This build should have at least TEN times the views. Maybe 100 x. Jeff, you’re a great watch. I’m watching the Alfa build in real time, but have come back to watch this older stuff. I can’t get enough of your work. Totally enjoying your great explanations and techniques. You’re a mad scientist and I love the way you get things done. Thanks for all of your contributions to the world of how-to.
Jeff, I'll think you'll find yourself leaving the radio off more often than not when you realize how sweet the sound is coming from the back! Love your videos.
I'm so glad this youtube series is going strong. One of my favorite if not THE favorite car project going on youtube. Jeffs attention to detail is amazing and i love the DIY feel of it. Can't wait to see this project finished and the next one started. If jeff ever visited finland, i'd be happy to show him what a V4 engine looks like.
Thanks mate. I really enjoy building things and learning new skills, so getting stuck into every aspect of this car has been a great, fun experience. Making these videos each week helps to keep me motivated to keep going.
Yaay! My favourite rivnut gun used again! Those wierd lights under the dash coming on might be a lack of a good earth or getting power from an old alarm (or other accessory) wiring setup used previously...Those RUF Porches are good..maybe a trip to Germany is on the cards one day? Ya?
We are definitely heading to Germany at some stage in the next few years. I have also had a suggestion that those lights, may be from me wiring up the back of the light switch incorrectly. I will have to do some investigation and find out.
Jeff have you considered doing something with your speaker grilles to make them look more OEM? For example painting them brown, or covering them with brown speaker cloth or fabricating an entirely new grille.
I don't mind the black. It gives the door trims some interest. I could paint them, but then they would scratch and look like crap. Maybe it is something to consider in the future.
jeff that dashboard looks great and i dig your choice of radio as well. normally i'm a strong believer in black mesh but your car pulls off the brightwork look well. glad you mentioned reece as i've subbed to his channel and been missing his updates. btw: maybe a future project could be a holden or ford v8 super car replica?
sorry, that's nearly the limit of my aussie car knowledge. although as a mopar guy one of your chrysler products would be a nice import here. but yeah... anything v8 is cool.
It's amazing how hard it is to properly fit the windscreens in these cars - I think we may have to pull the freshly installed glass in Larry (AMMO NYC)'s 964 to add sealant due to wind noise. You're planning to go without, right? The factory instructions are even less clear for the early cars.
I love Larry's videos, particularly his 964 vids. I have been lazy and I haven't chased it up yet, but I am going to get an genuine rubber for my car. Also one of the tips from the windscreen installer is to install it dry, but then after it's in, he runs a bead of silicone under the outer lip of the rubber where it seals against the car. He also does one on the lower edge, between the rubber and the glass to stop leaks.
Smart - we should see if we can fix it by running a bead without pulling it. His 964 just had a full repaint and looks amazing; you should check it out when you're over here.
I am interested in the rubber edge trim. wondering if you have a link? I would suggest that provide links to items when you mention them, just a thought. It would be helpful. BTW your doing a great job and I am really enjoying your build. I have been thinking of do a similar build myself and found you while searching UA-cam.
That is not a bad idea, it is more that I am not trying to promote any particular supplier. Here is a link to something like what I used. www.ebay.com.au/itm/4M-x-1-5mm-Sharp-Edge-Rubber-Trim-Seal-Strip-U-Shape-Car-Caravan-Boat-Universal-/322118685711?epid=890567160&hash=item4affc5140f:g:CpwAAOSw6btXSrcK
I did think about doing it black, but with the stripes I though it would look weird. I am still seriously thinking about keeping the bulk of it chrome, but painting the stripes over it.
don´t know how hard parts are down under i would have bought new pins and put them on the speaker kabels so no solder, ps on the konstant power it´s know as kl 30 and switched power is kl 15 ,normaly the ground is braun at least on the std. wirring, like the radio look´s nice, does it have a microfon so you can talk and drive legal??? if it does put it near the rear view mirror cause out by the a pillar it would catch wind noise as always keep up the good work what are you doing with the gearbox???
The stereo does have a microphone for the phone. That is a good point putting it in the centre to avoid wind noise. At this stage I am keeping a standard clutch, flywheel and gearbox.
turned out nice as usual! maybe it would look cool if you paint the stripes on over the grille too? it may look really bad tho, but maybe worth looking into :-)
Rain water moisture humidity dust and perhaps some dirt will get in on your engine with that mesh, unless your planning to only driving it in nice weather and never parking it outside for too long.
your attention to detail is great, but i really don't like that the screws are visible on the rear grill. expected a bit more. still love your channel though!
Really. I suppose I could have fabricated something underneath, but I like the nice neat allen head bolts with the cup washers. There is more to come with the rear grill this week anyway ;)
It was supposed to be a joke that I gave up on after too many takes. You are right it is more like 'Rewf'. She was supposed to say Ruff, or Rewf, or Woof ;)
Wow, that is awesome. I went for a much cheaper than factory option, yours is definitely not that. I assume you pulled some favours to get that thing designed and made.

