I like to pressure wash everything first to keep dirt out of the engine and that drive shaft really needed a good scouring or maybe some sand paper and a coat of paint or at least some light oil to keep rust at bay. I never could figure out what causes a stator failure since there are no moving parts that rub against anything. Maybe the varnish on them fails. Who knows? A charged battery will read about 12.4 volts with engine off and 14 or better running if charging system is good. Pretty good video just the same. Thanks.
Can you just pull the shift shaft out from the stator side and put a new shaft back in the same way ? The guy that owned my four wheeler before me tack welded the shifter to the shaft because it was stripped, your input would be really appreciated, thanks
Thanks for a very easy to follow video. I have not done this yet but have a question. My 97, 300 fourtrax starts fast but will not run once in gear ( no power) and if I hit the throttle it dies. I have cleaned the carb, put in a new plug, replaced the cdi box and coil. No change. Buddy insists it is the stator. Your opinion? Thanks in advance
@@jasonhuber3718 Thanks for asking! No, not yet. I have it with a guy who can figure out anything and as soon as he gets to it, I'll have an answer. Funny. I was at a resort this weekend and their exact machine was doing the exact same thing! Weird....
@@dogguy2351 Let me know what you find out! mine will start and idle just fine but has no power when you give it any throttle. New cdi and all the wires check out, good charging voltage as well. even a freshly rebuilt carb. It's a 1994 fourtrax 300 4x4

I try to put my stator cover back on and it acts like it isn’t lining up to go back on what do I do ?

Still nothing. Been told it's a valve situation... not fully closing. Probably going to give it away
