Thankyou. Sir kindly make a video of treating planted discus tanks with potassium permanganate, and tell us the proper dosage of PP which will not damage the boilogical filters🙏
@@rmmc5554 That's not the issue. One gram per 100 gallons equals .75 grams for 75 gallons. The issue is Permanganate kills everything including your nitrifying bacteria. Commercial guys can use the stuff because they do MASSIVE water changes CONSTANTLY.
For home hobbyists, you can just use hydrogen peroxide. It is an oxidizer like PP but a bit safer and doesn't stain. I dose 5ml/10 gallons. You can kill fish if you dose too much.

@@thani9826 8-35 ml of 3% solution of hydrogen peroxide per 50 liters of water seems to be the safe range when doing a little bit of research (but problebebly not enough). But doing it in a bare tank whit no algae and whit sensetive fishes like discuss I would assume you would have to be on the lower side of the scale. Seem to be a fair bit to take into consideration for getting a fair answer
Tk you for the wealth of info you are giving us, may I ask how we can do it at home and if I can use it to clean bio media, driftwood, etc. asking cause I'm setting 1k gal tank and I'm using same media from my old tank. Tks again
Can you please explain if the beneficial bacteria that is in the sump also gets killed? Do you need to worry about cycling the tank again to prevent ammonia spike?
Such treatments do not work in established tanks, because it will oxidize and kill all organic stuff and waste between plants, rocks, substrate, bacteria in your filter, dead plant leafs,........ Therefore you can not calculate a ppm solution to dose in an established tank, you can only treat with this method in bare tanks
What is the dosage calculator? Do you have any quantities for smaller tanks? Also do I need to remove any media from the external filtration or will it treat everything? I’ve got the fry in a 65 L aquarium, but over the last five days I’ve lost around 50 fry. I have potassium per magnate, but cannot find any dosage quantities.
Gr8 information. Do you do this as a preventative? What's amount and % of hydrogen peroxide you use to neutralize the ppm. If your changing the water to remove coffee color do you do it over time or 100% . Do you feed them for this treatment ? When you add hydrogen peroxide to water that to deactivate the ppm would this kill your beneficial bacteria in sponge filter? Could you do this on a single tank with no sump just sponge air driven filters? Thank you Gabe.
We don't feed during the treatment. Anything organic deactivates the PP. We feed half an hour after the treatment. In two hundred gallons we use a.cup of H2O2
Gabe, thanks for sharing this information. My Flowerhorn fish is behaving very lethargic and keeps sitting at bottom or at top. He is not eating since last 10 days. How often should I repeat this process and for how long? Please guide.

Very good video, but the potassium permanganate don't kill your sump benefical bacteria?
Not if you use it like I did. This way the reaction takes place in the aquarium and what goes down the overflow is already mostly deactivated

Hydrogen peroxide removes all remnants of the brown after the water changes
