Ok, for all that are asking here's the deal on the kits. The shipping on the wheels is the killer. I would need $70 per kit to make it worth the effort. I feel like that's going to be too much for what most people are expecting to pay and it's more than I want to charge. I have kits in stock and ready to ship. If you are in the lower 48 states send $70 via paypal to dirtysidegetsdown@gmail.com and I will get a kit headed to you. If you want to files and link to the wheels send $15 to that address and I will send that to you in an email and you can order the parts.
DUDE. I got these exact same press two months ago and I have the exact same issues and came the the exact same conclusion, put guide bearings to ride on the uprights, but haven't done the mods yet. (you got it done first, you win!). Awesome to see it in action, great job!
Even if I can’t help come to a conclusion I’m happy I could help confirm a conclusion. The whole goal of my channel is to get people working on solutions or gaining some motivation to sort their stuff out. I want people to get out in their garage, shop, carport, driveway, whatever and get things done. I have worked on cars parallel parked on the street in front of an apartment, driveway, single car garage and big shop now. We all start somewhere
What would a kit cost if you put 1 2gether with rollers and bracket tabs? Ive been trying to figure out a good solution but never really needed 1 until I just bought a brake press setup for my shop press. Figured having stuff tight will get better bends on stuff. If the price is right id definitely be interested. Itd save me a TON of time trying to fit stuff up source parts
a double wheel on the each side of the top inside brackets 6' apart would help keep it from rocking left to right (when you pressed down you could see it) the further apart the better, however tall the jack is compressed.
I considered doing that as I was putting it all together, but it seems lateral movements were more the issue than rocking so I figured it would be fine. The top tabs would work on the underside too though so they can always be added if needed
I think so. My next trip to harbor freight I plan to take 2 of the brackets with me and see if it fits. I have an email address in the about section here, if you want to shoot me an email I can let you know.
So it looks like a steel eccentric stud with an Aluminum roller with a snap ring holding them together. So why not replace the Aluminum roller with a sealed Bearing or did you feel that was an over kill..?? Also was there enough force being applied to the Aluminum rollers that they should have been supported on either side by the Gussets you made? So now after seven months how's it holding up..?? Inquisitive minds want to know. Lol Good video.
There really isn’t any load to speak of on the rollers. Bearings would be massively overkill along with making it double shear. With those rollers there would be no way to do that anyway. I probably use the press about once a month and so far no sign of an issue. I actually used it in another video to flare a pipe. I think it might be the first Nova build video.
@@DirtySideGetsDown Okay, I understand and thought as much but to use my son's logic anything worth doing is worth over doing. Lol I took the easy road and just changed the jack to the air assist haven't done anything to the carrier yet myself but you mod looks interesting. Thanks for the response.
I haven't. There didn't seem to be much interest in it so I moved on. For standard press work these things work fine without this modification, it's when you get into certain things like when I was pressing distributor gears on, I needed zero movement side to side for it work go smoothly.
I haven’t actually made a kit, but I have been selling the files to get the brackets cut and a link to the wheels for $10 if you’re interested. You can get the brackets cut at send cut send for cheap
I always kind of had the idea of making g this as a kit to sell, so I figured it would need some adjustment to compensate for manufacturing differences of these presses. I’m sure the uprights don’t fluctuate much, but I’d imagine the part my pieces get welded to will by a few thousandths or so in width.

I saw this a couple weeks back and thought I’d never find it again. I finally found it. I emailed for plans. Great work

Fantastic idea. 🤘
Thank you sir. It feels a little overkill, but overkill is underrated. Lol
Stumbled across this video by chance. Awesome mod to a great press
I have one of those little presses, and have the same problem with it. Thanks for the idea! I may go work on mine now. (subscribed)
Glad I could help!!

Wonder if it would work with the 20 Ton Press.????
I have a lot of slop in my 20 Ton, very impressive, I like your ideas

Did you ever make these plans available?

Was going to suggest some kind of adjustment, then I saw your eccentric adjustment, looks great!
