I have installed many of your heat pumps with convential systems and Unico high velocity, why is it when they start up in AC mode they always come on in heat mode, I talked to your tech at Bosch and all they said is that's how they work , when all other brands don't do this, can someone tell me a detailed explanation for this ty Tony

If I heard that correctly that the system can operate at a -23* capability, and never shuts off? Does it use electric strips at backup? With today's technology we should be looking at a hp that doesn't use electric strips and use the capability of just the hp to run and heat the home or building. Great info thanks for sharing.

That is correct my friend, no auxiliary heat strips. I do prefer to have redundant heating in case you do have HP failure but it could be a variety of heating sources for backup. I prefer gas backup myself of some sort. CB

Thats great sounds good. Ya I like to have a backup plan too, me gas I would go with but everyone is trying to push for all electric these days to get away from any fuels. Like to see a video of this in action in a complete setup.

Imagine your heat loss is 60K, what size outdoor unit do you think will be needed to provide 100% of that 60K at 0°, -7°, -23°?
Now how far down will it modulate when you don't need full capacity for heating?
You DEFINITELY would not need that capacity in cooling!! Again how far down will it modulate?
Finally, how do you produce all this electricity?
Do some research and determine the REAL impact of natural gas on the climate.

Most of the time you need backup anyway due to defrost mode.

@twosawyers surprisingly these newer units are accomplishing defrost in just a few minutes using smart defrost control. After a little consumer education you can get by without supplemental heating. I myself still size with backup redundancy heating whether electric or gas. Why not

5 ton is 60K BTUs and he said 55K. How is it rated, cooling or heating if it is a 5 ton?
Yes, my 3 ton has a 30K compressor in it, so marketing comes into play!!
    100% efficient at 5°F ambient.

So if I want my house at 25 degrees celsius then what is the cost saving over other heating systems on a day to day basis and on the hardware basis please. Stop your backslapping and give us some hard facts.
