    Hitch mount winch carrier.
Hitch mount on both ends of your own rig. On the tongue of your trailer. On the back wall floor of your shop.
Save a lot by just buying the one winch

This winch is 120v AC powered so it really would not be useful anywhere but inside the shop. I did kick around the idea of doing the hitch mount thing though to be able to use it in other areas of the shop, but I thinkin reality it would just live where it is now even if it could be easily moved.

I've had that winch in use for 15 years now, and it still works perfect. It's dedicated to the purpose of hoisting a zero turn mower up to access the mower deck to scrape it. I'm going to get another one to use on my A-frame gantry as an engine lift.

Not gonna lie..I thought those 3 screws were gonna pull right out of the wall....

Luckily it takes very little effort to move a vehicle that rolls. The winch will only pull like 230lbs so the screws should never be a problem. I plan to pull the bracket off now that I know nothing needs to be changed and powder coat it, then I can always put some lag bolts in instead of it seems like it will be a problem.

I've seen some other people just add lags into the ground the winch can be latched to, temp or permanent.

@@hydrocarbon82 I considered going into the concrete, but I think it would have complicated things a little with the direction the winch pulls and you can't just through bolt the winch plate. There is no room around the motor. SO far this has been working out awesome, but I may step up the screws to lag bolts when I pull the bracket off to powdercoat it.

Looks like a great idea, although, I would have a bigger base plate, 4 HDI's into concrete, and a couple of through bolts and a plate behind the wall. That, or a pile outside the wall to attach to.
That's just me tho... my engineering ticket came from breaking stuff, and over building the rest!😁

@@auntysocialist The winch only has 450 lbs of pulling power at best when using a snatch block to double the single line pulling power. I have also spent many years working for a tow company doing all sorts of crazy recovery work. It takes very little force to move a vehicle that rolls. A wood screw has 110lbs of withdrawal force per 1 inch of penetration. 3 screws at 2.5 inches long has 810 lbs of withdrawal capability. That gives about a 55% safety factor which seems fine to me.

You need one of those cheap wireless remotes so you can sit in the car, turn the hoist on and off while you steer it. Several folks have made that mod (including me, on my microscopic youtube channel, only I did one for my ATV stacker shelf)

The thought crossed my mind. More so for pulling the winch line out to the vehicle rather than needing to steer, but would be useful for both.

Trying to finally make this place what I always saw in my head since day one. Had this shop for almost 14 years now, far too long to not be there yet

Its amazing the views, subscriber increase and just overall channel exposure this simple video has gotten me. Time to build on this momentum for sure.
