    Jeff, as always, I am enjoying your honesty and enthusiasm. What I appreciate about your videos is that you aren't afraid to say when you made a mistake. We were filming working on my friends 356 and we had the wrong part and it got so confusing and messed up that we never released it.
    We are going into spring here. I guess your heading into fall. That is so weird to see the opposites. Heidi

      I think people appreciate seeing that not everything runs smoothly.
      As for the weather, we have had rain, every day, for the past 3 weeks. Everything is completely sodden, we have a couple of dry days forecast for next week which is very welcome.

    Poor Mrs Jeff, inside I can just imagine her saying 'stop arsing around with the bloody car and get the house finished!' In the nicest possible way obviously. Somewhere, sometime long ago I'm sure I saw someone use a little rollery thing to squeeze those rubber seals on. Just think, one day your Porsche will live! Keep going mate 👍

    You say it’s tedious. But it’s still fun watching you do it. 👍👍😊

    Hello Jeff, I’ve enjoyed watching your videos over the past years on your Porsche 911. I have a 1974 Porsche 911 I’ve had the engine rebuilt and rebuilt transmission and now I’m needing to replace those rear quarter seal window rubbers but I wish you would’ve really shown the beginning of the process of how you took the windows out And identified where the rubber seals are on the rear quarter windows. Now I just need to finish watching the rear quarter seal portion of the video to see how to put the rubber back in place. Thank you.

    Patina, mate! Patina! Forget the window frames. Just clean them up, and use it. A car needs some history in it, and on it, I reckon. Your car looks great, and it's going to turn plenty of heads.

    • @HomeBuiltByJeff
      @HomeBuiltByJeff  7 років тому +1

      Thanks mate. I have ordered some stuff to try out, because it is actually just the one window frame that was the problem. We will see how it goes. I plan on adding a heap of patina to it soon through a lot of use ;)

    You are great. I wish you were my neighbour. We would have fun. I know a lot about 996. I have gone through my car over the last 11 years. One thing you need to show is how to remove fuel door hinge. I had to break mine. I did have another one to put on so this is why I broke it. I have heard other people breaking theirs to get it off.

    so jeff i see a new vocation as an auto interior craftsman. you seem to love it!
    congrats on getting your engine to the states and look forward to see what you do with the suspension.

    • @HomeBuiltByJeff
      @HomeBuiltByJeff  7 років тому

      Thanks mate. The suspension will be left until the car is on the road, that way I can see what it needs and also be able to feel the upgrades as they happen.

      given the rest of your car i have to believe you have a goal in mind. something you can track day but live with on the street? something that age likely has to be gone through a bit, yes?

    • @HomeBuiltByJeff
      @HomeBuiltByJeff  7 років тому

      Absolutely. I have come across a few upgrades around the place so far. I haven't really looked at what has been done to the suspension. How old it is, etc. All I know is that it sat a lot lower than standard when I got it. I will have to look into it further.

    You need to make Mrs Jeff a skirt out of the left over purple plaid,
    for the christening drive at the end of the series.

    it´s all the little bit´s and bob´s that take time, your doing great. hoping to catch next weeks progress before i fly on vacation, 14 days off harley riding in the us, from next sunday. just keep going seat´s are looking great the i think the problem with leather size is down 2 going from normal seat materiel to leather, it´s needs to be a little bit smaller then before. wenn the front and rear window is in it will look more complet.
    regards

    Best nip/tuck episode ever! ;) It's really coming along Jeff. I've been meaning to ask about the paintwork. Assuming you used two pack paint, what sort of breathing mask setup did you use when spraying? and...would there be anything you would have changed in regards to the setup you used when spraying? Cheers!

    • @HomeBuiltByJeff
      @HomeBuiltByJeff  7 років тому +3

      I used the correct automotive spray painting mask, the same as pretty much every spray painter in Aus'. It has 3 types of filters. 2 different kinds of particle filters and then the chemical filter. It is not worth even thinking about spraying with anything less, you health is far too important.
      The paint was all 2 pack, as acrylic never really comes out very well. Overall I was very happy with the whole painting process. I was a professional airbrush artist for 13 years and as such I worked in at least 100 different professional spray booths, and plenty of them were far worse than mine. If anything, more light in my booth would have made it better, but it was still more than up to the task.

    Again, a couple years late to the party, but: When making clothes on materials with patterns, you fold the fabric in half and match the fabric to itself before cutting your pieces. Then cut through both layers giving a left and right piece. That's how you match the patterns on things like shirt sleeves.

      Thanks Alexei. I have been lucky enough to have a couple of companies contact me, which does help out with all of the work I have been putting in. Ultimately it has to be beneficial for them, so the more you guys support me, the more support I get from sponsors and the better my content can get. I am grateful for all of the support I have received so far, and I intend to keep working harder to improve my content every day.

    Jeff, I have a question for you about the fast motion video. Do you use stop motion, say a frame every 2 seconds to film the fast bits, or do you film at a regular frame rate and speed it up in editing?
    And congrats on your 5000 subs. :)

    • @HomeBuiltByJeff
      @HomeBuiltByJeff  7 років тому

      I just film it normally and then speed it up. I speed it to different rates depending on what I am doing and I also edit down a lot of that so that it just gives you a general overview. Otherwise it would go too long or I would have to speed it up too much that you couldn't see anything.

      Home Built By Jeff . Thanks Jeff, I just started uploading vids to my channel. I'm learning from scratch on the video editing and I'm just trying to get a handle on some editing tips. I need a lot of work on that front...lol. I just learned how to cut and splice. I've done lots of audio editing in the past but I even forgot a lot of that stuff. Some of the stuff that I learned with audio definitely applies to video so I'm catching up rather quickly. I need to film more to get more material to edit. :)

    • @HomeBuiltByJeff
      @HomeBuiltByJeff  7 років тому

      Editing makes the movie. I am just like you, and I am learning as I go. I keep trying to improve all the time. The best bit of advice I can give, is to watch it back yourself, and if you come across something that goes too long, or doesn't sound right, stop, fix it and move on. Then watch it again. Good luck.

    Dont use clearcoats or epoxys on polished aluminium, there are far more better alternatives, and the best out there is Ceramic Pro Strong, You could also use other Ceramic Coatings, fron Cquartz or Carbon Collectives for eample.

    Great work trimming those seats Jeff, you should be able to bring a nice tight fit to the leather with heat but don't got to mad or it will shrink and distort.
