However I still find it hard to find the balance between informational content and a fun way to explain it. You do this in a very natural way, which inspired me to make my videos more visual. I cannot understand why Morphine does not work for my pain. I never feel anything but constipation! Palliative NP won’t like that I quit Morphine 15 mg slow release twice a day after just three weeks, but it was useless. When I stopped abruptly nothing bad happened and I did not have a bit of withdrawal symptoms.
It's because 15mg of morphine isn't potent. That's the equivalent to 1 10mg Percocet, usally used for 1 dose for 4 to 6 hours. So when that's stretched out to 12 hours of course it's not going to work that well. That's a dose of mild pain, but they wont tell you that.
PepsiZombie 23 Percocet is pretty potent so your concept of “mild” is a little off. Some people are just naturally resistant to opioids. I am myself and it’s horrible because when I have been severely injured pain meds don’t help unless used in higher doses than Dr will prescribe for me. ESP with the “epidemic” all the Drs are scared. Morphine just gives me migraines and does not work for my pain. But to a person that’s not opioid tolerant 15mg of morphine would knock them on there ass!
It's not working for your pain because 30 mg a day is atrociously low. This is also known as 30 mme, or morphine milligram equivalents. I'm on literally 3x what you are, 90 mme, in oxycodone which is the CDC's recommendation as a threshold for primary care providers though its disseminated into pain doctors too. Morphine's bioavailability is also much poorer so you may try switching to an equianalgesic dose of oxycodone ER (20mg) which may help you far better as oxycodone absorbs over twice more than morphine in the body.
@@ryand4533 Potency only defines how it works at the receptor. It doesn't mean that at any dose level it's just profoundly stronger. He's right that a 10 my oxycodone is equivalent to 15 mg of morphine and this is objectively a mild dose. All potency means is that on a molecule per molecule basis once both morphine and oxycodone are in the central nervous system, they will bind and cause different degrees of intrinsic activity vs how many receptors have been occupied by the dose. This doesn't take into account bioavailbility which dictates how much of the drug actually ends up getting into your bloodstream let alone crosses the blood brain barrier. In this way oxycodone on any dose will be stronger than morphine (BA is 60-87%, morphine's is 20-40%), but not every dose of oxycodone is strong. And no, 15 mg of morphine will not put all naive people "on their ass." There are people that are mighty sensitive to opioids, but most people have a standard degree of tolerability and will easily handle 15mg but be a little drowsy. But also as someone said above this is 15mg over 12 hours, not as an IR dose.
Why cant we choose to use opioids to treat depression instead of toxic harmful drugs like amitriptyline/effexor and other which they dont even know how they work. why is it ok to be addicted to anti depressant but not pain killers if the outcome if is the same but with opiates much safer and less side effects.
I really HATE goolagtube... How bloody hard is it to find videos that talk about opioid resistance for people who are NOT addicts but have genetic issues instead?!
