My favorite part about this song is the addition of the male voice in the chorus. It's not louder than the female voice, but rather adds a somber touch to the song. I've always thought of this song as Lawrence and Holo singing on their wagon

Its an soft r (IPA: /ɾ/) its a combination of both /r/ and /l/ sounds that can with some practice be transposed to a relatively more western sound. its hard for them tho.

Sadly, I don't think we'll get a third season, at least not on the story between Lawrence and Holo. Probably a story around Miyuri and Col, still though it's not really finished and there are very few source material. I still hope for it too xD

@@Eterrath the new op is more Of a love song. It still has a similar vibe, but it’s more melancholic and hopeful in the same time.
While this is a song about loneliness, and about the travelers. It’s less melancholic and more depressed. It’s still hopeful for what’s to come on the road ahead, and is a very beautiful metaphor for life.
And you can feel the sadness of Holo knowing she will see the end of Lawrence’s journey, while she will still walk her for decades to come.

For someone who loves clinging to her love so much, I can't imagine the literal void she'd feel after that person dies. Absolutely the best OP for an anime and plays a massive role on the emotions of the viewer going into an episode for the first season. The waltz like 6/4 time signature that resolves to a lower key, creates an atmosphere of melancholy with grace, while still being energized and playful thanks to it being faster than a normal 3/4 waltz. The song’s composition and lyrics do any amazing job hinting at the drama in the second season and tells the viewer the viewer that this show should be taken seriously.
I really hope the new OP does a good job explaining the atmosphere of the show since it can’t be understated how much heavy lifting this OP did for setting the mood of the show.
This song is super underrated on a compositional level. It also wonderfully translates onto fingerstyle guitar. Its amazing how time signatures and rhythmic feel can let people use minor keys and still sound up beat and energetic.

Ah, I remember finding out about this series back in an a magazine...It's amazing how each take of the series (the manga, light novel, and anime) all stand out as their own in a way. It's such a beautiful series and I am so excited for it to be back once more. No matter what though this original opening will forever remain with me. It's such a beautiful and fitting song.

I reckon it's difficult to 100% accurately translate from asian languages to English, especially when poetry/lyricism is involved. What's off about the lyrics?

it was translated, keeping the meaning, to:
Yes, ever since i met you - In this road.
the "deatte kara" was actually the "ever since i met you", but they swapped with the road part to sound more natural.... the final meaning is the same, but it can look weird if you just look part-by-part
I loved the anime, and the manga even more so, it's a beautiful piece of work, and this song is a perfect representation of it. I've been listening to this song for a few years now and I've not once gotten tired of it. I hear it at least once a month, and it makes me happy every single time.

@@KaneyoriHK I also love it but the differences are very annoying according to me. I don't get why the directors of an anime choose to go a different path than the source material.
I haven't read the entire manga yet. I've been on volume 68 for about a year now. I lost interest when I found so many animes to watch, but I'm gonna start back up again now.
@@unogazzy84 There's a few reasons, the authors themselves sometimes say to take a different approach as with Tokyo Ghoul season 2, but also it's due to budgeting and time constraints. Sure we'd all like to have something accurate to the books, but for a studio, it can be difficult to get all that in there without running late or out of budget. They have to reduce things down, cut out parts, rearrange things, because animators are expensive.
It's not that a director doesn't want to, but they and the studio have to keep track of trends and how successful a show is, as well as the time they have and their budget. Not to mention the actual authors of the original works get their own input unless whatever it is was bought. They have a ton of things to manage.
So it's not exactly by choice and we really shouldn't complain too much since it's literally out of their hands. The goal is to try and do good enough, something that resembles the actual original.
In some cases, like with AOT, the goal was not just to animate the story, but to improve it and they damn well did cause they had the time and money to do so. There's a reason some big name shows have so much filler and that's to make up for lost time so that they can get the main story bits ready.
