Great video but you forgot about the brake caliper removal
😅 nice catch! I guess I forgot to video that part…. If I remember correctly, you don’t necessarily have to remove the caliper to get the wheel off
Thanks 👍
😁👍
When removing the wheel, will it clear the brake caliper, or does the caliper need to be removed first?
It believe it should clear, others say they change theirs without removing, I was following the manuals’ instructions
Lack of experience on my end caused the rear wheel not to spin. It seems like the belt is now grinding on the metal cover for the front pulley, preventing the rear tire from spinning.
Could it be misalignment? I just want to make it movable so mechanic can take another look
Hey Jovan! Is the bike in neutral? Pull the clutch, you should be able to push it.. You can make adjustments so the belt lines up, if it i too tight it would be hard to move also, let me know 😁👍
What size socket do you need for the rear castle nut? I couldn’t find it mentioned in the video. Thanks
Hey Dan! I believe 1”… I can’t remember if I bought the socket or used a crescent wrench
Which way do the grooves face in the small spacer go? Does it matter?? What are the grooves for?
I think the groove side faces outward but I’m not exactly sure. My guess would be that the groove is used in conjunction with pulling tool… for easier removal
How should I go about tightening the adjuster bolts if I didn't take a pic of them beforehand? I replaced the rear tire, then buttoned everything up and took it down the street about 50 feet and noticed my rear wheel is wobbling heavy from side to side. I'm guessing I didn't tighten or adjust my belt correctly.
That’s a tough one…. There is a special tool that shows how far to press down on the belt ….if you look closely at the bottom there is a gauge built in.. and if I remember correctly 3/16 flex is what you are going for.. it’s around the 8:00 minute mark in the video
Is the 2005 simular?
Yup, they are real close 👍
Would this be about the same on a 96 sportster?
Yup, similar but minor differences