Jeff, I'll think you'll find yourself leaving the radio off more often than not when you realize how sweet the sound is coming from the back! Love your videos.
Quite possibly, it is more because my commute to work is 65km on a freeway, so the constant drone is less sweet. In the twisties, for sure!
I'm so glad this youtube series is going strong. One of my favorite if not THE favorite car project going on youtube.

Beautiful PORSCHE nice job.
The build is looking seriously slick. Keep up the great work.👍
Thanks mate.
I wish I had photos of my first stereo install. Hideous is an understatement, but I had such a good time planning and building it.
We all have to start somewhere ;). It is all part of the fun.
Yaay! My favourite rivnut gun used again! Those wierd lights under the dash coming on might be a lack of a good earth or getting power from an old alarm (or other accessory) wiring setup used previously...Those RUF Porches are good..maybe a trip to Germany is on the cards one day? Ya?

Not sure I would go a Falcadore in the future, but I may do an LS swap into something one day.
sorry, that's nearly the limit of my aussie car knowledge. although as a mopar guy one of your chrysler products would be a nice import here. but yeah... anything v8 is cool.
Dont do a LS swap plz, keep it porsche original. Anyway good job with the build keep it going
May I suggest you paint the orange parts of the boot under the rear grille in a black colour so that they don't show through the mesh?
I was looking at that too. I think there might be a little bit more painting in the mesh area in this weeks episode ;)

Great vids as always Jeff!

awesome video!
you do top notch work!
Thanks mate, appreciated.
Was really thinking that was going to look bad chrome (instead of black) but it looks great!
I did think about doing it black, but with the stripes I though it would look weird. I am still seriously thinking about keeping the bulk of it chrome, but painting the stripes over it.
You were already cool Jeff, but Vanilla Ice, cool level power up 100
You don't get cooler than Vanilla Ice ;)
How come you didn't use the aluminium mesh on the ducktail? I think it would have looked great.
It is a little bit flimsy for that area in my opinion. I am happy with that stuff, but it might get a bit of a tweak in this weeks episode ;)
So funny! It's 90 degrees F here today. Very hot! Heidi.
Why do you think we are about to head over to the US for a couple of weeks. It's too damn cold here at the moment ;)
Home Built By Jeff oh that's right! You mentioned that before. Have a great time! Heidi
Fantastic!

what are you doing with the gearbox???
grills turned out very nice
The stereo does have a microphone for the phone. That is a good point putting it in the centre to avoid wind noise.

okey did not know it was in working order the engine was a little ruf😉
Love the look of the grills, good job! What is the brand of that stereo? I was thinking it might look good in my next build. Keep up the good work!
The Stereo is Classic Retrosound. I will hopefully post up another video this week reviewing it.
Awesome job with the grill! Any chance you know what gauge thickness of the metal and size of the hole cuts are?
Sorry I can;t remember. I just went to my local metal supplier and got what they had. Mine is galvanised steel, but I think Aluminium could be better.
Thanks! I'll be doing the same for my front end and like the pattern.
Is that Tangerine Orange 018 by any chance?
turned out nice as usual! maybe it would look cool if you paint the stripes on over the grille too? it may look really bad tho, but maybe worth looking into :-)
Funny you should say that.... keep an eye out for this weeks video ;)
nice! excited to see what you come up with :-)
Rain water moisture humidity dust and perhaps some dirt will get in on your engine with that mesh, unless your planning to only driving it in nice weather and never parking it outside for too long.
I would have used the same front mesh on the rear, a nicer pattern. Great way using heavy paper to get your template.
your attention to detail is great, but i really don't like that the screws are visible on the rear grill. expected a bit more. still love your channel though!
Really. I suppose I could have fabricated something underneath, but I like the nice neat allen head bolts with the cup washers. There is more to come with the rear grill this week anyway ;)
Saw this recommended and thought it was an update.
I believe his name is pronounced closer to 'roof' than 'rough', 'rewf' would be the closest English sounding spelling.
It was supposed to be a joke that I gave up on after too many takes. You are right it is more like 'Rewf'. She was supposed to say Ruff, or Rewf, or Woof ;)
Here's my custom deck lid grill: imgur.com/a/JhT9M
