He's such a rare gem in football.
with skillful the same level what Ronaldinho and Djalminha. Only he needed better statistics
Looking at the strikers in this match, he was never gonna get better stats
who is Djalminha
Am impressed that you know Djalminha! He was one of my football idols growing up.
@@blackhokage1744, look him up here on UA-cam. He was amazing but stubborn hence he rarely got the attention he deserves.
Djalminha really use to have fun on the pitch...
From the day he retired from the national team, the super eagle's of Nigeria became a shadow of it's self & no one has ever been able to replace him
Most people didn't know he brought Hull city to the PL
Personally I think he could have been an all time great if he learned to distribute the ball better. Very few players had his control of the ball which buys you more time. The more time you have on the ball the more you can pick a good pass. But I think he was a little too focused on showmanship. I still loved watching him play just I really think he could have made more use of his talent by picking a pass at the right time. It's a skill and takes time to develop but he had all day on the ball in which to develop it. If he had of he could have been so much more effective. But alas not to be.
It's not that.. Okocha can play very serious if he wants.. but he can also be fun with the ball.. then african players were not very much rated. If Okocha was a Brazilian, he would have been nominated for uefa player of the year every year and he would have played for barca or Madrid. He was that good.. but he played with mostly average players through out his football career
@@okaformaxwell1388 I disagree, im not saying he didn't play seriously. I think he did. But he didn't play for big clubs because he simply wasn't effective enough. As I have already said his play was more about making a fool of a player than to actually win. This does not make a great player. Zidane was a player who could influence a game by sheer control but he knew how to pass. Okocha did not and that's a big difference. Nothing to do with being serious. Okocha didn't understand that his game was limited. Had he known he may have improved.
@@robertpirsig5011 you are so good bro.
Okocha was super, but the time spent on the ball was shocking.
Think of Drogba, he was never good at all.
But since he realized his weakness, we all know what he always came up with even at last minute of the game, Didier Drogba.
@@okaformaxwell1388 no bro, that "if" is what makes us even weakest.
Okocha had one great mistake, "his time on the ball" wasn't favorable for a team willing to win.
Count all the misses after everyone of his good passing.
You could read the disappointment not becauseother players didn'tmanage the passes, but for me "it'sthe time the pass was released".
I played football number one advice the coach insisted us to only "joke the ball unless you are secure" meaning when you are winning.
You hit the nail right on the head. The truth that many of his fans do not accept. Skills accompanied by drive and thrust forward to win and produce results. That's Ronaldinho for you.
Poor Okocha having to play with inferior players. At least Okocha still entertained the fans.
Everyone was inferior.....

I love Jay Jay okocha
If Okocha had the opportunity to play for these top clubs in the premiership ,I think they would have had his statue there by now... The guy was talented
I see most people say he is underrated but to be fair Okocha he was playing football to enjoy himself and his fan who love most skills rather than impact of a team,,,,Am the one who questioned Okocha ability to create chances of goals by starting in National team
Nice one jay jay
2:33 holy christ, what a pass,. Jay jay literally got the entire Chelsea team sweating like pigs in this game.
4:23 hahahahaha
Let's call him a football motivator.#our legend.
Even when he moved to Hull to end his career, he was good enough for Madrid.
He's still our best till date🙅
As a watched this video i noticed some things
1: Okocha was way above his teammates level by a long margin
2: He was controlling the game
3: They could not cooperate with him
Remember...okocha n ronaldinho 🥶🔥💯
I think Jay Jay played for lesser teams just to display how good he is.. There's no how Chelsea wouldn't have wanted to sign him..
Legend!
If Jay Jay Okocha had been there at some point where CHELSEA would have wanted a bigger signing for the Willian position when Chelsea were bouncing back from the 2 years embargo. They were the only club who could afford 200M+ signings bcoz of the 2 yrs cash saved. Jay Jay Okocha would have been long signed and you could imagine all those trophies being won by Chelsea would include him being a huge part of the team. He would be one of the greatest without thinking about it in the EPL and maybe the world among the like of Ronnie, Zidane, Ronaldo9 and Rivaldo.

He's one of the players who were legendary but luck wasn't on their sides in terms of achievements (both individual and team) and playing for big clubs. Jay Jay is African most skillful player ever. Of course Abedi is the favorite when compared to Okocha even with just the playing of the ball but when it comes to showboating, I mean freestyling on the professional pitch, Jay Jay Okocha is a god.
Am a Nigerian and Jay Jay okocha is probably our best ever....I noticed in the video he dribbled needlessly, most times his dribbles didn't achieve anything,
Thank you for being objective. Could that be one reason the giants like United, Arsenal, City and Chelsea did not go for him?
Jay Jay Okocha was a skillful footballer. To me, he played his best football in Germany with Frankfurt, Fernabache in Turkey and PSG in France. The rest was more of entertainment and fun. The thrust forward and aggression towards goal like Ronaldinho was no longer there. One the greats to come out of Africa.
4:15 I don't what he did man is just pure class👀😳❤️
God told him to play for Hull City..... So the big man is a Tigers supporter!!
One of the worst things that happened in football is that big teams never came for Okocha after PSG, this guy was singlehandedly dealing with teams, I watched a video of him vs Manchester United players, he made Scholes and Co look like academy boys.. I wonder if Nigeria will ever produce another player like him
