I dont think football can go back to this ever it was special. All those games between Barca and Chelsea epic. A young Messi showing his skills added to the mix
Well, Milan's old defense line was as good as this, maybe even better... Not only the starting 4 (Tassotti, Costacturta, Baresi, Maldini) were phenomenal. The substitutes were also great: Galli and Panucci deputised in 94 UCL Final and played great football against the Dream Team
I was at that game, Matthew Harding Upper, and Ronaldinho's goal was a worldie. It came out of the blue. Unbelievable. Great game, great memories, thanks Roman...
I remember this match, there were great players back then. I especially liked long-range strikes the most. Ronaldinho scored a beautiful goal, I still remember that goal.
Mourinho's counterattacking football was a surprise to Barcelona as they couldn't handle the wingers and Lampard being the third man in the box. Brilliant match!
I was born in 1995 and started cheering for Chelsea in 2007 And of course in 2005 I didn't watch this Chelsea match Then I just learned that the referee for this match is Pierluigi Collina He's a legend and I love his honesty. With respect from Thailand 🇹🇭
4:58 The most phenomenal goal from Ronaldinho....he just dancing in front of Carvalho then he shot till Petr Cech just watch the goal....What a legend...
@@BluesFanUK_ listen I hear you, that is in fact the case, but you still have to find a way to make it happen. You were arguably the second best team in Europe behind Milan throughout 04-06, you had to find a way to at least make a final
This match should be shown over and over to the present lot of under achievers to show what a true Chelsea committed team can do. Best of the best. Thanks Roman and Jose.
Barca may have got back into this tie and ultimately robbed with the controversial Terry deciding goal but they had no excuses for such a bad start to this 2nd leg to do exactly what they did 5 years earlier at Stamford bridge and go 3-0 down on the night early on. They only just managed the unlikely comeback in 1999/00 but you can't keep giving yourself mountain's to climb.
I still remember this day. I was in a hurry to come home to watch this match and when I opened the TV it was already 3-0 ! Gudjohnsen, Lampard and Duff on the screen .I was so excited but also with some frustration to have missed the opening goals ! But then I was shocked after having conceded 2 goals before HT. And we spent most of the 2nd half in frustration only to be saved by our captain to send us to the QF.
When Chelsea were 3-2 up, they were losing the tie because it was (3-3) & they got those 2 away goals. This was a incredible match which was shown on ITV back in the days. Chelsea came out all guns blazing. 3-0 in 20 mins. It was crazy game nonetheless.
If i were a chelsea coach i always open this match and the 2006 match with barca before every match. To show the standard of chelsea. These players are not footballers they r warriors. Nothing is given to u bro u took it everything from everybody even its from lions jaw. Respect 2024.
@@alfredoLaliga It's a common tactic due to the anti-Barcelona propaganda not to remember anything that had to do with injustice against Barcelona. Just as nobody talks about bad calls against Barcelona in the ''controversial'' second leg vs Milan in 2006 and in the first leg against Chelsea in 2009 nobody talks about that particular Terry goal either
Terry's goal should not have stand - Valdes was clearly held, prevented from making a save still, four years later referees made sure Barcelone went though to the final....
Great game, but how on Earth did Collina fail to blow the whistle for Chelsea’s fourth? It was a clear foul on Valdes, from my point of view. I guess the tables turned some years later, when Barca progressed with that goal from Iniesta.
unforgetable great childhood moment
+ Collina as the ref, this game was legendary
Prime Mourinho, Peak Ronaldinho. Best defense line in history vs the most attacking team in recent memory. Classic.
