True, though gunny is a common term used in the Marines for a Gunnery Sargent. As for the rest of the names, it would appear to be a lack of creativity on their part.
Nowadays i would call it Bad, Unrealistic and stiff shit.... but if i play it back in the day, this game would be golden and great times

Can anyone help me? I have the same problem as some others, it's that the optional objectives don't register on Guadalcanal and I'm missing out on some awards that I otherwise should get.

It's the realistic mode. There are 4 modes in the game ( easy, medium, hard, and realistic ). For easy until hard, you can still see your crosshair, your ammo and your health. But for realistic mode, you can't see your crosshair, your health, etc, so you get the best experience in the game. You could die just by getting stabbed twice by a bayonet ( I mean, it's realistic ).

Those fucking big stars above all friendly guys(adds to the unrealism) and the ultrastupid AI.
I started this game, found very empty of atmosphere after a few walks and firefights and got back to CoD.
Dont need no comparison, CoD beat by far
