Sir, 15 years I have been interested about Discus(I have 10 big discus in 120gallons water) for the whole time I haven't heard anyone else so clearly and convincingly and with "no secret" explained how to take care Discus. You do a good job. Great respect!
Gabe, i've been watching tons of fish keeping videos for a year and your video has been one of, if not the best video i've come across. Clear, edifying and straight to the point. Thank you. Now i think i can really take care of Discus fish which i have long admired.
I'm getting 6 juvenile discus and I have bn researching for past 48hrs. Tnx this is a simple video compared to the rest. Just maintain 86 degree temp and no community style for now. Got it, tnx
That was some of the most solid advise I have ever seen on discus. I have raised them for years. So many people give wrong advise. Only thing you left out was the salt content :)
Gabe is top notch, the best! I’ve called and he really does answer. All fish that my husband and I have purchased from him, are healthy with no problems or deaths. Love the videos, Gabe!!!!
I just visited this place today and wow. I always thought salt water aquarium had the most beautiful looking fish until I saw these amazing discus fish in this store. Just amazing. The guys there even the customers can give you good advice so I’m setting up tank and will go back soon to purchase some fish.
This guy is simple the best,if you love discus, this is your store, the most beautiful discus you ever see are here,I go there a lot,and on Monday I’ll be back again
This video and advice got me back into caring for discus at the age of 39 having cared for them and bred them from the age of 11 through to 21, thanks Gabe. Regards from Aberdeen, Scotland.
Dear Gabe you are the best and real pro to me with discus! I am so happy you go on with Jack Wattley's philosophie! So great. Thanks a lot. All the best to you, Boris, Swiss
Stumbled onto yer video... subscribed and I am stoked because you gave some of the best info in a basic no frills approach. Thanks it’s refreshing... keep it up.
This is the same advice I’ve heard since the 70’s and it’s still solid good advice now! You know your business no doubt about it! I enjoyed watching! Thank you for sharing!
I am in the UK we have the same joys from our water companies. In the late 90’s our village water pipes as they were well over a hundred years old. The water company fed a hard plastic liner through the main feed due to corrosion problems. A couple of weeks later they added an extra burn to clear up bacteria in the water without a prior warning. Luckily I always put the water for water changes into large drums to pretreat first. The smell of the high levels of chemical off the chart. I immediately phoned the company to confirm. Then went door to door telling my neighbours to flush out their water systems before drinking cooking or generally using the water. Across the road from me a neighbour had a newborn premature baby and the mother had a poor sense of smell. She had just started to give the kid a bath. Luckily I had twenty gallons of warm distilled water that I was about to use for a water change for aCorrie breeding tank. Baby rinsed off with that water. He still spent two months in hospital chemical 90% burns lung damage as well. It took over three years of treatments before the all clear. The fines and damages against the water company massive. At least Fifty times higher than maximum levels of the chemicals is what they admitted to in court. It was in fact much higher. It also wiped out my dad’s hens poisoned their water it was on a auto system
Please Gabriel help me with this test issue.. I’m doing water change almost every day .. my ph and ammonia is good but nitrates no Matter I do water change light red color always . My discus are happy eating good .. I have a lot plants 🌱 bamboo too .. fish happy .. should I be worried about nitrates ??? Thank you 🙏
Hello sir, I am new in keeping Discus. Have some questions. 1. Does light play any role in keeping and rearing Discus? 2. Is there any age specific diet chart for Discus? Asking this because, this question just came to my mind, if we don't give the same food to the children and the adults in our family, then there should be some specifications for the fishes too? Is my thinking wrong? 3. Does it matter if we keep the tank on the floor or on a shelf? Looking forward to your response.
I’m watching this video after a long time. I wanted to set up my very first discus tank 1 year ago. I couldn’t do it because of some reasons. I wanted to do it again and got an aquarium for it today. Guess where I came to watch the discus care videos. Your videos are awesome. Btw looking forward to get an update about your new breeding facility. My goal someday is to start discus breeding. Thanks for inspiring me !
Great video!!!!! I would recommend storing water in glass, not plastic, because most plastics leech hormone-like chemicals that have estrogen-like activity, even plastics that are deemed food safe and BPA-free. Use a spare aquarium or source some huge 14 gallon glass demijohns from the home brewing trade to store water (spare tank is cheaper than many demijohns, though). If you want to store water in plastic anyway, fill the containers and allow heated water to sit for at least a month, then discard that initial water, refill and use that 2nd if not 3rd batch for your tank(s). Great video and beautiful fish!!! I simply double dose Seachem Prime during water changes because my tap water has a stable pH.
Thanks heaps Gabe, I’m just new with Discus though I’ve been keeping tropicals for about 40 years. I’m listening to all your videos and I think this is going to be fun 👏👏😉👍
Hello, I am writing from Bulgaria. Thanks for the videos, they helped me a lot and I learned a lot ... I have four couples, but none of them is looking after their young.the moment they start swimming alone. They leave them ten days later. The same thing again.I learned to grow on my own, and I have a good success rate of over 70% of those who hatched. Thanks to your videos mainly ...So my question is why my fish don't look after their young and where do I go wrong.I apologize in advance I'm not on you with writing in English I use a translator if something is not clear ...
Hi thank you so much for all this information my question is can I put a breeding pair of longfin super red bristlenose with the discus? Also would the discus eat the baby bristlenose?
Good to hear a very different opinion from all the other voices out there. You said to age your water for water changes, how do you match the temperature of the tank if it's aging? Or is there no need to?
Great video - love that you guys have started doing more content. Would love to see a short vid on the feeding quantities of beefheart and if you feed live foods to induce spawning! Keep it up Gabe content is awesome !!!!
Great video but you made it look so simple. I wanted to keep discuss but the videos i saw made me think otherwise and went for goldfish. Now i am super confident to start another discuss tank.
Hi , I'm planning to order from you guys but I live in Arizona.. how long will it take to deliver the fishes? Also now in October average temperature in Arizona (Tucson city) 92 *. Can you pls confirm.if it's safe
