I could probably do 24 knives on a coarse Atoma diamond stone and a ceramic rod for finishing. I'm fast. For the curved cutter a diamond rod should do, or a curved stone.
Incredible! The way you explained each step makes it easy to follow, and the final result is outstanding. I’ll definitely try this out with my kitchen tools. Keep up the great content!
Your dismissive of people afraid of cutting themselves using the whetstone method. Obviously the creator could conjure a brilliant DIY target audience.. 🔪😉
@@christopherfritz3840what I would be dismissive about is how affective the method would be. A battery drill is far too slow for such an abrasive to be affective. A mounted point (google it) would be far more affective but you'd still need 60,000rpm to run it. I've used a soft pad in an angle grinder often enough for larger items. But yes, 10/10 for creativity.
Well, first, you have to go buy a bunch of things, not to mention a drill. But you need a tube, some sandpaper, some super glue, some scissors, some of those tie thingies.
@@DrumsTillDeath74 DIY? Really? It's not DIY... It's a "spend ages doing a load of other shit, spending more money to do something you could easily do by buying a 3 dollar thing from your thrift shop" video for advert clicks...
What angle would that cutting edge be at ?? Judging by the video, I would say varying between 5° and 30° Some part of the blade would be sharp at some time I guess !!
Many congrats for the useful & simple way of sharpning knives you suggest. Being a beginner in the art of knife sharpening, I'd like to know why you used 2 different types of sandpaper, as well as as in other videos, you used the sharp blade to pass over the leather. Thanks in advance for your help🙏🙏🙏
"Wow, this method is absolutely mind-blowing! I never thought sharpening a knife could be this easy. The results are truly amazing, it's like having a brand new razor-sharp knife! Thank you for sharing this awesome technique!"
Hi, great Idea, I for sure will try this. However, I would place the leather in the centre so that you can use a grinding aid (angle) for both sides of the cutting edge on both sandpapers.
Your patience in this experiment is commendable👍👌Let me share my methods. My 1st method: Rubbing a piece of sandpaper against the sharp edge directly also does the trick. I use this method all the time. My 2nd method: I also cut some used foil into tiny pieces bcos that also helps to sharpen the edges.
"The lesson I've learned from this video is priceless: with just a few simple tools and techniques, anyone can sharpen their knives like a pro. Thank you for empowering us with this knowledge!"
AWESOME sharpening of the cheap knife! And AWESOME creation of a cheap tool! Plus I'd have never thought to go from 180 t0 1000 grit to leather strop. I'd have thought a few more grit steps were required... Learn something every day... I've done a LOT of pruning, so unfortunately I have to say that the secateurs would probably have cut 99% better just with tightening the nut. Although there's no doubt that sharpening also improved how easily they cut...
The hardest procedure is to keep a knife at exactly the same angle when sharpening . If you find a way to do it and what the proper angle is for making the edge sharp , you have it made .
It's a good idea and seems to work; but it seems a lot of trouble to go to when you can use a diamond sharpener followed by a ceramic one for honing -- and finally a leather strop if you want to use your secateurs for shaving...
Quem não conseguir uma faca com corte que dure pelo menos 2 meses entre em contato..... hehehe Mas, a idéia é boa, não deixa de ser uma opção na hora de necessidade... 😆
I don't have a drill but I do have a dremel - I could make this thing in three separate sections, I suppose. Smaller but it would work just as well I suppose.
